Very interesting Greg.
I wonder if any other conference can match the CCIW league record to date?
Thanks for your work/breakdown.

That's meant as a witticism, of course, but it's not a statement of fact.  Even if Wheaton had, say, a magical wardrobe that transported people instantly to far off places  ::), Wheaton and Calvin are still more than 200 miles apart in the eyes of the NCAA.

David, I wonder if you and I are the only non-Wheaties who understood this clever but extremely obscure reference of yours?
No, I got it, too, and I'm definitely a non-Wheatie.

Pat Coleman

I'm working on 45 minutes' sleep and I got it.

And the lack of sleep may be why you got it.

I'm in.

I would like to point out that I got it as well but no one got my train joke. We're talking about Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, right?  ;D

Robert Strzemp is currently listed as out indefinately with knee tendentious.   He is currently doing rehab and the team hopes he will not be forced into surgury.  This could be a huge blow for the BlueJays if Strzemp does not return.
Huge test for the men of EC tonight as OshKosh is one of the few teams that plays bigger than them.  I'm looking forward to the Gibson-Michael and Ruch-Capelle matchups.  This game will undoubtedly come down to who can make the outside shots, or if the one teams can get the other big men in foul trouble.
If that is the case Elmhurst has given up a lot of threes (42-97 in four games) , but this shouldn't lead one to assume their outside D has been poor.  Rockford, Simpson, St. Norbert and IIT have seemingly set a record for bail out threes/poor shot selection threes made over the first four games, and that streak has to end sometime soon.
This game (and all games except for the Orlando trip) will be covered online if anyone chooses to listen. wrse.com or 88.7fm the now 320-watt station of Elmhurst College sports (I know, not huge, but better than the previous 60-70 watts).

Solid win- a win that was never in doubt after the first five minutes, no matter the opponent.
Impressive win- win over OshKosh tonight.
Different terminology for different people.

How the Heck does Augie move up four spots in this week's national poll? I'm not complaining, just a bit surprised. Wow.

I don't know, but maybe Giovanine (sp?) can sell the secret to Lloyd Carr.

Can I point out the obvious and say they've yet to lose to a d3 opponent and some teams who were above them, have?  It's not like they didn't get leapfrogged by two other squads.

Thankfully, we have a tournament (D3 football too) and don't have to mess with that BCS crock. BTW spelling is right on :).

I was just looking at the stats for Coe, Augie's next opponent. Admittedly, four games isn't a very big sample and other than Wartburg they haven't played the toughest schedule, but .572 from the field, .491 from 3-point range and a 37.0-22.5 rebound margin is pretty impressive. They do average almost 20 turnovers so, hopefully Augie can take advantage of that. The Vikes better (cliche alert!) bring their A-game Saturday.

I understand that losing to an NAIA school doesn't count for the purposes of regional rankings and NCAA tournament selection, but I thought it would be taken into account when compiling the Top 25? Am I mistaken?

Mr. Ypsi

You're not mistaken - d3 voters do take account of non-d3 results.  But I suspect some may take LESS account than others! ;)  (Pat once sent me the packet of info he sends to his voters [I'm not one, but he's a nice guy!]; I can't recall now whether he covered non-d3 opponents as thoroughly as d3 opponents, but I'd suspect probably not.  Keeping up-to-date tabs on 300-something d3 teams is tough enough without expecting him to know everything about everybody, especially when it's not even his day job! ;D)

Never look at a team's movement in the poll in isolation - you have to also consider what teams above and below them did.  I'll be running the Posters' Poll starting in January, but haven't started studying teams quite yet so all I can give is that general advice (which you were probably already well-aware of)! :D

WLCALUM83

Put a grain of salt with Coe's result against WLC. Two of the Warrior starters and 2 of their top reserves didn't even see action in that game. (IMHO, Coe still would have won, but not by 31 points).  ;)

Is there anywhere online that the Elmhurst-Oshkosh game will be webcasted? Finally have a night where I can kick back and listen to my ex-high school teammate Ryan Burks play.
Never play leapfrog with a unicorn.

1)  There is no way that Augie is the 11th best team in the country.

2)  Last night's game was like playing against a pretty good high school team.

3)  Chandler Collins played pretty well in place of Oliver Rorer (although they still need him back as soon as possible).

4)  Alex Washington needs to play more.  He is the smoothest player Augie has and the most natural scorer.  He might be the only one on the team who can somewhat create his own shot.

5)  Sometimes when Dain gets the ball in the post you can see the wheels turning in his head and you can call the turnover before it even happens.  It seems like a lot of times he tries to force the ball somewhere instead of making the easy kick out.

That is all.
