Greek Tragedy

#52395
1. Platteville - 0.842 W% - 0.566 SOS
2. Wash U - 0.800 - 0.565
3. Benedictine - 0.857 - 0.493
4. SNC - 0.857 - 0.536
5. Eau Claire - 0.714 - 0.580
6. NCC - 0.810 - 0.523
7. Augustana - 0.727 - 0.578
8. Elmhurst - 0.818 - 0.526

----------------------------------

La Crosse - 0.762 - 0.530
Oshkosh - 0.619 - 0.618
Stevens Point - 0.667 - 0.603
IWU - 0.667 - 0.557
Wheaton IL - 0.619 - 0.546

A little surprised to see Eau Claire 15-6, 6-4 in there instead of La Crosse 16-5, 5-5. La Crosse did beat Eau Claire. *Edit - I do suppose there's a pretty big difference in the SOS.

No Point or Oshkosh, so they have a lot of work to do in the next three weeks...maybe too much work.

The big one in this region is UWSP not being ranked.  They don't have a stellar record, but they compare pretty evenly with Benedictine, so not being on there at all is a tough pill to swallow, for sure.

How do they compare?

BenU: .857/.493
UWSP: .667/.603

I know the numbers, but I don't understand how Ryan is saying "they compare pretty evenly".

Basically .. one has a huge advantage in one category while the other has a huge advantage in the other ... is what Ryan is getting at.

The disparities are wide enough each way to generally cancel each other out. That's all I mean.  If you look at Wooster-Wittenberg in the Great Lakes, you have some similar disparities that overcame a Wooster head to head win over Wittenberg.  Obviously, lots more moving parts in the Central than the GL right now, but I do think it's worth noting that Point could justifiably be #3 and they aren't ranked at all.  Not sure what it means, but it definitely means something!

Strength of schedule was the first thing that came to mind.

-Augie's SOS: .578
-Elmhurst's SOS: .526

Other thought that crossed my mind is that head to head/common opponents is a criteria, and even though they aren't counting RRO's yet, Elmhurst going 1-3 against the two teams above them (Augie 1-2, NCC 3-0) must have played something of a role.

Let me be the first:

Oof.  Elmhurst at #8?  Wow.

Recency Bias.

It's not, actually.  Looking at the numbers this one makes sense to me.  I think the vRRO will really settle a lot of things.  Benedictine is getting a bump for beating SNC - otherwise they'd be a lot lower.

Also, it looks like Augie's loss to NCC cost them four spots.  I think they'd be 3rd if they'd won that game.

I'll be interested to see how the rematch changes this in a week.

NCC is 3-1 vRRO (lost to BenU). Elmhurst is 2-3 (beat SNC).

Greek Tragedy

Technically, there aren't any vRRO yet. Those would take effect next week using this week's regionally ranked teams, if I'm correct. But, I get what you're saying.

Great win by the TITANS tonight over EC.  Leritz the difference.  Who needs a PG?  :)  Rhode finally missed a few in the latter part of the second half.  Hounded all night by the TITANS, esp. Lambesis.

NCC all over Augie and Wheaton going down in Wisconsin.

NCC looks close to a lock on #1 seed in the CCIW tournament.  A good battle for the #2 seed.

Now three tough road games for the TITANS to wrap up the regular season.

* Matt Leritz: 23 pts, 5 reb, 2 assists
* Doug Wallen: 21 pts, 3 reb, 5 assists
* Keondre Schumacher: 13 pts, 3 reb, 4 assists

Really impressive performance by the Titans.

IWU now in a 2nd place tie with Augustana in the loss column...and IWU owns the tie-breaker vs Augustana.

Mr. Ypsi

From B'town : IWU 85, Elmhurst 73.  Rhode had his 23, but so did Leritz.  IWU had 5 players with 9 or more.

Blue Jays from FF contender to bubble in just three weeks.

With the loss of Wolfe then Yoder, I kinda doubt that IWU will have a postseason run (or even make the postseason), but then I doubted them in both 2012 and 2014, so my prognostications should never be taken seriously! :P

Really impressive performance by the Titans.

Turnovers the biggest difference - Blue Jays 18 while Titans commit only 9.  Result was IWU having a whopping 14 more shot attempts (68 vs 54) while same # of free throws.  Tough to over come that difference.

I have no idea who has the most double-doubles during this CCIW season.  Anybody have an idea?  I read Sean Johnson recently had one.
