Kennedy is from Illinois and Holy Cross is basically a NESCAC school at this point. It would be a good move for him, especially if he wants to be on the Big10 radar.

I think that is right. The latter part. North Central is a really good job.

I don't recall ever seeing a hiring situation for a head coaching job in which two of the finalists were former teammates. Anthony Figueroa and Todd Kelly played alongside each other for Millikin back at the turn of the millennium on some pretty good Big Blue teams that also included Brad Skowronski, Adam Provance, Antione Ford, and Hercules Moore.

So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

Non basketball related, but Carthage men's volleyball team repeated as National Champs yesterday holding off the #1 team in the nation, Springfield, MA.  Carthage won the first two sets, dropped the third and then won the fourth.  Final four was held at the Tarble arena so it was quite the atmosphere with a reported 2,175 in attendance.

Carthage was represented with five (of 10) first team all Americans.   And one second teamer.   Of their top 8 players, five will be back next year.

Maybe Stevie D should recruit a couple of those guys to the basketball team. Even if they can't shoot, I bet they could do a heck of a good rebounding job with the way the can get up!   :)

Not just teammates. They were also roommates!

Mark,  The team is loaded with size.   Two of the returning all Americans are 6'6" and 6'7"  and are middle blockers so besides rebounding, they could certainly protect the lane.   I know you were joking, but what it shows is Carthage can recruit outstanding athletes for the volleyball team, we need to have that carry over to the basketball team like in ages past.

That's OK. One of the things we've always done here is make note of national championships won in other sports by CCIW schools.

Congrats to the Firebirds!

NPU's Mike Osborne is abandoning the Viking ship, trading it for a magic carpet ride to a loftier D1 or D2 spot in the basketball cosmos. He has entered the mystical "portal," and is inviting any coaches "looking for a high motor guard" to check him out. He says he is "open to all options." Evidently, he feels his D3 North Park experience and .362 and .216 shooting percentages will garner offers from higher levels that somehow didn't materialize prior to his matriculation at North Park.  ::)

Osbourne possessed the most talent on the Viking team team the past two years.  With his strong frame, vision, and ball handling skills, he should have been told to penetrate the paint much more often.  I did not see much offensive scheming in the post-conference title years, and the team was not a legit threat from downtown.  Osbourne was perhaps the best defensive CCIW PG last year.  He had a connection with NPU's assistant coach who is now gone.  His portal status does not surprise me at all.

Isn't it nice that we haven't seen any posts re: players from a certain CCIW school receiving D1 offers and another committing to play at a D2 school.

"Best of luck!"  ;)

And none predicting that incoming newbies will automatically become future stars just by virtue of putting on a certain color jersey before they ever see a second of game action.  8-)
