Sure, Larry U's most recent loss, last night, was not taken into acct for this week's ranking.  Larry U lost last night to UW Oshkosh, and the rankings are "Through Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006" as written on the top of the poll.

The North Central record is in error.

Carthage wins by 19 today out in Las Vegas. Carthage was up by 23 at half and really didn't have much trouble today...

Hopefully Carthage will win the 4 team championship tomorrow.

How are other CCIW trips going?

Be careful - those palm trees can jump out at ya during the blizzards! ;D

IWU won at Hanover 84-65.  Hanover led 41-35 at the half but the Freemans led a big second half to give IWU the win.  Freemans scored 45 and had 18 boards (A - 25 & 7, Z - 24 & 11).

Hanover was 12 of 40 from three.  They were 11-30 from two.  In the first half, Hanover was 9-23 from three.  In the second half, they were only 3-17.

IWU is still having a hard time with the ball - 17 turnovers.  IWU dominated the boards, 44-26.

Good win for the Titans.  The Freemans are pretty dominant.  Hope the Titans can sort out the TO issue.  Going into the CCIW schedule, Titans will likely be 7-4.  Not bad at all given the quality of the opposition and the changes in the team and coaching staff.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all CCIW chatsters and members of the Titan nation.

Fought a head-wind on the way home...took 52 minutes.

Gotta love the Madison County Regional Airport.

Late nite

Don't pay a lot of attention to the rankings at this point of the season---Every CCIW team plays their more than their share of cupcakes in the pre-season---The conference season will be more definitive when each team is pounding on each other every Wed and Sat---If the rankings continue at that point, they will be earned

If all the CCIW teams "pound on each other" all season long, theoretically, everyone will have near a .500 conference record. In such case, the only thing the rankings of most if not all of the conference teams will do is plummet.

Speaking of pounding on each other--------

I'm starting to get the distinct feeling that this year's CCIW regular season champ could very well finish 9-5 in the conference, or possibly 10-4 at best.

We have many many people who post on this board who have a wealth of knowledge about D3 college basketball in general and about the CCIW in particular.

Ladies/Gentlemen-----What are your thoughts on this possibliity?

I am not a big "observer" of rankings and don't pay much attention to them, however I have been looking at the rankings and have a quick question.

Elmhurst is 7-1 with quality wins against UW Whitewater, and UW Oshkosh who was ranked #14 at the time.

NC is ranked #24 and only 5-1 I believe?

Can somebody explain why Elmhurst with a better record and quality wins is not in the top 25 and/or where NC currently is?

The other rankings I would agree with, just this one kind of makes me ponder?

#9 Lawrence (4-2 for purposes of week 4's poll) loses at home to #25 Carthage (6-1), who has previous wins over #10 Calvin and #5 Hope in Kenosha, but Carthage is still ranked lower than Lawrence?  That's certainly something the red and black fans don't understand (or at least this red and black fan anyway).

According to the Lake Forest website, North Park beat Lake Forest 57-56.

Well, when the next poll comes out and the Carthage/Lawrence game is actually considered, you might see that change.

Carthage beat No. 22 Hope and unranked Calvin. That's what the pollsters are looking at. It doesn't matter a whole heckuva lot what Hope and Calvin were ranked through two games and four games respectively now that we have data through six and eight.
