Hastings is NAIA school with an enrollment of about 1,000 students. They are members of the 12 team Great Plains Athletic Conference which has members in Nebraska, Iowa, and North and South Dakota. This is the conference that Nebraska Wesleyan was a member of when they held dual NAIA-NCAA membership. Last season Hastings finished last with a conference record of 2-18. They were 7-23 overall. Coach Raridon has a big job ahead of him.
So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

Don't surround yourself with yourself. 🧍🏼‍♂️(Yes)

Congratulations to Coach Raridon on a successful tenure at NC.   I wish him well in his new role.

Fun fact, which I just learned the other day from surveying the Hastings Broncos basketball page in order to see what Todd Raridon was getting himself into, and which may not interest anybody other than myself and inveterate Oklahoma football fan (and, thus, long-time Cornhuskers hater) Mark Erickson, is that Tom Osborne scored over 1,200 points as a Broncos basketball player.

I knew this.

Roberto, if there was one factoid that I ever figured would be in your wheelhouse, it'd be that one. ;)

Wheaton is hiring a new AD. (https://recruitingbypaycor.com/career/JobIntroduction.action?clientId=8a78858b5ea24795015ea61343603556&id=8a7887ac7fa619dc017fb7822d3776d6&source=&lang=en)

Sounds like Julie Davis, who has held the position since 2011, is moving into another role within the college.

There may be implications for the men's basketball program. Too soon to say, though.

Next Man Up

If you know anything about Wheaton, especially about it's basketball program, and you look at the requirements for the AD position, I think you quickly realize that a certain individual that has been in a leadership position for some years now could readily handle the job with aplomb.

Well, after all, we were warned ...

There may be another head coach job opening in the CCIW this off-season. Hearing rumblings about another move in the conference. Nothing substantiated yet, but stay tuned.

Saw via Q on Twitter that Luke Yoder is in the transfer portal. Big blow to IWU.

There are currently over 800 players in the transfer portal, a vast majority of them at current D1 institutions. Last year there was 1,732 players in the portal. And there are another few thousand HS recruits trying to get scholarships. All that to say the competition to get scholarships has never been higher. I have no clue as to Yoder's ability to get a scholarship (which is presumably why he would enter the portal) but if he (and Leritz has entered as well) can get a D1 offer to pay for some grad school, go for it!

NYU had a player graduate and look for opportunities in Division I, but ended up playing for a Division II on a scholarship for an MBA program.  Something to watch for.

Don't expect the coaching vacancy in Naperville to be filled anytime soon. The hiring process at that institution moves at the speed of the global tectonic plates. In fact, it's possible that the North American, South American, Australian, and Asian continents will merge together in a supercontinent form prior to a new coach being named.

(btw - a CCIW alum w/ ties to two conference members is a likely finalist.)

I mean, everyone is thinking Steve Schweer so why be intentionally vague with the name? :)
