Mr. Ypsi

Mark, let's hope for four more games - but I don't think they will happen unless Keelan gets the record within the next two games (preferably one, since the next is against #1 Lawrence)! :)

While I'm not crazy enough to say a sweet sixteen game is the 'real' title game, I do think that the winner of IWU-LU should be the favorite in every following game

Late nite

Best intensity for the Vikes in the past 4 weeks---They were hungry tonight---Harrigan played a terrific all-around offensive game---Delp was solid as a rock with the ball---1 turnover and excellent leadership---Nate Swetalla played his best game in the past few weeks, knocking down some key shots when they were needed---Brusveen keeps burying 3 point bombs---McAdams-Thornton played like a man who wasn't ready for his college career to end---Great all-around game from everyone---If the stars continue to play this well and the contributions continue from their deep bench, Augie will be very tough to beat---I can see it now---Augie vs IWU next Saturday night for the right to go to the Final Four!!! Doesn't get any better than this.

Last year the NCAA opted for the higher seed and sent John Carroll, Miss College and Calvin to Albion Michigan.

An old, small gym with no parking.

And they split the admission, which is to say, one ticket for the first game, a second ticket for the next game.

Those making a comparison to Randolph-Macon obviously don't remember that at least Macon sat 1,682 ... and IWU didn't sell all its tickets. Lawrence doesn't seat anywhere near 1,682.

The UW-Whitewater A.D. told Scott Trost that the sectional would be at Lawrence and I also heard that Augie's A.D. told their staff the same exact thing.  There must have been some call to the A.D.'s today during which they explained that if Lawrence is part of the Sectional field, they're the host.

I assume we're all traveling to Appleton.

UH???  I thought they ALWAYS sold all their tickets, and then some!  ;D  Must have been back during the horse and buggy days then.  ;)

Just over 1700 at Whitewater tonight for the regional championship game against host Whitewater and the traveling army of the IWU contingent.

Whitewater fans should be ashamed of themselves.  They basically sold out (2500+) the 2600 capacity last night...though Carroll had a very nice sized crowd there last night.  Still...the Warhawks hadn't been to the NCAA tourney since '97.  Disappointing in my opinion.

That's too bad...more fans deserve to see that sectional.  But, Lawrence deserves it.  Boxscore attendence for the sold out St. Thomas game shows 1,100.  Won't be too hard to sell your 275 tickets.

The Titans, led by Adam Dauksas, were outstanding tonight.  The only Whitewater lead of the game was 2-0.  IWU jumped out to a 17-6 lead at 15:24...29-13 at 11:46...and 47-27 at halftime.  Dauksas had 21 in the 1st half on his way to 31 total...he was 9-13 from the field, including 6-9 from 3.

The Titans shot 59.5% (25-42) and scored 85 points vs a team that holds opponents to .419 per game and gives up 65.1 points on average.  IWU was 10-18 (56%) from beyond the arc.

IWU's two All-Americans, Dauksas and Keelan Amelianovich,  combined for 51 points, going 16-23 from the field and 9-14 from 3.

This was a Whitewater team that had won 10 straight heading into tonight, including wins @ Stevens Point, @ Oshkosh, vs LaCrosse, and vs Stout.  What the Titans did to a national power on their floor tonight was really something.

Q,
While I think the trip North is correct, I know that neither the Augie AD or SID had any indication as to where the sectional would be.  The Augie AD spoke on the PA saying that they when they found out, they would post it on their website.  In fact when asked the question the reply was that, "We won't know until we get a call tomorrow."  So, I am quite confident that their wasn't a call today.  However, I think the result will be the same.  Truth be told, I don't think it is the wrong thing either that the only undefeated team gets to host.  That would mean that I can't go to the game, but it isn't a perfect world.  Congrats to both Augie and IWU on knocking off the WIAC tonight.  I know that it was good for the Vikes to get a little revenge tonight and any time a team wins against Whitewater on their home court they have to earn it.  Sounds like the Titans certainly proved their mettle.

93, thanks.  I can't confirm the Augie side of the story, but I do know the Whitewater A.D. told Scott Trost that it'd be at Lawrence, and it didn't sound like there was much doubt about it.

We'll see what happens.

In the Titans big win at Whitewater, I think one key stat was:

Jeremy Manchaster, WIAC POY:  FG 1-10, 3s 0-5, FT 7-11, Total Points 9,
A 4, TO 6.  Whoever was guarding him should get alot of credit for IWU's win in my opinion.  Our All-Americans put us some points to be sure, but some other guys were making some stops.

Lawrence's stats indicate that their home attendance average is 1329 so their Gym must be a little bigger than indicated here earlier.  Looks like a very balanced and disciplined team, though IWU appears to have a size advantage on them.

The Roop

I don't think you can disrespect an undefeated #1 by moving them and having them play the home team in the first game, so IWU really shouldn't host in my opinion. However, I see no reason why Augustana can't. Especially when you consider they have a bye in their game so the host would be playing both nights. Augie will have more people in one night than Lawrence would have in two, even if they do clear the gym between games as has been rumored.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves yet---Augie beat IWU twice this year when it counted and lost in the conference tourney to a Titan team that was desperate---Augie WILL NOT be as soft defensively as they were in the conference tournament---That's why they play the games

Late night I couldn't have said it better myself...It's amazing how when IWU starts to get back on track how the green nation comes out and starts pounding their chests again...don't get me worng IWU is a good team, but it never stops amazing me how IWU fans can view the world through such green tinted glasses

Congrats to IWU and Augustana!

Late nite and 2000, I'm not picking up on the chest pounding or anything inappropriate coming from IWU fans.  I'm sensing some loyal fans who are proud of their team and excited to be heading to a sectional.  How bout sparing us the drama, huh?
