The Titans defeated Blackburn last night (at the Beaver Dome) in their final scrimmage, but I was not there and don't really have many details.

In Boston visiting my sister.  Going on a tour of Fenway Park in an hour and really looking forward to it.

The Fenway tour rocks.  So totally worth the money.  Enjoy.

Good interview with Kent Raymond on the front page.  After reading it, I have to pat myself on the back.  Last year, when he decided not to play so he could spend more time on his faith, I rhetoricall asked about if we have God given talents (his obviously is a tremendous bball talent), wouldn't God want us to utilize those talents to the best of our ability?  Well, it looks like Coach Harris was reading my posts and used it to say the exact same thing.

OK, probably not, but it makes for a good story anyways.
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

On the topic of scrimmages, does anyone from the IWU crowd know if there will be an alumni game? If scrimmages are over and there's no IWU JV, then I guess not...?
under 20 posts in 10 years...got some major lurking going on

Late nite

Augie beat UW-Platteville by 18 tonight---Guard play was strong---knocked down a bunch of outside shots vs a huge Platteville team---much better defensive effort than the scrimmage against Aurora

I don't think there will be any alumni vs alumni games, no.

Will be at Giants Stadium tonight to cheer on the Bears.  The Rex Grossman jersey I bought a few weeks back for this game seemed like a better idea before his blowup vs Miami.

Go Bears.

Anyone have any details on the IWU-Blackburn scrimmage or the Millikin-Greenville exhibition game?

Grossman sucks.  If the Bears want to win the Super Bowl this year, now would be the time to make a trade.

Here's are Bosko's comments from the press release section on their website:

"Having so many freshmen and unproven players is a different kind of situation for me, but it's a good situation.  This freshmen class is outstanding.  We have three or four freshmen who can be all-conference type players and a couple who will be really fine four-year players.  I don't know if we're going to be a contending team this year, but I couldn't be happier with what we have.  The foundation is set for the next two or three years, and that's the first time in several years that I've felt that way.  The last two or three years have not been particularly enjoyable, and the wins and losses are only a part of that.  The multiple starting lineups and the multiple players that we were trying to identify never did quite work.  We have better role identification with this group, mainly freshmen, and they will work extremely hard to build this program back to what it was three or four years ago.  It's not that we haven't been competitive, but we haven't been competitive at the level we want to be."

I know there has been conjecture back and forth as to the turnover that has taken place the past few years.  I think Bosko addresses that quite well and is back on track to building the type of program we have seen in the past.  As I said after seeing their scrimmage against Ripon, the chemistry looked good amongst this group and even though they may have to survive some tough stretches this year, the future looks bright !!!

Here's my shot at preseason predictions for the CCIW:

1. NCC
2. IWU
3. Augie
4. Wheaton
5. Elmhurst
6. Carthage
7. Millikin
8. NPU

After NCC I think the league is pretty balanced with IWU, Augie and Elmhurst losing some incredibly talented athletes from last season. I suggest we have another go at it once the nonconference season ends, since injuries to key players and surprising newcomers always seem to impact teams as the season progresses.

I thought I'd share with the group the predictions for the conference from the 2006-07 Wisconsin Men's Basketball Yearbook.  This magazine has been around 20 plus years and is really a wonderful resource for anything related to basketball in Wisconsin for High School, Junior College and College.  It gives a nice capsule for any team that will submit info and lists the top players in the state all all levels.

Not sure who on the staff did the research but here are their predictions:

1)  North Central
2)  Millikin
3)  IWU
4)  Carthage
5)  Augustana
6)  Elmhurst
7)  Wheaton
8   North Park

NCC's the favorite, sure, but... I'm going to go against the grain (a little!)
