Meanwhile, NCC won its first of two straight in Michigan, knocking off Kalamazoo 84-73. Matt Helwig led the way with a 30-9, Ethan Helwig scored 20, and Blaise Meredith chipped in 18 (plus a technical according to the box score).

Ty Horkey paced the Hornets with 27, while Lukas Broadsword put up 15 and 9.

The Cardinals play at Olivet tomorrow afternoon.

Olivet beat Hanover today and is a really talented team.   I think I'd favor the Comets in that one.

Holy Helwigs.

Has to be the most single game points ever scored by brothers in CCIW history? Easily?

41 for Matt and 22 for Ethan? I'm not sure what the previous record was, but this has to be it.

88-70 win for NCC.

So a quick, cursory glance that admittedly only goes back so far because I can't remember many brother pairs: the Fishers combined for 50 for Millikin once a couple years ago against NCC (that was the "Millikin's Video Feed Cut Out Before Mike Pollack Did Mike Pollack Things" Game).

Really glad Logan and Aston Francis didn't overlap and both end up at Wheaton, because if they did it's basically a guarantee that they'd hold the record and it would be something absurd.

If that is a record, the prior one they beat was Aston Francis' 62 all by himself. Who needs a brother?

I once had to stay in Marshall MI during the week long ago as I worked a case at Olivet College, which is located in a town that has no hotel or motel.  So glad to leave.  I cannot believe that Olivet continues to be financially solvent after all these years.  To say the community is a town and gown is quite a stretch.  I thought the same of Anderson U, but at least it can draw students from its Church of God denomination.  The town of Anderson got hit very hard when, according to Ross Perot, that "giant sucking sound" sent auto industry jobs to Mexico.

Olivet, both the college and town,  had some tough years and the college an identity crisis in the late 90's early 2000's but both the school and town are actually thriving pretty well right now.  The best example I can give is the school district has gone from a Class D in the 80's(smallest in Michigan) to Class B today (2nd level), the downtown has no vacancies that I can recall and the college is probably on its best financial footing in decades.

Its a small, rural community and probably will always be destined to remain so which isn't a bad thing.

The Titans fly ORD to LGA today...practice at Yeshiva tonight.

IWU plays Mount St. Vincent Wednesday 1pm ET, then Yeshiva Thursday 8pm ET.

Safe travels, Titans!

About 30 minutes ago, with IWU at O'Hare, Mount Saint Vincent cancelled the 12/29 game with IWU due to Covid policies.

IWU is getting on the plan to NYC at noon still.  The Yeshiva game is on - fans expected at Max Stern AC.

I believe the plan is for IWU to find a replacement non-conf game once home.  Maybe play North Park in a non-conf game?? Who knows.

Crazy times.

UWSP/IWU, January 29th.  Have played some great March games in years past.

Too bad about the Mt. Saint Vincent cancellation.  Hope all those affected by Covid are OK, in time.

Good luck to the TITANS vs. Yeshiva . . . should be a great game.

Happy New Year to all the CCIW Chatsters.  Let's hope 2022 is good to us all and that the pandemic wanes soon.  Here comes the Tiger Year . . . what could possibly go wrong???  :)   LOL

IWU made it to NYC.

Practice at Mount St Vincent tonight, then at Yeshiva the following days.

I hope the Titans have a safe and careful trip, with not cases on the team or staff.

Enjoy NYC Titans!  My old neighborhood near Mt. Saint Vincent in Riverdale where my son went to high school, and tons of fun in NYC more generally . . .  but a time to be very careful.

Good luck vs. Yeshiva . . .

Why not? The NPU women and IWU women did exactly that last year.

Perhaps some other CCIW team will have to jettison a game from the schedule due to Covid, turn to North Park to cover the hole in the schedule, and the Vikings could thus pick up the other game canceled by Covid. Thing is, I'm already nervous about the status of the two road games (at Eureka on Tuesday afternoon, at Rockford on Thursday evening) that NPU is supposed to play this week.

Seems to me that making up vanished games by scheduling conference opponents as fill-in contests is the way to go.

Today's NPU @ Eureka game has been postponed. I can't say that I'm surprised, although I'm disappointed. But at least it's merely a postponement rather than a cancellation; there's still hope that it can be rescheduled.

Do you happen to know who had to postpone?

It's hard to tell because both teams sites mention their next games are still tentatively on—Friday for NP and Sat for Eureka.
NPU's last scheduled game vs Dominican was also postponed so perhaps the bug has bitten the City guys as opposed to those in Eureka?
So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

The NCC-Hope game at 6:00 Central Time tonight, originally scheduled to be available on live stats and audio, has now had video availability added. No such indication as yet regarding NCC's game vs Central on Thursday.
