Well, Augie will have a little "mo" on their side coming into Elmhurst on Saturday, after their win yesterday.  I think one of the Bluejays' keys is to contain D. Swetalla, but more importantly clean up their defense which was porous at times vs. Beloit.
For Augie, I think one of their keys is to control Nick Michael's play inside.  Also, I look for Elmhurst's Bench  (P. Bacon) to come up big.  I am looking forward to Saturday's game.

I just have a sense that Augie may have more of a problem with Ruch than with Michael. Ruch has 81 boards in 237 minutes compared with 75 for Michael in 310 minutes. If Augie leans on Michael and plays physical on him, I think he will back down a bit under the pressure. On the other hand, Ruch will dish out as much as he takes.

I was thinking the same thing, AO.

Will I get an e-scolding if I say that I was thinking that three days ago........?

nope....stats are stats  & we'll see  :)  AO - thanks!

First of all, let me reiterate to everyone that it doesn't matter to me if you perceive yourselves to be old, lame, or crazy of you are not stalking me. :P

Augie 2000 wondered how a team could lose to the #1 team by 3 points and drop in the rankings. I still think if Augie would have been ranked lower---where they should have been----in the previous poll they would not have dropped as much as they did.
I honestly think the pollsters took into consideration that Augie probably should have been ranked about where they are now in the previous poll. If that had been the case, their current # 12 ranking would not have been much of a drop, if any drop at all.

Additionally, what was the point of your comment about the fact you had similiar conversations with Pat and others a few days before I made my post? If you had such feelings at the time, you could have always made your feelings known on the board.  :)
I really don't think that's what he said, but I don't care enough to press. I do think #12 is a little low for a team who's only d3 loss is to the #1 team by three points. Heck, it's barely any higher than us, and we have two losses... and one of the teams we lost to also lost to Coe! But Hope is ranked higher than both of the teams they lost to, and blah blah... polls never make perfect sense, but then again, neither does life. :D

For those that don't know this, I might as well just let it be publicly known that I have had repeated problems on the Posting boards including, but not limited to, men AND women (!!! :o) stalking me... really terrible stuff.  I honestly don't know why I'm posting now (cough, addiction...) but I DID definitely have a good reason for not posting my comment. I just hope that eventually that this overwhelming sick nervous feeling I currently get every single time I post goes away eventually.........

I watched Toliver play more than a few times and my assessment - REAL BAD! I thought he was total garbage and wherever he ends up, he will NOT help the program but just create team headaches with his bad attitude. He is not only slow but has no court awareness, no hustle, no desire. Toliver would be better off in an intramural program playing ball with his dorm mates.

Good luck to him but again, total garbage!

Our----

"Total Garbage" ?  ???

As one who has gotten a tongue lashing for merely referring to a player as "soft," I
think you may have been better off stopping with "REAL BAD" rather than continuing with your more descriptive "total garbage."
Just a suggestion for future reference.

Additionally, maybe his skills weren't suited for the new Wesleyan coach Rose's system, perhaps there was a personality clash. or any number of personal problems/issues could have influenced his poor play. After all, Wesleyan's previous coach Trost, who did have some success, recruited him. Trost, as well as all the other coaches who were recruiting him prior to last season, must have seen some level of skill associated with his play.

Ok then, And...."REAL BAD"! I don't think it was personal or other issues influenced play - remember, his HS days where served in a conference that parity was not real strong so....maybe he looked ok in HS but when he stepped on the court to try competing with these D3 athletes, it was probably a shock to him that he was and is no good or "REAL BAD"!

diehardfan,

The church I go to just started a ministry sending cookies to college students from the church.  If you have any recipes worth sharing send me an e-mail or a PM.  Thanks.   And now, back to basketball.

diehardfan

If I have any>:( ??? :D

My recipes are a secret. :P Seriously though, a lot of cooking has a lot more to do with how you cook and how you improvise than the actual ingredients.

Though it should be said that anyone who uses margarine or, god forbid, crisco definitely deserves to be shot. (I had a roommate in college who swore by this... butter flavored vegetable lard... talk about a gross aftertaste!) If a recipe says butter or margarine, they are not giving you options. It's a test. If you're going to take a couple hours to make cookies, go ahead and splurge that extra two dollars for the natural product.

cough... uh... anyhow... I'll send you a PM.

I'm lovin' the lovin' in this room ever since April re-emerged.  Does that make me old, lame, or anything else?
:-*

And no, you have a long ways to go. You won't be old until after your son (kids?) graduate from college.... oh hrmm... wait... make that poor, not old.  :D

Thanks for identifying me as old, April, since my older daughter graduated 5 years ago and my younger daughter will graduate this spring!

Greg will remember Samantha (the older one) playing triangle with the NP Jazz Band at home games.  Still the best pep band I have ever heard.

Box Score from the Carthage - Northland game:

http://www2.carthage.edu/athletics/mens/basketball/nc.htm

Final score doesn't look impressive (84-74) but Carthage was up by 26 with little over 4 minutes left in the game.  Lack of concentration and just some sloppy passing led to some easy baskets for Northland down the stretch.

Offensively they looked fine with some nice balanced scoring but need to tighten up the defense as they should never have given up this many points to Northland.

Mr. Ypsi

joe,

You didn't note her correction at the end - you're not (necessarily) old, just poor!

(He says bravely as his first-born enters the second semester of his freshman year!) :D

Thanks to tuition remission, I'm not as poor as I could be, so I must go to the old category.

I'm still chuckling over your "April in January" quip.

Out here in south central Pennsylvania, "April in January" is no joke. It's truly April in January. We may hit 70 degrees today. Geese are flying back north, and buds may bloom before the day's over. Next we'll have the snow birds driving their RVs back from Florida ....

quick tidbits for the EC game.
Aloisio missed the Beloit game following a minor neck injury.  Ryder has been battling foot/ankle trouble throughout the season and has been "resting" for CCIW play.
Strzemp dressed against Beloit, and is cleared to play, but it sounds like the team will take its time with him.  By take its time, I mean he may play briefly to provide an inspiration boost against Augie, but playing extended minutes will probably not happen for a few weeks.

Let the madness begin.

Concerning the Wheaton--North Central game tonight-----

Wondering how many minutes, if any, Raymond of Wheaton and NCC's Simmons will play and, if they do, to what degree their effectiveness will be limited by their recent injuries.

Anyone have any updated info?
