Getting into a flamewar with North Central fans about banners would fall under the category of "poking the bear."

The fact that the vast majority of the national hardware NCC has earned is the direct or indirect handiwork of one man (and I have no problem whatsoever with stating that Al Carius is, bar none, the greatest coach in CCIW history regardless of sport, especially since Al's also one of the nicest gentlemen this conference has ever had), and that, unlike men's basketball, the running sports are non-spectator competitions that don't draw a lot of attention under normal circumstances, really doesn't deflect much from NCC's accomplishments, no matter how much the rest of us might wish otherwise. The bottom line is that North Central had Al Carius, and the rest of our schools didn't, and that's that.

Still, if you've gotta settle for a mere five national championships, you could do worse than to have them all be men's basketball national championships. Dunno about you specifically, Steve, but I'm sure that there's a lot of Augie alumni who are quite happy that Augustana's four national titles were, likewise, all won in one of the two high-profile sports.

I see Al a couple of mornings each week waiting on his guys to return from the morning run.  He's never too busy to stop and say hello.  Best coach and amazing person!  Anytime he speaks, there's always a takeaway!

For several years many NCC fans attending games at NPU have discussed among themselves how nice it would be to have a scoreboard like NPU has to the right of its gym stage on the west wall of The Hangar. We complain all the time that our scoreboard doesn't show point totals or running foul totals for players currently in the game. It has long been held that the same type scoreboard you have would be ideal as it would provide the information we are missing during a game, and it's the perfect size for the amount of space available on the right side of The Hangar's west wall. The fact is, rather than being an object of scorn, we're envious of what you have that we don't. 

I'm not sure why you continue to assume you always know what other people are thinking when you truly have no clue, are are so often incorrect in your assumptions.

Do you see the word EVEN in my post? No, you don't! If you had, you might be correct in your assumption/conclusion.

But the fact is that when I thought of what I/we would love to have, I first thought of what you have. I was knocking my school, not yours.
My post was meant as nothing but a compliment, and out of admiration for the Crackerbox setup. I'm sorry you misunderstood my intent.

Beginning late this afternoon, and picking up speed with each passing moment is the rumor circulating among several levels of NCC followers that an offer to become head basketball coach has been extended to one of two finalists, pending final negotiations concerning salary, and completion of a background check.
Furthermore, it seems about 99% of those seemingly in the know believe the offer has been made to one specific individual. Unfortunately, if the combined intuitions are correct, it basically means that many people were spot on in what they felt was more or less a predetermined sequence of events from the moment Todd Raridon's resignation landed on AD Jim Miller's desk. That being that the combined feelings of any alums, players, parents, insiders, or boosters were never, for even a minute, going to be considered even though those feelings were supported by experience and facts, and not solely based on familiarity/friendship. And if the rumor is indeed true, the result will be based not on what has been earned, but on what a pretty sizable number of the NCC basketball family sees as a predetermined agenda set in motion by the appointment of someone who cares not much for the institution, but more so for the power of the office and the associated ability to effect an agenda based on a personal agenda and perceived correctness.

And one more thing—-If an offer has truly been extended to the person many people think, it means only that the selection process was flawed, not that the designee is incapable of doing a good job.

Honestly, no. Been dealing with a health issue my wife is going through, one of my own, helping take care of our granddaughter, and trying to be somewhat of a campaign manager for a certain coaching candidate basically all at the same time lately, has left me worn a little thin in the comprehension department.

The admin seemed to be vibing with my vision for the program.

First change: since the candy cane striped uniforms have brought more doorstops than we have doors for the cross country team, there's gonna be a new look to the team's uniforms.  With the boost we receive from NCTV-17's coverage, we expect these will go viral much in the way that "Mumford Phys Ed" shirts did after their star turn in "Beverly Hills Cop".  This will bring unimaginable riches to the athletic department, and will facilitate change #2.

This seems uncomfortably Indiana/Wabash-esque for an Illinois-based school. But, hey, you're the new boss.

Homewood-Flossmoor High School circa the 1970s-80s is deeply offended by your suggestion that this has no roots in the Land of Lincoln.

Not sure what the delay is with regards to the announcement of the new North Central Head Coach. It must take longer nowadays to get a background check done then it used to. At this point everyone knows what is happening as the secret is out of the bag and spilling across the table. Actually, there was never much more than a very little degree of doubt as to what the ultimate outcome would be.

Unfortunately, should the choice be who is widely expected at this point, the manner in which the decision was made, and by whom, will at least somewhat cloud the fact that North Central is going to get a good man, and a good coach.
