I've deleted all of my posts depreciating my HOF status on all boards, and any posts containing my argument with Greg, and any points where other people quoted me on that subject in their posts. I don't know if I have the prerogative to do that or not, but I don't really care. I didn't take any of their own words off the board, they can decide what to do with their words, I decided what to do with mine. And if Pat removes the HOF status because of my actions, I will, in some sense, actually win.

Incidentally, bear with me guys, but I really need to publicly apologize to markerickson. While my angst took a very different form, mostly self depreciation, when I found out that my cousin's deployment was going to be extended, and that he very likely will miss my sister's wedding... I was completely not in control of my emotions or the things I said. Probably to a much greater degree than mark. Regardless of whether or not what you said was helpful to the situation, shame on me for being so insensitive to your honest reaction to the pain you were so rightfully feeling...  I hope you can forgive me.

While it still personally appears to me that Greg overreacted to what should have just been a healthy debate as if I was somehow attacking him personally, the karma hits I've taken in the last day or two are indication that at least several people agree with him.

As my last comments on this board for a really REALLY long time, because people on this board tend to take every thing a little to darn seriously, to the detriment of this board IMHO, and I just can't deal with something like this which is supposed to be lighthearted and fun and a source of stress relief weighing me down....

What happened to the dozens upon dozens of posters on this board? This board used to have 5 pages of posts every day, and scroll off on game nights... The way that new people are treated on this board sometimes is ridiculous. What are we, a clique? How many Titans aren't posting on this board because they are fair weather fans (probably not a lot) and how many are not posting because they're not huge fans of the way that their opinion is treated because there are so many of them? I don't know. I do know that it is sad to see this board languishing, whatever the reasons are.  :-\

And with that, I will leave you all to your own devices.  :P I think I'll be better off sticking to boards where ribbing is the norm, rather than some form of personal attack...

And for whatever it's worth, Go Wheaton!

Let's all take a deep breath on the count of three, and exhale nice and slow.  It'll help.

I have never posted on here, and until now, have had no real desire to.  This chat has always been a great barometer for what happens in the CCIW, and since I no longer play in the CCIW and cannot find as much time as I would like to attend the games, this chat is the best way to keep track of how everyone is playing.

I have followed this site religiously since the end of last season, and much to the chagrin of CCIW coaches, I can tell you that a lot of players check this chat occasionally to see what outsiders think.  I have come to value some of the opinions on this board, as they have proven that they are very intelligible resources to the D3 basketabll, and more specifically, the CCIW fans.  But to be honest, I think the debate going on right now is rather childish.  It doesn't really matter if someone is biased for their team, I think that makes this chat more spirited, and enjoyable to read.  April, you should not stop posting because of this, and if you don't agree that your presence on the board is not only welcome, but desired, then just look at the reactions that the posters had when you returned from your last hiatus.  And Sager, no one here is saying that you don't know what you are talking about, and obviously there aren't as many people as lucid about D3 basketball as you are, so there is no need to come to such a strong defense.  April was not intentionally calling you out, or admonishing your opinion, she was merely coming to the defense of her team.

I think everyone will be happier if we all held hands and sang cumbaya.

By the way,

Titans make the conference tourney, and win it to give the CCIW an extra team in the NCAAs.

I don't even care if I am biased.

In other news, Zach Freeman plans to run for President in the next election, and defeat Barack Obama.

April:

I'm with you babe.

The HoF goon squad came after me big time when I truthfully labeled one of their own a "pollyanna".

I've stopped going to North Park / Wheaton games (which I loved, going back to the first one I saw in Jan. 1968 when North Park stopped Wheaton's 62-game CCIW winning streak in Crusaderland), because I'm tired of see and then reading about how North Park doesn't play like a team and Wheaton does.  I talked with several people from my church who did attend the game last Saturday and once again they were embarrassed at North Park's lack of team play.

As much as I think that Bill Harris is somewhat of a pompous ass, I still admire the great job he does year after year in coaching Wheaton.  And last year might have been his best year as a coach ever.

The fact that North Park 'craps down its leg' almost every time it plays Wheaton in recent years leaves a real bitter taste.

I've seen both Wheaton and North Park play this year - and the bottom line is Wheaton is a better team because they have better players, who have been taught how to play better as a team and that the whole can be better than the sum of its individual parts.

North Park may have more athletically gifted athletes, with more quickness and jumping ability, but that does NOT make them better basketball players in my humble opinion.  It's not the dunk line - or the ooh-ahh factor that matters - its who wins the game, that's why they keep score.

April - I leave you with the parting words of Gen Stillwell - illegitami non-carborundum.

Diehardfan, I hope you don't let what someone else thinks of your opinions stop you from posting on this board.  You are a respected CCIW poster and have been for a long time.  So what if your Karma takes a hit.  You have 213 karma applauds anyway.  Take one good look at my karma.  I'm at neg 55 in only 264 posts.  By those numbers, damn near 25% of what i've had to say on d3hoops has taken a hit and I'm sure it'll get worse before it gets better.  But, just ask me if I care! 8) 8) 8) We all are idiots to a certain degree when it comes to sports just take a look at our records on the pick em pages. ;D ;D ;D  So please don't let the idiots in the CCIW chat rooms run you off of this board not even for a second! :) :) :)  If you disagree with someone just move on to the next topic you can disagree on.   :D :D :D   Just my opinion for what it's worth.

Whatever their reasons, it's still kind of sad to see two HoF-ers going at each other on such a relatively unimportant matter.

Could this "karma" thing be way out of control? Perhaps it ought be eliminated ....

79jaybird

Of the games today, I think there are 2 games that are really catching my eye.  Augie @ Millikin and EC @NPU.  I think both Augie and Elmhurst will win these games, but I have this "feeling" that arises when you know there is a good chance something "else" could happen.  Millikin plays well at home and North Park has me feeling this way because of what happened in Naperville.    I know Greg would say, "Mark, that game was not surprising to me at all.  ;)"  IMO, there would no greater essence than to have the #9 team and #15 team enter YOUR building and then rip them up to shreds, sending them home dismayed.  Happens everyday at every level.  Hopefully (for the #9 and #15 teams) they don't have this happen tonight.
As far as Karma,  I still say people should be more concerned with what is written.
CardinalPride-- Forgive me but I have to ask,  what is and/or what is the point of N..cee..cee.  you know?   Maybe it's me, but I just don't get it. Can you explain? ::)

Guys and Gals, I think the bickering is one reason why many potential posters refrain from posting on the board.  I think the basketball board would have many more posters if people were not afraid of getting "chewed out" ruthlessly.
It is pretty easy to tell from a message if it is contributing/not contributing and if that message has any relevance.

I thought the dodo bird was extinct, but your post is proof positive that you are alive and well.  ::)

Wesleyan has a long and proud tradition, but this year they'll finish closer to the bottom than to the top of the conference standings.

And, oh yes, about the election----- Zach's Vice-President will be (showing my age here) Ziggy Stardust and the Cabinet will consist of the Spidermen from Mars!

Jaybird, the "N...Cee...Ceeee! Youuu knowww!" chant stems from NCC's 1998 Track & Field National Championship team!  The theme slogan that year was "Get Big" and the various athletes during the course of the season would say to one another, "We are NCC and you know it's time to Get Big".   So, starting at the CCIW championship meet and during the National championship meet, someone would yell "NCC and the rest of the team would yell YOU KNOW!"  During the post meet celebration, that chant was heard over and over again and I still love it today.

That Freeman dunk made the score 65-40 with 14:58 to play in a meaningless non-conference game.  How excited were people supposed to look

God, I knew IWU had the generic, older crowd, but I never would imagine they could not stand until it was time to leave!!  How bad has it become down south?

Hope to see you Sat. Q
