Bosko was a player for 4 years (I assume? Did he play 4 years?)...and has been a coach for 34 (24 at Carthage, 10 at North Park).  38 total years.   Bosko is just 2 years away from matching that Bridges total of 40 between player and coach.

Incorrect. Bosko passed Bridges long ago.

Bosko played basketball all four years when he was a North Park student (1969-70 thru 1972-73), was away from the program for a season, and then returned as Dan "the Chief" McCarrell's primary assistant coach at NPC for the 1974-75 season. He assisted McCarrell for ten seasons before taking over as head coach of the Vikings prior to the 1984-85 season.

He parted ways with North Park after the 1993-94 season -- ten seasons at the helm as head coach -- and after a year away from the league in an official sense, but during which he did some informal scouting for Elmhurst head coach Scott Trost, he was hired by Trost to sit second chair for the 1995-96 season. After that one year as Trost's top assistant, Bosko was hired by Carthage to take over the helm in Kenosha, where he is now in his 24th season.

That's 24 years spent with North Park as player, assistant coach, and head coach (and he also doubled as North Park's head baseball coach for 17 years and was the athletic director for a couple more), plus a year spent with Elmhurst in an official capacity, plus 24 at Carthage, for a total of 49 years.

But, yeah, kiko is right about Al Carius. He is not only the greatest coach in CCIW history, bar none, he's also set a longevity record as head coach -- 53 years as the mentor of North Central men's cross-country -- that staggers the imagination.

Moody Bible Institute, which played host to NPU and Fontbonne today, seems to have screwed up the statistics, but the report we're getting now from the Near North Side is that Fontbonne prevailed over the Vikings, 76-74 (or 76-73 ... MBI can't seem to figure it out). Toby Marek had 20 for the Vikings, along with a nice 4:0 ratio, and was joined in double figures by Lawrence Pointer with 13, Jacquan Binion with 12, and Karl Polk, Jr. with 11. Matt Szuba contributed 11 boards and also had three assists to no turnovers, as did Izaiah Sanders.

Carthage topped Finlandia last night 122-64.  It was never a game.

Baltimore had 23 points in 25 minutes.  He also had a 7:3 ratio with 5 boards and a steal.
Kedrowski had 18 points in 15 minutes to go along with 6 boards, 5 assists and zero turnovers.
Sean Johnson had 13 and 10 along with 6 blocks in 22 minutes.
Brad Perry had 14 points, 9 boards, and a block in 18 minutes.

Finlandia's coach took over in October apparently...it's going to be another rough year for the Lions.

Rose-Hulman and Aurora played a much different game in the opener of the Honda of Kenosha Classic yesterday with RH coming out on top 84-83.  RH was up 82-78 with 1:23 left to play.  Vance made two free throws for Aurora to cut the lead to 2.  Missed jumper for RH, missed FT for Aurora, turnover by RH leads to a Rashad Johnson 3 to put Aurora in front with 18 seconds to play.  Zach Callahan (no relation to Tommy Callahan or the Callahan Auto empire), drew a foul and made both free throws with 5 seconds left to seal the game for Rose-Hulman.

Carthage will have their hands full today with the Rose-Hulman guards, especially Craig McGee who was 1 boards away from a triple double against Aurora.

Halftime

Elmhurst 43
UW-Oshkosh 33

Elmhurst started out this game making everything and Oshkosh started the exact opposite. Elmhurst ran out to a 22-5 lead before cooling off. Dotlich was lights out in the first half with 18 to lead all scorers.

Now we see if the Jays can close on the road.

Final

Elmhurst 97
UW-Oshkosh 92

Jake Rhode 34 points, 3 rebounds
Derek Dotlich 26 points, 5 rebounds
Lavon Thomas 14 points, 5 rebounds
Jay Militello 10 points, 8 rebounds

Will Mahoney 25 points, 5 rebounds
Adam Flavert 17 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists
Jack Flynn 16 points, 7 rebounds
Eric Peterson 11 points, 3 rebounds

Elmhurst improves to 3-0 with a huge road win vs Oshkosh. As opposed to their first two games, this one became a shootout from the get-go. Elmhurst shot very well in this one (33-60 FG, 10-23 3PT, 21-25 FG) and was able to hold on against an Oshkosh team that wouldn't let up despite trailing the entire game. Oshkosh will lament their shooting (30-71 FG, 12-38 3PT, 20-30 FG), especially to open to game which put them in a 22-5 hole very early. I really wanted to see if Elmhurst could hold on in this one, as Oshkosh did cut it down to a one possession game a few times in the second half. Each time, Elmhurst had an answer to weather the storm. Rhode and Dotlich will get most of the credit for dominating the scoring. Credit should also go to Lavon Thomas and Jay Militello. Thomas hit some huge shots in the second half to either quiet an Oshkosh run or punctuate a mini-run for Elmhurst. Militello is really turning into something of junkyard dog for Elmhurst, scoring timely buckets, grabbing rebounds, and just being in the right place at the right time.

Arguably Elmhurst's best win since the back-to-back national tourney teams of '15 and '16.

IWU 94
Lake Forest 90

* Doug Wallen: 20 pts, 5 reb, 3 assists
* Charlie Bair: 8 pts, 13 reb
* Keondre Schumacher: 18 pts
* Pete Lambesis: 12 pts, 3 reb, 3 assists
* Grant Wolfe: 10 pts, 4 reb, 3 assists

IWU led by 2 at halftime in what was a very back and forth 1st half.  Lake Forest presents a lot of problems on both ends of the floor. Offensively they are very quick on the perimeter and can really shoot the basketball from all over.  Defensively they trap up and down the floor the entire game -- kind of an Eric Bridgeland (Whitman, formerly Puget Sound) system.  Really up-tempo.

IWU got out to a lead in the 2nd half and played from about 8-10 points ahead most of the way.

A big advantage for the Titans is that they start 3 perimeter players who have PG skills -- Grant Wolfe, a pure PG, and then combo guards Keondre Schumacher and Pete Lambesis.  IWU can really handle and pass the ball well.

Doug Wallen is the 3rd IWU player to lead the team in scoring in 5 games.  From game to game, IWU has 4 guys who could be the leading scorer in Wallen, Schumacher, Wolfe, and Lambesis.

The Titans are very talented.  They have not played a perfect 40 minutes yet, but so far I like what I am seeing.

Ooh! Tim Calderwood filling in as the Wheaton PBP man tonight!

Wheaton over Olivet 81-51

Nyameye Adom      24 pts, 7 rebs
Cade Alioth      13 pts, 9 rebs
Tyson Cruickshank   13 pts, 6 rebs
Anajuwon Spencer   12 pts, 6 rebs
Eli Considine      9 pts, 6 rebs
Collin Uveges      5 pts, 5 stls

Chris Martin      12 pts, 4 rebs
Britton Angell      10 pts, 4 rebs

Very strong and balanced performance by Wheaton bouncing back from their last game.  The Thunder got off to a much better start offensively and never trailed in the game.  Adom was determined to bounce back from a subpar performance on Tuesday.  Cade Alioth continues to impress with very solid play.  It's great to see him getting comfortable posting up with his back to the basket.  I can't remember his number getting called once in the last 2 seasons but he's getting some sets regularly now.  Eli Considine had another pretty impressive game off the bench.

Wheaton goes on the road for the next 5 games.

I wasn't able to connect very well with the broadcast. I ended up watching the Titan women's game, and then finally connected after the half. Bair was a defensive monster. As noted, Wallen was high scorer this game. With a weapon at every position, opponents can't key on any one player to try to limit Titan scoring. My biggest take away: I really like Lake Forest's gym. It's very cool looking.

voxelmhurst

I'm not sure if anyone else was able to catch the live stream of Elmhurst-Oshkosh, but the end of the game had it's 'Heidi' moment occur right at 5pm. The stream was taken over by some campus classic arts program for a good couple of minutes, causing the basketball viewers to miss out of Elmhurst's key free throw shooting in the final minute. It was finally resolved with about 18 seconds left.

31 combined turnovers in this one, and I'd say that 60% of these were traveling violations. Refs called an incredible tight game but were, by and large, consistent.

Sounds like the upcoming Elmhurst @ Lake Forest game this Wednesday could be a good one.

I didn't know the first thing about Lake Forest until this year; they just weren't on my radar. But they started racking up some nice wins against CCIW teams and I got interested. They've had several winning seasons in a row and took their conference tourney last year. Considering they don't have any seniors in their starting line-up, they're positioned to be a force in the future. Good for them for building a winning traditional and setting high goals. The Elmhurst game is going to be a good one to watch.
