Not sure how you, Greg, know about the AA's academic profile, unless he told you directly.  Any other source...I suppose excluding a teammate...would be a FERPA violation.  Based on a website that listed players who hired agents, Mr. Robinson hired an agent after his junior year.  Maybe my source was a ruse.

He and I discussed his academic situation a couple of times, and it was common knowledge around the program (and, indeed, around the league). Otherwise, I never would've mentioned it in this forum.

Your source was incorrect, unless "after his junior year" is taken in the literal sense, rather than either of the implied senses of "immediately after his junior season ended; i.e., sometime in March" or "immediately after North Park's 2015-16 school year ended; i.e., sometime in May."

Or it could mean before the draft.  In other words, why wouldn't he take time to shore up his grades over two semesters and return for his senior year?  His grades couldn't have been that bad b/c then he would not have been eligible during his remarkable junior campaign.  Knowing today that his grades sucked, I think he said screw D3 and I'll go pro somewhere.  And that is the path he ultimately took.

NCC President has "resigned". I do wonder if one or two of the coaches who let would have stuck around if they had assurances of that outcome.

Umm... during the Spring semester of his Jr year, he did not pass a single class. He simply stopped going. There was no feasible way to regain his eligibility, so he simply went the route he did.

At the collegiate level, academic eligibility is derived from a semester/quarter-based viewpoint (unlike HS which primarily relies on a weekly eligibility system). In a variety of sports at numerous levels, there are plenty of examples of athletes simply "tossing in the towel" after the last academic measuring point they deem important. In a multiple semester sport like basketball, that means the end of the Fall semester is final eligibility checkpoint that one needs to successfully pass to compete in the Spring semester/remainder of the basketball season.

Whether headed to the professional ranks or some other individually important rationale, an athlete can easily choose to put themselves into point-of-no-return scenarios while still competing in their season. The NPU coaches knew what was happening and were virtually powerless to prevent it. You can lead a horse to water...

NCC fans should hope that it leads to a cascading restructuring of the personnel with athletic department oversight. Despite the overall "lightning in a bottle" competitive success experienced by the Cards this season, there are clearly some administrative governors that will restrict sustainability and future potential achievement.

Certainly lot's of people leaving NCC. I have a list of about 8-10 football players I would like to see "resign".

He did ... or at least he thought he would. He was in school for fall semester 2017-18.

Look, can we get off of this topic? NextManUp should've never broached it in the first place. While not a violation of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, this entire conversation does not feel right. I only said what I did because I did not want people to read NextManUp's unfortunate post and think that Jordan had done something other than neglect his schoolwork.

I do think it is great that Jordan Robinson is playing in the TBT.

If I am the new North Park coach, every Viking recruit is going to know about it for a while.

The President is(was) only 1/3rd of the triumvirate that has recently turned what has been a finely tuned and highly efficient athletic department into the quagmire it has become over the last year or so. The overall high level of achievement of several of the NCC teams is a testament to the talents of many of the coaching staffs and the leadership of AD Jim Miller who triumphed despite the depressive atmosphere created by President Hammond, his wife Sue Kane-Hammond (the Asst AD) who "resigned" last week, and the remaining charlatan Jessica Brown, VP in charge of Athletics. Brown, brought in last summer from powerhouse Eureka College and put in charge of both men's and women's sports, has no appreciation for either the past accomplishments of the various sports coaching staffs, or the winning atmosphere they created over the course of multiple successful seasons. While equal opportunity should be a pillar of any successful organization, Brown's only objective is to advance a policy wherein opportunity for any open coaching position is anything but equal. This is a policy that has resulted in an atmosphere which has  recently been described as one that is "no longer fun to work in" by highly successful departing coaches while undergoing their exit interviews. And what kind of VP in charge of Athletics talks to the Head Coach of a major sport only 2 or 3 times all year, and pressures another head coach to hire a top assistant who is of a specific ethnic group? Then there is the widely rumored matter of the VP in charge of Athletics not knowing the rules regarding using personal funds to aid a specific student-athlete with tuition costs. Any restructuring of the Athletic Department, would not be meaningful without Jessica Brown joining Troy Hammond and Sue Kane-Hammond in the ranks of former NCC employees.
So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

Surprise, surprise, USee. NCC fans feel exactly the same about an equal number of Wheaties. Shall we exchange lists?  ;)

By "resigned" in quotes, should we take that to mean that the president was asked to resign by the board of trustees?
