North Central was just within the safe edge for hosting based strictly upon numbers, but the fact that in 1861 the founding fathers of the college decided to locate their new Methodist school in the semi-civilized environs of Naperville, IL rather than opt for the howling wilderness of places such as Dubuque, IA, Oshkosh, WI, or Collegeville, MN is the determinative aspect behind this choice by the committee.

To be precise, the founding fathers decided to locate their new Evangelical Association school in the howling wilderness of Plainfield, IL in 1861, but relocated to the semi-civilized environs of Naperville - on the new Chicago, Burlington, & Quincy rail line - in 1870, the same year the CB&Q reached Lincoln, NE.  Thinking ahead to later rounds, apparently.

Starting lineups will be forthcoming for this year's CCIW first round games.....stay tuned.

In the event that you are not familiar with the area, there is tons of good eating and drinking within walking distance of North Central's campus.  If you are interested in learning more, I'm sure AndOne or one of the other regular posters can help.

And if you're interested in knowing what was there several decades ago, just lmk and I am happy to help...

Now I want to know what the mileage was from Naperville to Lincoln using the train tables that the NCAA undoubtedly used in the late 19th century...

There is no weekend "package." Tickets cannot be bought on Friday for Saturday's game.
First game Friday is at 5:30. Tickets go on sale in the lobby of Merner Fieldhouse at 4:00.
Tickets are $10.00 for adults, and $5.00 for seniors and students. Prices set by the NCAA, not NCC.
Tickets purchased Friday are good for both games.
Limited (popcorn, chips, candy, drinks) concessions will be available. No burgers, hot dogs etc. as I understand it.
Saturday's game starts at 7:00. Ticket sales beginning at 5:30. Prices are the same.

Hope that helps. 🏀  :)

When we went to Salem, we actually tailgated in the parking lot. Got some strange looks.

Or the ones about me being part of the team that drew up the plans for Merner Fieldhouse.  :o

Strange looks? Tailgating is pretty common in Salem!

Heck, the Salem community had a number of people tailgating before and during the Stagg Bowl this past December. Yeah ... the one played in Texas this season! They tailgated in Salem anyway!

I see a comment made in the preview that, if true, this is some kind of recovery.

"*A quickly deleted tweet on bracket Monday revealed that Aiden Chang – he of a really tragic, gruesome leg injury in December, and a pretty talented point guard – was cleared for full participation in practice this week."

I've always thought of him as "Lighten Up", because of the pun possibilities with "Lightin' Up", which he does so regularly:
