Armywife,

A karma point for wearing a Bears sweatshirt in Germany.  If your presence there makes the Bears repeat from 21 years ago, it will be worth the time there.  Well, for me if not for you. :)

Looking forward to watching the Jays in action tomorrow night at IWU!  Should be a good game and I think it's a pretty important game for Elmhurst (aren't they all).  Traditionally, Elmhurst has struggled at Shirk.  Q: Have the Jays ever won AT the Shirk?  But doesn't sound like this years Titan team has the ammo to compete with Elmhurst.  If Elmhurst just comes to play, should be a 'W'.
Results of the game aside, what we all really need is for Coach Rose to have developed a super secret master plan to contain your #2 Fantasy Pick, Mr. Brent Ruch, and likewise, for Coach Scherer to have randomly decided that the most important person on the IWU team to contain is actually your #4 pick Daruis Gant, and not Zach Freeman. No offense of course. :P :D ;) :) :) :)

Amen to that! :D

Ryan, you MUST pass on to Coach Scherer that the KEY to beating the Titans is to let Zach get 50+ points and 30+ rebounds and concentrate on the other guys!

(The rumor that Zach Freeman is on my fantasy team is a canard perpetrated by all the fantasy players who are rapidly passing me. :()

No, it's definitely to make Brian Lee the #1 guy and have him shoot it on every single possession.  :P

I can go for that (as long as he misses about 80% of them)! ;D

Deal. If Brian singlehandedly shoots the team average, he's still going to score around 24 points. And yes, I really did take the 30 seconds to check the stats and calculate that. :P

Arrange that and you deserve at least free cookies if not some serious inquiry into what your mob connections are. :D

Well, between Burks and Ruch, it sounds like there might be a bigger crowd there for Elmhurst than IWU!! LOL   I only live 16 miles from Bloomington and all of the family and friends of Ruch's are all within probably 30 miles of there.  It'll feel like a home game for Brent for sure.  I'm not sure the last time he saw at least some of the guys that'll be there, but he's got a good one on his side that's not going to be there, but was there last year and I feel good about Elmhurst going to the Shirk and getting a WIN!

Titan, do they archive those games because I was looking for the one where the champs were honored at halftime and never found it.

wjbc.com will also be airing the audio for the game as well as wrse so this game will be all over the web.

The Titan travelers have been known to turn other gyms into a 'home court'; if Elmhurst can turn the Shirk into a home court, that would be a first! ;)

Um, if Brian Lee shoots on EVERY possession, and only scores 24, I think the Titans may score one of the greatest blow-outs in CCIW history! ;D

I'll accept the cookies, but don't think I even need to employ my mob connections for that one!

Please don't mistake me for someone with the tiniest amount of interest in this or any Super Bowl...

...but Armywife's mention that the Bears were in the Super Bowl in 1985 made me wonder if Prince and Billy Joel were as passe then as they are now.  Maybe next year they can get Up With People and the Ink Spots for the halftime show.  ::)

I just hope Billy doesn't accidentally dislodge any of Prince's clothing... :P

I do remember last year when Augie came down to the shirk there were quite a few current students and alumni, along with players parents and friends that made the trip down to Bloomington, and we by no means were able to out number the Green nation....That would be quite a feat!

David, I know its not opera and all, but I suggest not dissing Billy Joel on D3hoops.com... just trust me on this one. :)

Cabs, I do realize that. But at least my fantasy team would have a good night. :P On a serious note, I can't take sides on this one. If Elmhurst loses and we win, we're in sole possession of second place. If the win it saves me from looking like a dummy for continuously talking about how good they are. But I can unabashedly want Lee to score a million points! :D

With North Park's win at the Shirk Center this year, Elmhurst is the only CCIW team without a win in the building.

1995: IWU 105 EC 75
1996: IWU 84 EC 47
1997: IWU 82 EC 60
1998: IWU 73 EC 58
1999: IWU 75 EC 66
2000: IWU 72 EC 59
2001: IWU 71 EC 63
2002: IWU 80 EC 70
2003: IWU 73 EC 65
2004: IWU 84 EC 74
2005: IWU 84 EC 62
2006: IWU 88 EC 87 (OT)

By the way, during this stretch, IWU is only 6-6 at Elmhurst (6-7 through this year) -- a 12-year period in which IWU is 130-38 (.774) in CCIW play, with 6 CCIW titles, and 4 Final Four appearances.  The 1996 Titan Final Four team - considered by many to be the best IWU Division III team - that won by 37 at the Shirk Center, lost by 14 at Elmhurst.  Says a lot about the difficulty of winning on the road in the CCIW.

IWU won the last 5 meetings with Elmhurst at Fred Young Fieldhouse, so the Titans streak over Elmhurst in Bloomington is 17 years.  The last Bluejay win at IWU was 1989.  I assume this is the longest current home streak in the CCIW?

I'm with you on Billy Joel and Prince,  David. Was everyone else in the entertainment industry busy that weekend?

Joe, I'm glad I can do my part. Now, if they can just have a similar outcome to the 1985 superbowl, I don't think that they are going to beat the Colts 46-10 though. Peyton Manning is no Tony Eason. It's going to be a really good game no matter what the final score is.
