A slightly different subject, I am getting pretty sick of some of the big men in this conference acting like they are "too cool for school" during warmups. I don't remember Kasten, Moo, Wiertel, or heck, even me, behaving that way. The attitude on some of these guys in shocking. Loaf around during warm ups, jack up 3's from 5 feet behind the line with that slow, "I'm never going to shoot like this in the real game but everyone wants to know how much of a stud I am so I'll do it while I have a captive audience" motion, go over to the webcast table and check out stats, clown around in the layup line, try to block other players layups and then have a big laugh about it,  and it's always the big men. What's the deal there?

Have anyone specific in mind?

Some quotes from Bosko in the Newspaper today:
"This league is so good from top to bottom it is absolutely a war every night."
"North Park has become a quality team. You're in a situation where there are no easy games and this one, for heavens sake, certainly wasn't that."
"Momentum is only good until Saturday night's game starts against Wesleyan."

Another side note, I know after the Millikin game I remember Bosko saying in the paper that the league is brutal, and is the best conference in the country.

AndOne,

Ruch for certain, and Schlemm, and his body double from Carthage.

Thanks tj---

To be sure, I don't pay to much attention during warm ups. Maybe I should. I'm sure there are others around the league who do the same thing.

robberki

exactly right TJ, seems like there's a direct relationship between how good a player is perceived to be and how much he likes to prance around during warm ups.

Todd Raridon's meltdown tonight displayed a significant lack of class and character.  It is apparent that the road atmosphere of the CCIW is something he is going to have to adjust to over time.  North Central didn't lose tonight because of the officiating, they lost because their defense was poor.  I hope the Cardinals filmed the game so Raridon can see the example he set before several key high school coaches and possible senior recruits that attended the game.

Coebball------

Do you have the whole story?

Maybe the coach was justified in his action.

Several of the officials think their first name is God rather than their given name of Idiot.

Lastly, ever consider that Raridon's actions could be viewed by coaches and recruits as those of a guy who will stand up for hiself and his team?

I rest my case.

I think the officiating has been pretty abysmal in the CCIW this season. It really seems bad, not sure what isi going on...

I agree that for some unknown reason the CCIW officials seem to have the "need" to be a Major part of the game.  This is wrong.  Officials are there to control the game in terms of fair play, but you must let the players decide the outcome of the game.  For example, in Wheaton Saturday the officials were so whistle happy there was no flow to the game.  The players for both sides couldn't get into a rhythm.
Last night, the officials were inconsistent again.  One moment they would let the players play, scrambling around for loose balls... then the next moment they would call (a very poor) touchy foul on Simmons.  Either call it all, or don't call it at all.
The EC big guys are great at rebounding and provide a great presence, however the one "ticky tack" about them, is that they are a little inconsistent.  Their "hibernation" in the first half at Wheaton, put them down early.  They weren't hibernating last night, but didn't really turn it "on" until the second half.

Saturday's matchup is a doozy!  I think EC can neutralize Dain inside, it's Wessels and Delp that I think EC has to be concerned with.  These two were the main reasons why Augie came back strong at Elmhurst.  I think the first 10 minutes is really going to be important.  EC has been known to come out of the gates rather quietly,  and I don't think they can afford to do this in R.I.
I know this is still pretty early,  but what do you all think of the CCIW getting 3 teams into the big dance again?  I think Elmhurst, Augie, and (perhaps 1 more) would do very well in the NCAA Tourney.

With regards to Coach Raridon,  I respect his willingness to "go to bat" for his players.  However,  NC was still a few buckets from catching Elmhurst. Then the foul on Simmons and the ensuing double T and ejection, really made it difficult for NC to fight after that.  I don't think it was the right "time or moment" for Raridon to voice his disagreement.    I think he should have either called a timeout and ask to speak to the officials in a calm matter,  or wait until after the game to discuss his concerns.  Getting double T'd and tossed I think had a harmful effect on the players who were battling to get back into the game.

no point until waiting till after the game, it's over then and the officials run off the court, they typically won't have a discussion with a coach.

I must remind you that at the time of the double T, EC was alreading leading by 10 and there were only 8 seconds left in the game. The game was already gone.

A competent official would have turned his back and walked away. However, Jerry Scherzinger brought Raridon's tirade upon himself by baiting the coach and basically daring him to stick up for himself and his team.
