In all of the 34 years that the three-point line has been around in D3, I've never seen a player go to the free-throw line after being fouled in the act of shooting a trey attempt and then proceed to miss all three free throws.

Luke Anthony just did it for Wheaton at Faganel ... and right after he'd expertly suckered Ebrahim Jobe into jumping into him on the shot-block attempt, thereby committing his third first-half foul.
Pretty sure Anthony clanked three in their first Elmhurst game.

The three pertinent words have been bolded and underlined for emphasis.

I was calling the AC @ NPU game that night. Therefore, I didn't see Anthony miss those FTs at King.

Ah, sorry Greg.  I should have remembered your word precision writing.  lol

Korbin Farmer has been motionless on his back for about ten minutes now, as medical staff tends to him on the floor of the Carver Center after he was involved in a violent collision with Micah Martin.

Man, I hope the young man ends up being OK.

A violent collision that didn't result in a foul. Martin has stayed out of foul for the most part this season, something that couldn't always been said the previous years.

Finally at the half, after 2 long delays for blood on the court and this injury, and Augie is up 47-27.

The best part of Q's post is the link to the D3 Championship Belt as if its totally normal.

And yet being extremely lax on trademark enforcement...

Elmhurst 80  Wheaton 69

This game was almost a repeat of the game at King couple weeks ago.  Elmhurst led by as much as 17 but Wheaton came storming back to get within 4 with 4 minutes remaining.  The Thunder had their chances but couldn't make the key baskets to get closer.  It hurt that both Anajuwon Spencer and Cade Alioth both fouled out.  That left the only size on the floor remaining was Gavin Hawkins and he simply is not the tough rebounder the others are.

Tyson Cruickshank led Wheaton with 25 pts, 6 rebs.  Nyameye Adom had 16 while Cade Alioth had 12 and 7.  Luke Anthony continues to struggle mightily at the FT line going the previously mentioned 0/3 and is shooting 48% for the year.  Last season – 80%.  Go figure.

Derek Dotlich led the 'Jays with 20 pts, 6 rebs including some long threes.  Jake Rhode with 19 pts, 5 rebs, and 6 assts most of which were amazing.  Lavon Thomas with 12 and 6.  Jay Militello, 9 and 7.

First play was really a microcosm of the whole game. Matt Cappelletti caught a pass at the point, one of the Viking defenders gambled for a steal, over pursued, and none of his teammates were paying attention as Cap had the easiest dunk I've probably ever seen in a D-III game. Leaving the lane wide open for him? Not ideal. :P

Ultimate Titan Fan

Titans made the most of a size advantage in the paint. The first half was a dog fight, and Carroll used speed and a tenacious D to keep it close. But the Titans got a lot of good looks for 3 and blocked a lot of shots with the height advantage. Note of interest (to some): they hoisted Jack Sikma's jersey in the Shirk Center tonight, Jack on hand...#44. Then the Titans won the game with a 44 point differential.

Anthony 32 minutes, 0 points
Hawkins 18 minutes, 0 points
Uveges 11 minutes, o points.

All were on the floor as Elmhurst pulled away at the end.  Wheaton has a problem knowing where its scoring is coming from in any game.  I think they play with a lot of heart.  They'll be more consistent next year when just about everyone returns with this year's experience under their belt.
Elmhurst is really good.  It should be a great game next week in Naperville.

Great evening to be a TITAN with Big Jack Sikma in the house at The Shirk Center.  Congrats to him on the new banner hanging in Shirk marking his induction into the Naismith Hall of Fame.  Titans had a great second half,  running away with the game vs. Carroll.  Seems the Titans have quite a different look now than earlier in the season, with Wolfe out, O'Neil sitting, Yoder taking hold, Leritz playing many more minutes, and the Titans getting scoring from new players.  This very young team could be in for a good run down the stretch, surely great potential for the future with so many freshmen and sophomores playing all the minutes now . . .  no seniors really at all, and just Bair a Junior.  Looks to be a good few years upcoming . . .

Again, Congrats to #44.

IWU 88
Carroll 44

* Luke Yoder: 19 pts, 3 reb, 3 assists
* Matt Leritz: 12 pts, 7 reb
* Colin Cheaney: 10 pts, 3 assists

* Kale Maupin: 9 pts, 4 reb

After hanging a banner with "#44" on it, the Titans held Carroll to 44 and won by 44.

IWU was outstanding on the defensive end in this one, holding Carroll to 36% FG.  I was really impressed with the Titans' defensive intensity, focus, and communication throughout this one.

On the offensive end, having 6-7 F/C Matt Lertiz healthy and in the rotation now is a game changer for the Titans.  Lertiz is a big, physicial post who can score in a lot of ways in the low post.  Having him on the floor changes the way teams have to defend the Titans.

IWU PG Luke Yoder continues to look more and more comfortable running the offense.  Yoder is IWU's leading scorer in CCIW play (13.4 ppg), and is the leading FR scorer in the league.

2000+ at the Shirk Center yesterday and a wonderful celebration of Jack Sikma's induction into the Naismith Hall of of Fame.  I'm glad I went up - great day/evening on campus.
