Expert:  someone who used to be pert.  Yeah, we have a lot of those!  :D

Chalk Hope up as another that won't play on Sunday either.  The hockey team would have had to forfeit the title game a couple years ago had they made it to the final.

I don't know that Hope's ever faced a situation where Sunday competition came into play for a whole squad.

David, I respectfully correct you on the etymology of the word, "expert".

Actually, it goes thru several modificiations of spelling as the word came thru Ellis Island.  Phonetically we understand its origins to be:

Ex-  meaning "former"
-spurt meaning "a little drip under extreme pressure." ;D

Chris Martin was impressive, but I agree with FDF that he is a cheap shot artist with a flair for flopping and whining. Any CCIW observers notice this as well, or is this just normal reactions from a passionate senior on the losing end of a close game?

Although Nick Michael scored 17 points, it looked like he had 17 traveling violations that Ernie Cryer and Tom Hoffman absolutely refused to call. He gets the arena's first "Patrick Ewing" award for most egregious interpretation of the step-and-a-half rule.

I don't believe that Chris Martin has a flair for whining or flopping.  I will say that Chris plays extremely hard, and some times will give out a good foul or two, but that's because his motor is always going, and he absolutely doens't want to lose.  How did Michael score his points mainly, down in the post, or out on the perimeter?  He's a good perimeter shooter for a big man.  By martin's standards that is not a very big game statistics wise, and I think you can look forward to many games this year that blow that out of the water.  Just my opinion on Martin.

Wabash junior Ryan Stephens not only bears a striking resemblance to Titan Hammer (current Titan Hammer - not early '90s afro Titan Hammer), but his defensive tactics are also similar...

I always heard the Hammer went for the 'full nelson', not just hooking ONE arm!  Have I been misinformed? ;) ;D

The NCAA has on file, from the teams that put them in, letters of school policy regarding Sunday play.  They are very good about making sure that teams that have notified them are scheduled into Friday/Saturday schedules rather than Saturday/Sunday play.  The idea of Sunday play is to keep student-athletes from missing class a bit less.

When Gordon College was scheduled into a Saturday/Sunday bracket for a tournament a year or two ago ( I think that it was in women's lacrosse), I called the NCAA to inquire about it and they admitted their mistake and offered to change the dates for us.  Our policy is that if an outside entity schedules the game in a post-season tournament (NCAA) that we would play, but would not ever host a game on Sunday.  We did not ask them to inconvenience the other teams at that point.

The NCAA should get some credit on this, since people want to bash them on everything else.

Mr. Ypsi

Yeah, but in fairness to the other boards, Greg, Q, and I probably have 15,000 of those!

(Of course, we've probably got at least 30,000 spread among the other boards as well!) ;D

Chris Martin is definitely a hacker and whiner.   I have not seen him flop.  Regardless, he's a well-rounded D3 talent.

Greg - Thanks for the in depth Wheaton-Aurora recap. Lucky for us you passed on NCC.

I'm encouraged by this weekend. Deep down inside I had a feeling that this team would find ways to step up, but it's nice to have some physical evidence. That being said, I'd just as soon get a win. :)

Sounds like typical Chicago-style ballot stuffing to me! :D
