I understand why the all-region voters might have resisted putting more than three CCIW players on the Region 8 First Team, but it's unfortunate for Filip Bulatovic that he ended up down on the Third Team.  It's not a significant difference but a Second Team honor would look better on his resume as he sits in the transfer portal, hoping for someone to give him a scholarship for his fifth year of eligibility.  He's such a versatile player that he would be a great pickup for a team looking for a final piece or some additional depth for a championship run.

Fun fact: Two of the fifteen all-region players hail from the same hometown (Tyson Cruickshank and Dan Carr from Highlands Ranch, Colorado), which is nowhere close to Region 8.

I also wonder if like, statistically, this year wasn't quite as good as last year or maybe on par, if that influences these votes as well - wanting to reward improvement over a steady performance.  Clearly, he's on the list, people know he's good.  I'm just not sure all the psychology of these things.

Let me guess ... Mike Schauer is stepping down as head coach to become the permanent full-time AD at Wheaton.

Seems logical to me that Ben Panner would at the very least. Get an interview for the Head Coach position , if Coach does move up to Athletic Director.

I can't imagine Mike wanting anybody else for the job besides Panner, but the school may require him to open it up to a general job search to fill the position. I don't know the inner workings of the Wheaton administration well enough to know what sort of hiring latitude the school's AD has, but I doubt that there's many D3 schools left in which the AD can just unilaterally hire (or, in this case, promote) a coach.

We sure Schauer as AD was the big news and not Cruickshank as a Jostens Finalist?

I didn't think Mike was really keen on the top job right now.

Does Cruickshank qualifying as a Jostens finalist qualify as "big news"?

Besides, Aconsmu's quote:

News from Wheaton coming soon. Stay tuned.

... makes it clear that the news was coming from Wheaton, not from Owatonna, MN.

(Owatonna is where Jostens is based.)

You referenced the wrong Panner brother.  Jon Panner is the assistant coach, and would be a logical choice for consideration as a future head coach, but I suspect that Ben Panner will remain in his current profession as a minister.

Just for fun, I'm going to throw out the reminder that former Wheaton Assistant and Anderson Head Coach Owen Handy is back in town. That's a resume worthy of consideration if he's interested.

I would think a national search would be conducted.  And I would have to believe that Handy would be interested and given strong consideration.
