MHO is that the T on Peterson was completely bogus. I mean geez, he slapped the ball hard while holding it in his hands but that hardly merits a T. As far as "slamming" it down, that "slam" was about as hard as a 3 month old baby can hit. Really not much more than him just dropping the ball.
I can kind of see the one on Adom. Again, it wasn't very hard, but he did give the Carroll player a little push. The problem was Adom was holding on to the guy for a long time before the ref called the personal foul. Had he called Adom when he first grabbed his guy the T probably would never have happened.

Wheaton fans,

1. The box score from last night shows the names of only two refs. Misprint or were there really just 2? if so, did it have a major effect on the flow of the game?

2. Also noted was Wheaton's Nyameye Adom, and 3 point shooting specialist Spencer Peterson were tagged with Technical fouls. Certainty the lads didn't utter a profanity. What were their transgressions?

I'm sure they were just good kids who got caught up in the competitive moment, much like Mike Pollack of North Central last night.  Wouldn't you agree?

First of all, I'm sure they are good kids. I never said otherwise. Its just that you don't see Wheaties called for Ts very often and I wondered what actions might have caused the Ts.
Secondly, I still don't have any idea what Pollack said or did. By the way, he is a good kid too.
Lastly, my true opinion is that you really didn't answer the question but instead, as you usually do, just emitted a wise-ass, sarcastic blurb out of your love and affection for yours truly.  Wouldn't you agree? :-*

1. By the looks of things, that may be a Freudian omission because there were only two refs on the floor that looked like they might possibly belong on the floor during a bottom-three CCIW game. There were three on the floor but one was clearly there because games were rescheduled and the bottom of the barrel had been scraped to fill out a crew. I'm not sure if the omission on the box score fits the bill or not but the same guy called both technical fouls and if those are technical fouls, there would be at least five techs handed out on any given night in the CCIW.

2. See response to number 1.

Here's the link to the video: https://portal.stretchinternet.com/carroll/portal.htm?eventId=461134&streamType=video
Spencer Peterson's comes at 1:23:50 and Nyameye Adom's comes at 1:35:55

Both came with Wheaton making runs and narrowing the Carroll lead only to have Carroll use the techs to pull away once again.

Again, Carroll made the plays needed to win last night and deserved to, but the CCIW has had a problem all year with the officiating not being up to par with the quality of play on the floor and it was squarely on display last night in Waukesha. The sheer number of illegal screens that didn't get called last night is staggering on both ends of the floor not to mention Francis getting tackled on a three attempt with no whistle and Anajuwon Spencer taking a shot to the shooting arm that came without a whistle.

However, credit Carroll for executing down the stretch and taking advantage. They deserved to win.

Those are both ridiculous technical fouls.

I went back to check the video, and I'm not sure what he did or said to warrant a T. I didn't hear anything in real time from the table last night either, but considering he came over to plead his case I do kinda question it.

Since Carroll is geographically close to only Carthage College in the CCIW, I'm wondering if they are the only school in the Conference for which those fellows referee.  I guess there might be some inference in the question.

Gregory Sager

Nope. The CCIW assigns the officials for every men's basketball game, whether conference or non-conference, and the league's assigner uses a fixed pool of officials. The two officials that were identified in the box score, Drew Larson and Tom Turkes (the lattter of whom called the two technicals), are veteran CCIW refs who can be seen in any gym in the league on any given night, if that's where they were assigned.

Thanks Greg Sager, watching on a small screen he didn't look familiar which prompted the question.
Is he known to have a quick "T" whistle in general?  Maybe he was just having a bad day... constipated or something.

I've never seen him T-bone anybody with what appeared to be such little provocation as he dealt 'em out to Peterson and Adom on Thursday, at least as far as I can recall.

It's impossible to hear on the webcast whether or not Peterson and/or Adom said anything technical-worthy prior to the call in addition to their actions. Because of the angle, I couldn't see if Adom said anything or not, but Peterson's lips were definitely moving while he did his slam-the-ball-in-his-hands-and-then-casually-drop-it gesture. I doubt that either said anything off-color -- not that Wheaton student-athletes are immune to having potty mouths, because I've heard them spout off in blue on more than one occasion. But I do know that Mike Schauer would never stand for it, and it's hard to hide what you say out of habit when you're angry or frustrated from a coach who sees (and hears) you in practice every day.

You never know, though; it doesn't take naughty talk to land yourself a tech. As I said last Saturday, Kindrel Morris of North Park got T'ed up for muttering "that's terrible" under his breath while walking away from an official.

Kienan Baltimore made a three-point play with fourteen seconds left, and then Brady Rose duplicated the feat at the other end with seven seconds left to win it for IWU.

I admit to seriously underestimating Carroll. The Pioneers have made a serious push here at the end of the season, winning tonight on the longest road trip that the CCIW has to offer.

Whew!!!  Titans never make it easy this year.   Heart-stopping.

IWU over CC 76-74.  Rose with the winner.  Almost too much K. Baltimore with 31 and 11

IWU:
Bonnett best game in days, 26
Rose 16
Gregoire 12

Baltimore -- just amazing, 31-11
Johnson 10
Kedrowski 10

Another much needed win for the Titans -- to get closer to the CCIW tournament bid.

IWU'70

IWU goes to 13-8, 6-6.  A tough tough road win.  We'll take it any day . . .  and head home.

Next up NCC, a bigger challenge.
