Alright, Greg,

Fifteen yard penalty for piling on!

(Oops, wrong sport.)

Sorry, Chuck. But I've always wanted to do my Tom Skilling impersonation on CCIW Chat. Go ahead and ask me about isobars or thermal layers or jet-stream buckles ... c'mon, go ahead!

That sudden gust of northerly wind that just rattled my windows must've been the huge sigh of relief cast by the entire city of Bloomington, Illinois.  :D

Oh man, I've been waiting my whole Posting Up career for an opportunity like this...

That would be a southerly[/b] wind, Greg.

I'm smarter than yoo-ou!  I'm smarter than yoo-ou!  :P ;D ;)

I'm not even going to bother with thermal layers, etc., until you figure out that mass sighs of relief in Bloomington would give you southerly winds, not northerly!  (If they all collectively gasped, THAT might produce northerly winds!)

[Well, I can think of one exception for you to save face - perhaps you meant they were all facing Millikin when they sighed, thus diverting the entire jet-stream! ;)]

YPSI,   Do you like Pitt-4  or Sea +4?

One word response will do.

Will compensate you with that case I owe KM.

So which team do you want my bad mojo to jinx?! ;)

Between The Bus (a Detroit native) and Big Ben (from the MAC), my heart says Pitt.

With my luck lately, Congratulations on your Super Bowl, Seahawks!

[Aha, outfoxed you - I went both ways so you still don't know what to say to your bookie!  I know darn well I was being set up so you could pick the opposite.  My shrink says I'm paranoid, but I KNOW he's just out to get me, just like all you other guys!]

Of course you are. You run an entire spaceship, and you killed off Frank Poole.

Open the pod bay doors, Hal.

OK, it's true confession time. The weather segment is usually where I head off to go make a sandwich or check my e-mail. Serves me right for having the audacity to drag the name of Chicago's master meteorologist into this.

Depends upon whether you think Decatur sucks or blows.

Even if you DID get the wind direction wrong GS, applause for you for the Tom Skilling post!

Personally, I agree that it SHOULD be as you wrote it... if you take your position as the origin, the wind vector would be pointing North.

I can understand an argument that would say that it is incorrect to think of the origin being where you are (instead it should be from the WIND's origin, with the vector tip where you are) but I contend that the wind doesn't STOP at your position, but rather passes through your position... to continue on a northerly course.

I believe the general response on the board would be - Yes.

So does sucking and blowing simultaneously mean they cancel themselves out?

Or does such behavior explain why they are blue?

[The one or two Millikin posters better come back soon to defend themselves, or this could get ugly!]

Just a friendly reminder, WONC does every NCC game. Some people were asking if the game was on the radio and there's your answer. Unfortunately, there isn't the same crew every night, but it is a learning institution. Always check it out cause there are quality broadcasters at WONC.

First and foremost, I would like to say that I love you just the way you are augiefan, and I hope you never ever change!  :-* The board just wouldn't be the same with out your negative comments, just like it would be totally miserable without Stat and Jim's one liners, or Greg's extensive vocabulary... or mwunder's biting wit on his random occasional dropins. (hi!)

Pressure seems to be a valid reason in this case.
I appreciate your affirmation. (bows) Incidentally, nice use of erudite! :)

Sometimes it's easier to beat the team that can't be beat than it is to beat the team that has figured out how to win.
I like this... does this come from somewhere? Or is it a roop original? :D

Titan Q is very good at commentating...i love when he admits that Augie is the REAL DEAL!!!
okay, I have absolutely no reason for reposting this whatsoever, I just find it extremely funny! :D

Quote from: augiefan on January 26, 2006, 08:30:58 PMAs to April I encourage you to order tourney tickets. If Wheaton doesn't make it, we can make you an honorary Augie Viking.
I don't know, I think probably, you're gonna have to allow the conference tourney contenders send me pics of their head coaches families, and then I'll cheer for the one that has the cutest kids. Coach G has a nice head start though.  ;)

Given April's outcries after several of the Augustana vs. Wheaton rugby scrums games played during her stay in Belushiville, I'm pretty sure that she considers "honorary Augie Viking" to be an oxymoron.  :D
Hey now, I just think they're fouling the whole time. Nothing more than alot of other teams. And I've, uh, given lots of cookies to augie people... just ask Dave Wrath! Yeah! :P (man, someone REALLY needs to say hi to Dave for me).

Oh, I know the feeling! :D ;) On the other hand, Greg really doesn't need to check the weather during the winter, since he lives in chicago... it's always going to be cloudy, and REALLY REALLY cold. It's sorta like how we don't need to check the weather, cause it's always sunny and warm!  ;D :P

I am nearing the four year mark since I started posting on the site (have already passed my four year lurking mark), and I was trying to remember what the old message board looked like earlier today, and I couldn't. :'(

On the other hand I did save one of the smilies from the most recent posting board besides this one.

Ah, the crazy smile, may it rest in peace.

"If you're talking about playing a tournament with the best teams in the country, without question the CCIW should have at least two teams," Scherer said. "I feel like any four of those teams (Augustana, Elmhurst, IWU, North Central) could be Final Four teams."

That is a statement I agree with -- I do believe the CCIW legitimately has 4 teams that are "Final Four caliber."

I am trying to make a "George Constanza opposite play."
I ask for a one word answer.
I get a complete psychological evaluation.
And I still don't get an answer!

I'm just taking the points.
