Carthage at Carroll Wednesday night also postponed this morning due to health and safety. Not sure what team. Carroll also announced pre-approved home fans only at indoor events through February 4th.

Maybe Millikin should play an available team Wednesday?

As the sad snowball of CCIW postponements starts rolling down the hill, I have a bit of happy news: North Park has added a game. The Vikings will host Benedictine on Saturday, January 22 (NPU's bye date in the second round-robin). This replaces one of the two Covid-erased cancellations (Knox and Dominican) dealt to the Vikings before Christmas.

Replacing the second missing game might be a bit problematic, because it would likely mean a Monday game that would cut into prep time for a Wednesday CCIW opponent. Yeah, MIAC teams are used to Monday-Wednesday-Saturday weeks, but it's a concept that tends to make non-MIAC coaches a little skittish.

The North Park athletic department has updated its spectator policy in order to comply with the dictates of City Hall.

Augustana is following the same policy—-Proof of full vaccination (boosters not required) or written confirmation from a medical professional of a negative Covid test within 48 hours of tip-off.
So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

Why is the medical professional necessary?  Is that a local ordinance or are they really worried about people faking test results?

Information available to me suggests they aren't really worried about people faking test results. But, rather about allowing admittance to someone who might present results from one of the many home test kits whose popularity has exploded lately, but the results of which are often inaccurate.
Contrastingly, testing by a medical professional is usually done in a medical office environment, and analyzed in a lab thus producing accurate results on a much more frequent basis.

Gotcha.  They're just looking for some lab test overseen by people who know what they're doing.  I was just curious, because I'm scheduled to get a PCR test in the morning and one of our state testing centers, but I won't get anything from them besides an email with the results.  I guess I'm old enough so that "written confirmation" still means "on paper" in my mind.

New poll has IWU at #3, with Yeshiva dropping to #5.  I actually think Wheaton and Wash U would also beat Yeshiva.

Wheaton and Elmhurst in the top 15 teams.

I assume and hope that will be sufficient.

Although still on the roster at Elmhurst, Lavon Thomas has not appeared in a game since 12/4. At that time he was major contributor averaging 11.0 PPG, and shooting almost 59%. His continued absence could certainly hinder the Jays' championship aspirations.

Additionally, AA Jake Rhode missed EU's last game. Needless to say, an extended absence by Mr. Rhode could prove disastrous.

IDK if this factors into the calculus, but we may need some unknown number of Mondays for rescheduled conference games.

IWU/Elmhurst postponed.

Unless one school updated their web in the last minute or so, the postponement is not mentioned on either school's web site as yet so it's impossible to tell if IWU, EU, or both have Covid.

The postponement list just keeps growing. Unfortunately, there seems almost nothing that can be done to avoid the evil Covid bug, especially the Omicron variant. I've recently heard of a situation where four team members are currently infected. ALL four are fully vaccinated, practice social distancing as much as possible especially in light of some dunderheads total disregard of the concept, and for several days before becoming infected, wore not just any masks, but the N-95 type which has been said to be the most protective. Yet here we have young guys who exercise basically every day, are otherwise in top physical condition, and who have taken every possible precaution, yet still contract the virus. It seems like there is just no escape unless you stay locked up in your house, and that's probably still no guarantee.
Starting to worry about the feasibility of being able to complete the entire conference season. There are only so many make up days available, and that's assuming that, going forward, the virus can be held at bay by all the member teams.
