Thank goodness IWU is Guard U, right? If not for all that stockpiling of guards, what would the Titans do right now. Am I right? [/sarcasm]

SO ... apparently my sarcastic comment (notice the "[/sarcasm]") was completely misconstrued by some. I get word that some (many?) are making comments offline that I was being ... well ... something. I am sure many of different descriptions.

Let me first set the record straight. My comment to those not aware was in regard to an insane "conversation" a few years ago where someone struck a nerve claiming IWU only hoarded guards ... the entire thing was nuts.

Here is a link to a comment from Pat Coleman: http://www.d3boards.com/index.php?topic=4592.msg1667303#msg1667303 ... you can find the rest of the conversation in the pages before and after.

Second ... to those who think I don't care about injuries either don't know me or somehow have ignored what they already know about me. I wouldn't take any injuries lightly. That said, I also can't keep track of injuries of a lot of programs ... let alone 420 around the country. So, while I understand Yoder has a broken hand ... I don't remember the injuries of other players. So for those who took exception of my comment as if I was not being understanding enough of the situation ... I am sorry that is how it came across.

This chat room is one that has a LONG memory and I thought of all the chat rooms to bring back a topic from a few years ago ... this is one that would appreciate that oddity.

Finally, for those who decided to contact others and make comments about my comment or me ... you are MORE than welcome to contact me directly instead. I don't hide my contact information or hide behind my words or user name. My email(s), Twitter account, and even phone number are available for anyone to use to contact me and express your apparent displeasure. Heck, you can even comment here or direct message me through this chat board.

If I am willing to make comments here and put a face on them ... you are welcome to contact me as well. I can then explain my comment to you personally.

I for one thought it was a well known trope. The team in green hoards guards, and Augustana hoards bigs to balance it out. :P

Everyone knows to run a 5 guard offense you need to hoard guards.

AND keep them healthy.  Jeez, first Wolfe is gone (perhaps forever), when he was on his way to all-conference; now Yoder when HE was on his way to all conference.  I think I'll switch my attention totally to the women, before the next PG (whoever it may be) gets run over by the bus! :(

iwu70

Ypsi, don't worry too too much.  IWU has options.  Likely Noe steps in, Schumacher can play PG.  We'll see.  Initiation by fire vs. EC, for sure.  Yes, sad about Yoder and Wolfe, earlier.  Still important games to be played.

To the CCIW Chat posters:  I can't recall - did the identity of iiwwuu ever become known for sure?  Sure sounded like the dad (or other relative) of one of the guards who lost playing time because Brady was so much better (NOT because daddy Rose engaged in nepotism). ::)

IWU has lost starting PG Luke Yoder for the rest of the season with a broken hand.

Luke is a stud who was playing extremely well. I think he had a good chance to make the 1st Team All-CCIW.

Huge blow for the Titans.

Tough loss, and I feel badly for the kid.

Didn't see him landing on first team, though. He probably would've been Freshman of the Year -- in fact, he still very well might be named FOY, even though he'll be missing the final four games, unless NPU's Karl Polk, Jr. finishes with a flourish.

He was the father of a Wesleyan guard named Jordan Turner who never got off of the JV team and eventually left the program.

This was an interesting nugget given some of the recent comments around sportsmanship:

K. Players are not to shake hands with opposing coaches or game officials or fist bump with game officials during introductions or before the game begins.

Yeah, I don't get that rule at all. What's the point behind it?

I think he had a good chance.

There are 8 spots on the 1st team.  I see these guys as locks
* Connor Raridon (North Central)
* Jake Rhode (Elmhurst)
* Pierson Wofford (Augustana)
* Derek Dotlich (Elmhurst)
* Nyameye Adom (Wheaotn)
* Micah Martin (Augustana)

So you have two spots left for:

* Jordan Kedrowski (Carthage)
* Kienan Baltimore (Carthage)
* Toby Marek (North Park)
* Tyson Cruickshank (Wheaton)
* Nick Penny (Carroll)
* Austin Elledge (Augustana)
* Lavon Thomas (Elmhurst)
* Calvin Fisher (Millikin)
* Luke Yoder (IWU)
* Matt Cappelletti (North Central)

I have heard a lot of opposing head coaches and assistant coaches talk about Luke Yoder this season, and they all seem to have a ton of respect for him and how he plays on both ends of the floor.  I think there is a good chance he could have been one of those final two.

Thanks to those of you on the boards who understood where I was going with my comment. I do appreciate that.

To those who read these boards with no context ... feel free to get to know me. There is plenty to talk about outside the CCIW as well. HAHA

Dave, no offence taken.  We all know about five guards and ample bigs, at IWU and Augie respectively.   Those narratives around a long long time on this board.

Be well, all, at least you don't have coronavirus to worry about . . . at least not yet.

I'm sure IWU will find a line-up for Wednesday night.

Nope, don't see it, Bob. Tyson Cruickshank looks like a first-team shoo-in; he's eighth in the league in scoring, fifth in rebounding (and is the league's best rebounding guard by a considerable distance), and he's one of the better shooters among the league's guards. Lavon Thomas is leading the league in rebounding by almost a full rebound per game, and he scores more than Yoder, too. Plus, there's always the chance that the coaches are going to insist upon putting another Cardinal besides Raridon on first team, especially if NCC holds serve and wins the league, and that means that Cappelletti gets on.
