I have now seen several references to Robert Rexroade from Seneca heading to Millikin. He is a very talented player who certainly has a chance to make an impact on the CCIW. I have seen very few CCIW games in the last ten years, but a player that Robert reminds me of is former Titan, John Lipic. I know it isn't fair to compare an incoming freshman to a CCIW MOP, but Robert shares many of the characteristics that made John such an outstanding player. He can play outside, guard several different positions, and he posts up stronger than he looks. He isn't as intense as John was, but that may come.

Sometimes even newspaper accounts of recruiting news should be viewed with skepticism. Here's a report from the Waukegan News Sun:
http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/newssun/sports/5_2_WA25_SIGNINGS_S1.asp

Not only am I pretty sure that Gurnee Warren's Jordan Dalton is going to Augustana in South Dakota, but I'm also pretty sure that Augustana in Rock Island doesn't play in the Midwest Conference with Lake Forest.

If they do, I've been posting on the wrong board for the last year. And, as I've said before, I'm better with limericks than haikus.

That entry from the Waukegan paper achieved a level of ignorance worthy of the Tribune's "coverage" of D3 athletics. But my favorite part wasn't the erroneous reference to the Midwest Conference, or the confusion of the two Augustanas. It was the mention of Augustana being located "on the Illinois-Iowa border". It's been awhile since I set foot on the Augustana campus, so I was unaware that the school was now located on a barge floating on the Mississippi.

Jon Yeh went to IWU for a couple years.  What is ENC and CCC?

Titanfan, I lucked into a great eavesdropping opportunity at a Barrington HS game where Mark Scherer was talking with Conger (is it?) from Lake Forest and a third D3 coach who escapes me at the moment.  From the sounds of that conversation as well as a brief talk I had with Scherer after that, it sounded like Elmhurst was not the only CCIW school after Childs.

He's a very deceptive player.  Deceptively quick, quicker acceleration than I was expecting looking at the kid.  He can stop on a dime and pop the J, and seemed to have very little trouble finding a shot for himself as well as dishing off.  He looked a little weak physically, but he was a competitor.  Should be fun to watch, and he should help Elmhurst's perimeter game a lot, which in turn will open things up for the big men down low.  Childs could be a valuable addition.

ENC is Eastern Nazarene College and CCC is the Commonwealth Coast Conference.  Someone mentioned once that there is civilization beyond the CCIW but I wasn't sure until now.  ::)

Somebody ought to make a poll like ESPN does, and see who everybody favors, just in case Denny is unsure.  :P

Augiedad,

What is your source of info?  Has IWU already notified those not selected?

Looks like the MIAA continues to be geographically isolated.  Time to look for some winter break trips to the southeast.

Is it really that much further to go to Ohio than Illinois?

According to Brian Stinnette at chicagohoops.com, Childs chose Elmhurst over Augustana and Lake Forest.
