As long as we are talking about Wheaton wrestling (sort of....) Wheaton has their new list of recruits up here http://www.wheaton.edu/Athletics/wrestling/index.html.  Too bad North Park no longer has wrestling, looks like the kid from Heritage Christian in Wisconsin would fit right in name wise!

There's two Swedish-Americans listed among Wheaton's wrestling recruits, Lars Skoglund (the kid from Wisconsin that you mentioned), and Tim Hedberg from Florida.

Shoot, I missed that one.

Speaking of Wheaties with very Swedish-American names, I wonder whatever became of Bjorn Johnson. The CCIW room on d3football.com has become a whole lot less fun to read ever since the Mad Swede ended up on the side of a milk carton.

Word has it that he has just completed an extensive kitchen remodel.  Perhaps he will be making another appearance soon.

That thought occurred to me as well, but I don't think that Shelby Wood is going out for basketball at NPU. The basketball coaches haven't mentioned him as a recruit. I don't have any direct evidence of this, but I think it's more likely that Wood will join fellow NPU quarterback and pitcher Justin Schwan as a dual football/baseball player at the Park. Or perhaps he'll simply confine his athletic endeavors to the gridiron.

Wed, Dec 20 -- vs. Coe, Dominican, or Lake Forest ^
Thur, Dec 21 -- vs. Coe, Dominican, or Lake Forest ^
^ Holiday Tourney @ San Diego, CA

The tourney in San Diego is being set up by Lake Forest head coach Chris Conger. The idea of D3 snowbirds staging their own warm-weather tournament might be something of a growing trend; I know that Whitworth has been organizing such a tournament in Hawaii for several years now, and there may be others. The idea is to use the annual snowbird trip but to avoid all of the pitfalls of being an unknown team far away from home at the mercy of the host school in terms of things like fees, lodging, meals ... and referees.
Yes! I'm glad a CCIW school is coming out here this winter. Although I missed out on the IWU trip, it was really nice to have Wheaton out here last January. North Park and some other Midwest schools (and technically one West region school) will be a nice consolation prize. That actually has the potential to be a good tournament with none of the teams being amazing, but also not completely terrible either. (lol... totally going to get in trouble for that)

If that rule that was being discussed is finalized... the one about all games with various west region states being in region for us now, all these games will be in region, but will be at an incredibly nicer location in the winter months than IL or IA.... San Diego has to be one of my favorite places in the world. LA is incredibly overrated, but San Diego is incredibly nice. Anyhow... fun stuff, I hope this is a trend that grows... especially if it means good DIII hoops out here in Cali!  8)

Hello all.

Pretty much out of the loop since I have not seen Bosko at the track yet.  No info to report on Carthage.

Glad to hear no one has died and all is peaceful on the site.

Games between teams from the same region are considered in-region no matter where they're played.

I'm sorry, I meant us as in the CCIW, not us as in my new home region. I was referring to the fact that Coe, a West Region team, would be in-Region for the other teams in that tourney if the rule is finalized.

Oh, OK.

I like your once-a-CCIWer-always-a-CCIWer attitude, April. But I suspect that it means that the SCIACers will always consider you to be an interloper.  ;)

Lol... I'm still an alum of a CCIW school! :P I can't change that, and certainly don't want to! I love Wheaton! And I love the fact that we're a part of the CCIW too... well, at least most of the time. :D

Given the annoying racism dialogue on the SCIAC board... I'm not sure I'll ever be able to think of it as my home board, even if they did throw down the funniest Greg Sager tease ever. :)

Racism?  In SoCal?

Yeah, the posts basically said something to the effect that the neighborhood around his school was nice, and not poor or "ghetto" because there were no black people around. I like seriously almost had a conniption... I think that, unfortunately, there's probably still racism everywhere. I still remember some pretty scary stories from fellow ethnic minority students at Wheaton about their interactions with townfolk and the police... and students.

April, as sad as it is to say, there is probably a touch of racist in every human being.  We need to realize this and work to correct it.  It is also good to remember that many times people say something that is insensitive or racist and not realize it.  I also think that we as human beings have become too thin skinned, we need to develop a thicker skin and not be insulted by others ignorance.

I suppose its easy to say some are too thin skinned when you're not on the receiving end of the insult.

Wow; this might be a topic to add to the "let's not talk about this on this particular board" list along with the politics and the religion.
