Is it really that much further to go to Ohio than Illinois?

No, but the OAC and NCAC would have already been considered in region for them.  I think that takes up most of the Ohio and Indiana schools within 200 miles.  With the wealth of DIII schools in Illinois, the MIAA (with the exception of Hope because of the closer proximity to Chicago) would have had no problem getting a few more in-region games.

Ahh, I get it.  You were just hoping for more options.  That's true; the MIAA will still just have to travel.

Looks like they could pick up a few opponents in the HCAC though.

It does give teams more options for opponents... unless you're CMU.

Down to the 4 interviewees at IWU:
John Baines (Elmhurst, Asst)
Todd Raridon (North Central)
Ron Rose (Bloomington H.S.)
John Tharp (Lawrence)
Somebody ought to make a poll like ESPN does, and see who everybody favors, just in case Denny is unsure.  :P
Ask, and it shall be given unto you. :) I thought it would be interesting to know what people think. I added a few options just to make life extra interesting.  :D ;)

I like how they felt the need to include random Western states that have no d3 teams, and who are not likely to get a d3team anytime soon.  ::)

Region 4 is a good representation of the number of teams that are in that area. Wheaton will just have to schedule trips to So Cal for their winter break every year now.  8)

I just really hope I don't confuse the EPA regions with the D3 sports ones on some important report for work!  :D  :D :D :D

This is a good way to do it... the wider in-region sense, especially for Texas, since they weren't helped by the 200 mile rule at all! I'm still bummed that Calvin isn't a regional game though.  :-\  :'(

Happy belated birthday April.  :-*
It's too late to give me a birthday kiss, someone else beat you to it.  :P ;)

Thanks for the warm wishes everyone. I would have responded earlier, but I was having too much fun in Mexico and too rude to get onto a computer.  8) Have I ever mentioned that I love my job... :)

Diehardfan  -  What?  No SLIAC games????? :'( :'(
If April makes it out to St Louis for a SLIAC game, I'll drive across the barren wasteland that is Missouri and show up too.
Probably not a SLIAC game.... A UAA game possibly. I liked St. Louis and wouldn't mind exploring it a little more. I still need to bungie off the arc. We can have a reunion there with David and invite Hoops Fan for kicks!  :-*

Ah yes, it all makes sense to me now.  Was there any mention of your posting up profile picture in this pick up?  I hear that reference goes over well.
Not as well as they would like.  :D

If ever meet a random person on the street where I live (breaks out into the My Fair Lady song) who follows D3 hoops I will probably fall over on my face in shock. :o

Looks like the MIAA continues to be geographically isolated.  Time to look for some winter break trips to the southeast.

Is it really that much further to go to Ohio than Illinois?

For Adrian, Olivet and Albion, a few Ohio schools are closer than Chicago

For Hope, Calvin and Kzoo, Chicago is a good 3 hours closer.

Alma is far from everywhere.

People forget that 90% of the D3 schools in Ohio are East of a line south from Toledo.  Ohio Northern and Defiance are reasonable drives but its a solid 2-21/2 hours further to the next closest D3 schools around Columbus.

Personally it takes me just about 3 hours to get to Toledo from Holland.........on a good day I can be in downtown Chicago in the same amount of time.

This new criteria doesn't do much for the MIAA because the schools in the additional states.......... the MIAA just doesn't play much.

I find it hard to believe that the Hope assistant isn't a possilbility.  He has been at Hope a long time according to the program and they have won some games there.  Must be he's not the profile they were looking for at IWU if all this conversation is true.
