I apologize to those of you who recoil in horror at long posts. I'd rather be thorough than misunderstood. And it was probably necessary to give Hoops Fan and April some comic relief, since Roop is in a bit of a slump in the MWC room. 

Greg, I always read you posts... well, almost always.

The Big Blue have a great story returning to the team this season with Vincent "Vern" Brock coming back to the court. 

That is a great story! I'm glad he's back at it. Best wishes to him, and sincere gratitude for his service to our country!

Other Big Blue news is that Mike Gavic is back from ACL surgery, the same thing that Gordon from NP is returning from,

NPU actually has two players returning from ACL surgery, Gordon and senior small forward Mike Peterson. Peterson averaged 12.3 ppg in the last four games of the 2004-05 season for NPU, including a 22-point performance at Wheaton. He tore his ACL in fall practice last year. A third knee casualty, freshman center Glen Woodside, missed almost the entire 2005-06 campaign with a torn meniscus and received a medical redshirt.

I agree with April -- this is a great story. And perhaps it's a sign of age, but I always root for the older guys who come back to school, put on a uniform, and play college basketball, a la Horace Jenkins of William Paterson.

In other NPU basketball news, AJ Ecker, a successful insurance agent based in MN, is presently a caddy for a female Swedish golfer on the LPGA tour.  AJ's brother, Cal, is attempting to forge a musical career (www.frenchlickmusic.com).  Their cousin, 6' 8" Jack, is rumored to have enrolled in North Park's Seminary.  I think AJ played one year for Bosko - the other two are younger.

I think A.J. played for two years for the Park (1992-93 and 1993-94), and Jack played three (1992-93 thru 1994-95). Both started their college basketball careers at Black Hills State, an NAIA school in South Dakota. So A.J. is caddying for a female Swedish golfer on the LPGA tour? That sounds like something out of the April Fools edition of the North Park Press! It's cool to see what Cal Ecker's up to now. I wonder how many other former CCIW players have their own CD out?

I might have to somewhat agree with your take on Millikin this upcoming season.  They have a very intriguing lineup, and could definitely make some noise.  However, it takes time to dispell old attitudes, and we all know what type has been looming in Decatur for the past several years or more.  This year will still be a transition year, even with quite a few returners.  Besides, they got swept by North Park last year, how embarrassing is that?!? Sorry GS & KD, but it's the truth!

I agree Bball fan...The Big Blue will probably be up and down, but I am hoping for more consistency this year.  Last year, MU played terrible against NP, yet played well enough to defeat Augie, NC, and Elmhurst!  They will be very young inside and someone is going to have to provide some depth on the perimeter.

I see on Augie's website that Rick Harrigan and Jay McAdams-Thornton are going to play professionally overseas. Apparently Jay is already playing in Uruguay and Rick is headed to Ireland to play for the Limerick Lions. Congrats and best of luck to them both. Interestingly (or maybe not), Jon Steven played for Limerick last year and it looks like he averaged about 30 a game according to the basketball Ireland website. Also, Josh Hinz from Beloit will be playing in the same league this year.
