I know Mr. B personally, and I can vouch for the fact that he has a very valid reason for using an alias for his Posting Up identity.
Or you could just click on his screen name and see what email address he's registered under.
I don't know, Greg has been in charge of ousting a whole bunch of people... if that was really him, I think Greg would have already figured out that his identity wasn't hidden.

If for no other reason than the fact that people can be very rude, I'm perfectly fine with anyone who hasn't been a jerk choosing to "hide behind a moniker"

Hoopsfan actually didn't count. He did just cut-paste of the post in word... we were just teasing Greg on his verbosity on another board...  :)

Yeah, I'm either lazy, resourceful or a cheat, depending on how you look at it.

How about... busy with work? :)

No, that's never it.

I know.  I was just relishing the one time I was fast enough to point out the obvious.  It doesn't happen much for me on this board.

A poster chooses to use a nickname (or "moniker," if you are so inclined) for any number of reasons.  The one I use was given to me years ago by a North Park student-athlete, and it's just sort of stuck with me (although for several years the student-athletes have referred to me as "Dr. B" -- I've just decided to stick with the original).

April, I'll drop my moniker even though I have nothing to say.

LOL... Jim everyone knows who you are (well except me I guess, since I've still never met you!) There's nothing wrong with hiking, I went on a nice long hike on Saturday. :P

Interesting explanation, but you totally don't need to explain yourself at all. I've never perceived you to be "hiding" in any negative sense at all... and anyone who thinks that is just plain wrong. The only time I've ever gotten annoyed at someone "hiding" was... IWU Titan Fan... and what was that Wheaton fan's name that was incredibly rude? If someone wants to be mean they should at least have the courage to put their name with their rude awful statements. I'm mostly just glad that you're not letting Dennis and his random animosity at the world (which was directed at you for a moment) get to you! :) Greg's right too... you're basically ALWAYS are the first to drop a game score on here... and totally don't deserve criticism. Do you go to every single sports event??  :o

I have been to every home football and basketball game for the past several years.  Many of my students (men and women) are also athletes, so I like to be able to show my support for their efforts.  Unfortunately I don't have time to go to volleyball, crew, cross country, or many soccer matches.

Hey, Pat......

I propose a new thread/forum........anything to do with North Park.

diehardfan

That's actually against the terms of service.  :P

4) No one team needs a conversation of its own. If there is already a conversation about that team's conference, I will remove the new conversation.

Don't you just love people who whine and don't fix the problem.  :P ;)

Hey, Pat......

I propose a new thread/forum........anything to do with North Park.

Are you offering to be the moderator?

Gregory Sager

As far as I'm concerned, the so-called "Battling Bickersons" episode is over. Last night I thought that I was simply responding to Dennis along what were very obviously basketball-related lines (NPU's upcoming fortunes in 2006-07, Brenegan's ability to turn the program around, etc.), rather than merely hurling insults back and forth. I did respond to his "choose to embarrass the program and the school" accusation, which is not basketball-related, because the integrity of the young men who have worn the NPU uniform over the past six years was challenged and I felt that it was important for me to stick up for them. And I also got Mr. B's back because, well, he had mine.  ;)

I apologize to those of you who recoil in horror at long posts. I'd rather be thorough than misunderstood. And it was probably necessary to give Hoops Fan and April some comic relief, since Roop is in a bit of a slump in the MWC room.  ;D

To answer Dennis' two basketball-related questions, as briefly as I can:  :D

1) I'm not speculating about NPU's 2006-07 record right now, or declaring what CCIW games I think they'll win. As those of you who have read CCIW Chat over the space of several years know, I'm very cautious about such prognostications. I don't participate in the annual preseason prediction pool that Chuck runs and Bob records on his website. I like to be able to see as many CCIW teams as I can in November and December before I really feel as though I have the lay of the land for figuring out what's likely to happen in January and February. Sorry, Dennis. Feel free to rant about my evasiveness all you like.  ;)

2) Jay Alexander has an excellent chance to be an All-CCIW player this coming year. Jason Gordon has perhaps an even better chance. A healthy Jason Gordon is a serious talent on this level. He's a player who can do multiple things well, and he is very hard to stop when he's making good decisions with the ball. I haven't seen enough of Mike Church or any of the other newbies to speculate about their All-CCIW chances.

I predict NPU will finish above .500 this year and will have more than four conference victories.  The 2007-08 campaign will be even better.

In other NPU basketball news, AJ Ecker, a successful insurance agent based in MN, is presently a caddy for a female Swedish golfer on the LPGA tour.  AJ's brother, Cal, is attempting to forge a musical career (www.frenchlickmusic.com).  Their cousin, 6' 8" Jack, is rumored to have enrolled in North Park's Seminary.  I think AJ played one year for Bosko - the other two are younger.

If someone representing Millikin, Elmhurst, or North Central wants to contribute to a discussion about basketball, bring it on!

The Big Blue have a great story returning to the team this season with Vincent "Vern" Brock coming back to the court.  Here is what I know:  Vern came to Millikin from Parkland I believe four years ago with the hopes of being the backup point guard and a major defensive presence.  At that time, he was also working with the National Guard.  Before the season started, he was called into duty overseas ending his season.  Two seasons later, he was back on campus looking forward to playing ball.  A few weeks before the season, he recieved orders from the U.S. Army to serve 18 months in Iraq.  Vern was very upset about it, but it was his duty to serve his country.  I was checking on the roster and looked into it, and Vern is back this season, finished with his duty for now.  Vern is an outstanding person and will hopefully be a leader and be seen on the court as possibly the backup PG for Drew Gensler.  I really think it is a tribute to the young man, who I believe is almost 25 now and just wants to play college basketball and recieve his education.  I have always looked up to Vern since I have known him.

Other Big Blue news is that Mike Gavic is back from ACL surgery, the same thing that Gordon from NP is returning from, and is absolutely huge!  The two senior leaders on this squad, Mike Gavic and Bryon Graven will have great years, and with the young core of players, I look forward to watching them this season.  It will certainly be exciting.
