Leritz is in pretty awesome company there, Q.   We all know about Sikma, but Sheldon Thompson was not chopped liver either.

Ron Rose and the Titans have landed Parker Wolfe, a 6-0 G from Effingham HS.  As a SR averaging 26 pts, 5 reb, 2 assists, 4 steals.

Was 3rd team 3A all-state as a JR - https://app.box.com/s/nn3qr0xs0etleh9khuz0446uqupvi0n5...

I've heard Parker is a really good player.

Is there a family in Illinois that has produced more players than the Luechtefelds?

The Wolfe's?

Gregory Sager

The Luechtefeld he listed was actually named Keith, not Ken.

In terms of basketball families with broader family trees (including cousins), I'm thinking it's the Reibels from the northwest suburbs, the Harrigans from the far South Side, and, going back a couple of generations, the Judsons. That's just off of the top of my head.

Niebrugge would have to be a winner.

Yes, Keith...sorry, Keith.  Typed Ken right above that and it messed me up.

Knew you guys would know. The Luechtefelds of course are well known in St. Louis as five of them played for Saint Louis University.

All-CCIW team...

https://cciw.org/news/2021/3/17/cciw-announces-2021-all-conference-mens-basketball-team.aspx

Congrats to all!

I guess Augie's Duwa was considered a freshman while listed as a Soph?

Also I'm glad to see EC's Dominic Genco get the nod.  I've always thought he played at a pretty high level albeit somewhat overshadowed by Rhode.

Congratulations to all these young men for what they accomplished and overcame this season.

Gregory Sager

Congratulations to Toby Marek, whose being named to the All-CCIW team for a second straight season is a nice capstone on a fine career as a Viking.

Carter Duwa was a bit of a surprise for FOY, because I thought that he had played at least a little bit last year. Turns out that he hadn't, so he was eligible for the award. No complaints here about his beating out Mike Osborne (and Justin Steinike, as well) for the award.

I'm not the least bit surprised that Nyameye Adom won MOP. I knew it wouldn't be Fillip Bulatovic, even though he's the league's best player, because, as I said the other day, the coaches don't like to give that award to sophomores as long as there's an upperclassman who is at least vaguely in the vicinity of being the top player in the CCIW (which Adom certainly is). Again, no complaints.

I think that the only player who really got ripped off is Cade Alioth, who most certainly deserved to be on first team. But I get why the coaches did not want to put three Wheaton players on first team, especially when Wesleyan didn't have three, either. The fact that it's well-known that Alioth is coming back for a fifth year might've been a factor in how that vote went as well.

Okay, am I the only one out there who would replace Sean Johnson with Jordan Boyd? (Fully acknowledge I haven't even compared their numbers - just watched them both quite a bit this season).

I would not make that switch.

Sean Johnson is a game-changing defensive presence around the basket.
