Then again, there are those of us that use the fadeaway as our single greatest weapon.

I'm pretty sure that Jason Genova played for Brother Rice, not St. Patrick's.  I'm surprised nobody has pointed that out yet.  He played alongside Frasor, now a member of pre-season ranked #2 North Carolina.

"Reuben Slock Syndrome" is an interesting and comical term.  He had a huge fadeaway!  It was so big, it faded himself right out the door at Elmhurst.

Genova played for St. Patrick...

Bobby Frasor's backcourt mates at Brother Rice were:

2002-03: Mike Harrigan (IWU's probable starting 2-guard)

2003-04: Dave Telander (Loyola)

2004-05: Kevin Harrigan (not sure where he is now)

(Had he started as a freshman at Rice, he would have played with Rick Harrigan...and this year Matt Harrigan will start.  Brother Rice point-guards either get a Telander or a Harrigan as their shooting guard.)

Well, AndOne...what a way to start your relationship on this board "in my opinion"...jumping to conclusions in YOUR interpretations of another's comments and now the criticizing and name calling of players....hmmmmm....I read this board much more than I post as the posters on this board are very knowledgable, respectful, supportive---I learn a lot from them....perhaps you should READ more too instead of offering up unnecessary lip service.  Just my opinion.

Titan Q---great article---thanks for sharing.

"I agree with your analysis of NCC's frontcourt. Also about Augie's. I think Elmhurst's is pretty good as well, but not quite up to the level of the other two. I am a fan of Brent Ruch. I think he is very good and will be a force. Nick Michael is good too, but, in my opinion, plays a bit soft. He is also a whiner when calls go against him."

What does "played JV" mean?  Do you actually have a JV team or is that another moniker for practice squading?

T2K,

The CCIW schools play a JV schedule that is more abreviated than the varsity schedule, but it gives underclassmen some valuable on-floor experience.  Carrying a JC sched does cost more, but the exprience is usually quite worth it.

Good web link to the East Suburban Catholic All-Conference Teams.  I must have seen him play against Frasor, not with him.  Nevertheless...............

Anybody check out the Pre-Season All-American Teams?  Anthony Simmons is a very good player, but does he merit a 2nd Team nomination over Zach Freeman who got a 3rd Team nomination?  I'd take Freeman if I had to choose between the two.  How about Kent Raymond garnering a 4th Team nomination?  Not bad for sitting out all last year.

Which one of those three will win the league MVP?  I actually think Raymond might get it.

TBF,

After seeing IWU at UW Whitewater last year, Freeman was my pick for the preseason POY.  He doesn't quite have the surrounding cast he did last year, however.  That's not to say that the Titan's cupbords are bear, but when a team loses two All-American perimeter players, the pressure on the inside players tend to be much greater than the previous year.

I haven't seen Raymond or Simmons play, but I'd almost have to give the nod to Raymond (depending a bit on the overall standings at the end of the year... often times, unless someone it far and above the competition, it would go to the leader of the conf champ) because, as a guard, he will most definately handle the ball quite a bit more than either Simmons or Freeman.  Guards always get more touches, and the touches of big men are contingent completely on the guards ability to get the ball to them when and where the big men can do something with it.  (And this is actually a true statement, not just me being bitter because my entire life I've been a big man!)

As a forward, Simmons was considered with other forwards. As a center, Freeman was considered with other centers. Simmons landed higher among forwards than Freeman did among centers (or Raymond among guards, for that matter).

Freeman is in a good preseason spot...hard to argue with either "center" in front of him.  I do believe Zach will make a run at the 1st Team spot though.  He just has to go out and prove he can do it without Dauksas and Amelianovich.

Do they have fans and cheerleaders and groupies like the varsity teams?

AndOne

No cheerleaders that I have ever seen. Just a few fans and, if they're lucky, a few groupies. Many of the fans are parents. Most of the CCIW JV games are played at 5:15
when students are starting to think about going to dinner, and adults are on the way home from work.

Speaking of JV teams---IWU sure has enough players to have a JV team. However, last year I was told they refuse to bring a JV team for a preliminary game when have an away game scheduled. Do they even have a formal JV team? If so do they only play before home games? I'm sure some IWU fan can help with this info.

Late nite

EC Mom---Good call---AndOne should never let the facts get in the way of a negative opinion---Michael (soft) is a very skilled D3 player who finished in the top 10 in rebounding in the conference last year---Brusveen (the ball hog) averaged 4 shots a game last year---Those are facts, not opinions---Let's keep this positive---They're not professionals

TBF, do not forget Simmons was unanimous 1st team all CCIW last season.  Freeman was second team.  The more shocking nomination is Kent Raymond.  Garnering a 4th team nomination after sitting out a full season is quite amazing.  However, I don't believe he will get POY over Simmons, Freeman, Walton, or D. Swettalla (my top four candidates)for that matter if all play up to their capabilities.
CARDINAL PRIDE STARTS WITH ME!

Mr. Ypsi

Having seen Raymond 2 years ago, IF he doesn't miss a beat for sitting out a year, his winning POY would not surprise me at all.

Though I'm predicting Freeman.  (In fact, I predicted him for this year before last year!)
