Who had 9:01 first half in the jacket pool?

I had 12:00 left. Glad it happened on camera at least. :)

Yeah, I was bummed that it wasn't shown in the Augie/IWU game!  Schools should be required to have a 'jacket cam' on their webcasts!  (BTW, does he ever put it back on after ripping it off?  With IWU being up by 13 in the first half, I can't believe he hadn't already thrown it, but he was wearing it early in the second half.)

Cracking up at the shout-out Chris and Dan just sent my way. Dan had trouble saying "North Central" as he read the first-half stats. He kept saying "North Park", due to the impression that the NPU ladies made on him as he did color for NPU's upset win over Augie in the opening round of the women's tourney last Tuesday. :D

AUGIE 65

Screw those 499 miles!  8-)  ;D
Who's coming to Naperville? 🏀

Chris and Dan nailed it by pointing out repeatedly that Augie spent far too much time and effort pounding the ball into Micah Martin, to the exclusion of everything else. Augie just has too many weapons to allow itself to become one-dimensional like that. Augie also had a lot more defensive breakdowns than usual, two or three of them of the roll-out-the-red-carpet-to-the-rim variety.

Boy, NCC packed a month's worth of good shooting into this weekend.

Fun CCIW Tournament stat tweeted out by NCC's official handle:

In the now 14 CCIW Tournaments, the top seed has won 9 times. Of the remaining five not won by the weekend host, North Central has won four of them ('06, '13, '17, tonight).

I'll say!  25-47 FG 53%, 7-15 trey 47%.  Overcame -13 on offensive glass and -8 overall.  Congrats to the Cardinals.

The Thunder mens players were at King tonight watching the ladies.  I'm pretty sure they were following live stats.  I can't believe this is the better outcome for Wheaton's Pool C prospects unless you believe last night's result already dropped Wheaton below NCC in the RR?

Wheaton is a lock.  I promise.  Wheaton fans can sleep well tonight...the Thunder are in.

I actually do think this is a good result for the Wheaties.  They will get to the table pretty quickly as Augie and Oshkosh will be selected more or less immediately.  Had the Cardinals lost and Wheaton been behind them -- which I think is a real possibility given North Central's record and 2-of-3 wins H2H -- then the Wheaties may have sat a bit longer and had fewer swings at the piƱata.

I expect the Thunder would get in regardless of the result tonight, but getting to the table quicker is the name of the game.

All 3 projections have Wheaton in...

I have the Thunder in at #17, @D3Bubble at #15, Matt Snyder at #13.

Wheaton fans can enjoy a relaxed Selection Sunday.  There is no drama today regarding Wheaton and Pool C.

A look at potential national seeding - http://www.d3boards.com/index.php?topic=8886.msg1923405#msg1923405.

I have the overall top 4 as:
1. (W) Whitman: .963, 26-1/.563/5-1
2. (MA) Christopher Newport: .893, 25-3/.549/7-3
3. (W) Nebraska Wesleyan: .963, 26-1/.575/2-1
4. (NE) Amherst: .852, 23-4/.568/8-3

I think Augustana's loss last night was big, in that seems to put them out of the top 4.  What does that mean? Not sure yet, but 1) could mean Augie will be put in a quadrant with Nebraska Wesleyan, and 2) if so, the Vikings are the lower seed.  Augie's road to the Final Four could go through Lincoln, NE (but that would come down to geography...hard to get 3 teams to Lincoln for a Sectional).

In looking at the West and Central, I think Whitman, Nebraska Wesleyan, Augustana, Loras, St. John's, and North Central all deserve to host first weekend pods. (I am excluding UW-Oshkosh because it seems like their women will be hosting.) But I don't think there is any way all 6 can host based on bracketing realities.  One of those teams is probably going to have to go on the road the first weekend...seems like that could be NCC, which would be a very bad break.  I hope I'm wrong - the Cardinals deserve to host.

Maybe St. John's is the team that loses the hosting battle.  I have not looked closely enough at the geography options between NCC and St. John's though.

Bracket is hot off of the presses! Now downloadable from d3hoops.com

Augustana and North Central both hosting, Wheaton sent off to Wooster, Ohio. North Central with a tough second round assuming no upsets take place in Naperville on Friday evening as they would be faced with the task of Loras. Augie hosting Aurora on Friday and will face the winner of Capital and UW Platteville. Wheaton will face Hanover on Friday, which is interesting because Hanover was not ranked in the Great Lakes Region, but made it into the tourney via the AQ from their conference.

CCIW with three teams in the tourney and the dancing kicks off on Friday!

I attached the .pdf of the bracket below if any of you haven't downloaded it for yourself yet.
