North Park finally enters the win column, albeit against a non-NCAA team.  Matt Szuba's shooting has been atrocious this year.  When I watched the game against Dominican, it appeared as though NP does not practice playing defense.  Yet another year of failing to qualify for the CCIW tourney (recognizing the one-year blip).  Lake Forest has beaten two CCIW teams in this early season.

IWU's Keondre Schumacher is off to an 18-28 (.643) start from 3-point range.  That is best in the CCIW.  Nationally, Schumacher has the best 3-point FG % of any Division III player that has shot 15+ 3s.

He's really playing well so far for the Titans (20.2 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.0 apg).

I didn't mention NPU's win this weekend because, even though it counts on the W-L ledger, in my eyes it really doesn't count at all. In fact, I was hoping that nobody on CCIW Chat would even notice, but you've spoiled that, Mark. ;) Even though it's sometimes necessary if there's a late cancellation and an NPU team needs to find an opponent at the last minute -- that's happened in several different sports over the years for North Park -- it's still embarrassing to have to play Moody Bible Institute. If you don't win big, you get laughed at for not winning big against a Bible school. And if you beat the Archers by a huge score, nobody cares because, well, you're beating the tar out of a Bible school.

I liken playing Moody Bible Institute to Cosmo Kramer bragging about how he was dominating his karate dojo, until it's revealed that he's in a karate class with a bunch of ten-year-olds:

I'm pretty sure that if Carthage's record book included dunks in a single game, the 1990 game against MBI would be in the top three.  Mario Miller and LeVon Brown had numerous highlight level dunks against that undermanned squad back in the day.  Such fond memories of the Kevin McCarthy era....

New Top 25.

North Central, Augustana - In it.
Elmhurst, Carthage, Wheaton - Near it.

I will confide here that I'm relieved Elmhurst didn't crack the Top 25 proper. They should relish all the time they get with coveted sleeping bear status!(sarcasm font)

Vox- I agree. History has shown me that Elmhurst plays better when they are not getting "recognized"  vs.  cracking the Top 25, getting some national attention,  and then pick up some losses along with the way.  The UW-O game was a great step forward.  Now, just hope they don't overlook a solid LF team.

The 'jays were the beneficiaries of some bad endgame play by the Foresters in an end-to-end thriller tonight up on the North Shore.

Any win over a WIAC team is a good win, but this year's UW Whitewater team looks to be the weakest in years.

Wheaton played very well in this game.  The Thunder are a lot better than I thought they would be.
