Great game if you like the sound of a whistle being blown -- or if your preferences lean towards incompetent camerawork, less-than-sterling refereeing, lots of scorer's table conferences, and constant whining on the part of both players and coaches. There were 68 personal fouls and four technical fouls called in this game; in fact, NCC shot 51 free-throw attempts and only 37 field-goal attempts. Four Tornadoes fouled out, and Connor Raridon fouled out for the Cardinals as well.

The Tornadoes were the most undisciplined college basketball team that I've seen in ages.

Unfortunately IWU PG and leading scorer Grant Wolfe (18.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 3.6 agp, .517 FG, .455 3-point, .867 FT) has suffered another concussion.  Grant is IWU's most valuable player - the guy that makes everything go - so hopefully he'll get back soon.

In watching the NCC/Concordia game - and that frenetic, chaos-fest, relentless pressure style Concordia plays - I was thinking, "Grant is going to carve this up."  He is so good with the basketball in his hands - such a great ball-handler, penetrator, and passer.  Was really bummed to hear the Grant news last night.

Freshman PG Luke Yoder will get the call now - he's really good and I think he'll have a strong game today.  I believe senior PG Bernie Coderre, the third PG on the depth chart, becomes a really important player today off the bench.

Even without Wolfe, IWU is a good ball-handling team, with Yoder, Schumacher, and Lambesis in the starting lineup.  Concordia turned North Central over 21 times yesterday.  If IWU can keep that total to its usual 12 or so, I think the Titans will be OK.

There will be some weird matchups at the 5 spots on both sides.  IWU's 5s (Bair, O'Neill) will have some trouble staying with Concordia's smaller, more mobile posts.  On the other end, the Titans will have a big size advantage inside.  If IWU can take care of the ball and get it inside there should be some easy baskets there.

Should be interesting.  Glad I get to see it in person.

Wolfe's loss huge for the TITANS.  Yoder is good, but still a freshman.

Titans getting blown out by Concordia.

Wolfe's a good player, but he would not have flipped the difference in a 19-point loss. CTX just blew the doors off of IWU down the stretch.

Augie trailed by two or three possessions down the stretch, but got within three at the 1:45 mark. Nevertheless, Augie just couldn't get it done up in Cheeseland. Micah Martin led the Greymen with 19 and 7 with five blocks, and Pierson Wofford had 13 and 8.

North Central beat Sul Ross State down in Austin, 83-79, as the Cardinals, like Augie, closed out their non-con slate. No stats are available as of yet.

Everything down in Texas is bigger. Even the number of Ts the refs call. 4 yesterday against home team Concordia vs. NCC, and 3 today against IWU @ Concordia. Maybe they're on some type of bonus plan according to how many they call? ;)

I tuned in late to Eric Stock and Bob, so I didn't get to hear one of them cite the last time that Ron Rose had gotten the heave-ho from a gym. But I am shocked that a CTX opponent could pick up more T-bones in a game than the Tornadoes did. As I said yesterday, the Tornadoes looked like the most undisciplined team that I've seen in years in yesterday's game against NCC.

Yes, Greg, I agree with you. Grant Wolfe could not have saved the TITANS in TX.  0-8 from treyland in the second half.  Not every day you see three Ts on the Titian side of the ledger.  One for Concordia too!   Concordia might be undisciplined and a bit rowdy, but they do have some shooters, some ballers.  A disappointing second half for the TITANS, to be sure.  Need to re-group for tomorrow or a truly disappointing Texas sojourn.

Perhaps Q can give us some explanation or perspective on the Ts.

I'd like to hear from an Augie person, or someone who saw that game up in LaCrosse, as to how the end of that game went. I've gotten so used to Augie seemingly always finding a way to win close ones that I'm a little surprised when it doesn't happen. Then again, it was Orange and Ebel who were the money players in crunch time for Augie in recent seasons; this is a new crew, and it could be that that was the difference tonight, although it appeared to me that Elledge was beginning to step into that money-player role in the Augie backcourt.

I watched the last two minutes.  They managed to get it from 1:45 down to 10 seconds without either team scoring at all.  Seemed pretty composed in doing so, as well.  The foul with three seconds left felt like a bailout to me - the LaCrosse defense really stifled what Augie was trying to do.  It appeared they did the same on the ensuing inbounds for the final shot - I can't believe that's what Grey drew up, although I'm sure he made that all clear if there was a post-game interview.
