North Central 90
Millikin 55

Last night Millikin's Cole Laurence hit a jumper that tied the game at 16 with a little over ten minutes to go in the first half. The Big Blue then went almost nine minutes without a field goal, and only managed a couple free throws in that span as the Cardinals built a massive lead.

I think last night was the most efficient I've ever seen North Central's offense: they shot 50 percent from the floor as well as from beyond the arc, logged 25 assists on their 30 field goals, and finished the night with only five turnovers. Even the end of the bench guys got in on the fun.

Five Cardinals scored in double figures, paced by a 14-8-8 night from Connor Raridon. Aaron Jones had a heat check night with 13 off the bench, and Matt Helwig, Blaise Meredith, and Matt Cappelletti finished with 12 apiece. Sam Stichnote paced the Big Blue with 15 points, and after scoring his team's first seven, Jake Hampton finished with 10 points.

Rough note for Millikin: Calvin Fisher left the game in the second half with what looked like a knee injury. Hopefully it's nothing serious and he can come back later this year.

Nope. No problem getting the WC @ CC stream on my computer.

Cook is still out for Carthage. Zach Fisher is not in uniform tonight for Millikin. That's 16.3 ppg that I have a hard time imagining MU will be able to replace.

Just found the right option.....in time to hear that Cook has the ol' "lower body injury".

He's obviously been playing too much hockey. ;)

😄.  +2 if I could.

New poll is up.  Elmhurst holds steady at #4 (if #5 Colby remains undefeated, I wonder how much longer they can hold them off?), NCC rises from 16 to 13, Augie gains 7 points (2 to 9) despite losing to NCC and a narrow win at Carroll - you see, there IS such a thing as a 'good' loss!

It'd been listed on the schedule as a 4 pm tipoff for at least a week now, if not longer.

I'm not 100% sure, but I suspect that Elmhurst wanted to play an afternoon doubleheader, as has become their tradition, and NPU acceded to the request. I've never quite understood Elmhurst's penchant for wanting to play Saturday afternoon games. Perhaps one of our EC posters can clue us in on that.

I'm not sure why Elmhurst changed their Saturday norm around 6/7 years ago to favor Saturday afternoon games. Off the top of my head I would think that the other schools (as well as families/friends of Elmhurst players who live a few hours from campus) might appreciate being able to get back home at a more reasonable hour on a Saturday.

I've always favored Saturday night games over Saturday afternoon games. A Saturday night game feels like an event. A Saturday afternoon game feels more like an interruption in the middle of the day.

I like the drama and the anticipation that builds on a campus on a Saturday during CCIW basketball season. As students, we fed off of that. Everything feels more big-time when it's held after the sun goes low in the sky.

I agree Greg.  Also, when I was a student I had a job working at the Animal Hospital on Saturdays. I wouldn't get back to campus until 5pm so a 7pm tilt was great.    Had a chance to grab some grub, perhaps some (lemon ADE ) and be ready to go crazy for the game.   Ah the good old days.

Well, in the CCIW the women's games start at 5 pm for Saturday doubleheaders, so as the broadcaster for both Vikings teams I have to pay due diligence.  :D

I like the 4o,clock starts for the travel purposes. Elmhurst to Millikin  or Augustana is a lot easier if they are scheduled on Saturday at 4.

Wayne Messmer will sing the national anthem before the IWU/NCC game tomorrow at the Shirk Center.

In Decatur, NPU up 37-19 at halftime.  The Vikings' Marek is 4/4 from beyond the arc.  Can the visitors put together two good halves ala their recent victory against Bosko's boys?
Once a metalhead, always a metalhead.  Matthew 5:13.

Possible upset alert from B'town:  IWU leads NCC, 42-34, at the half.

Is it that big of an upset though? Yes, NCC is ranked #13 but it's always tough to go on the road vs a competent team like IWU. I'd call it a slight upset.
