I wouldn't be surprised if UW-Beertown has been all-but-forgotten as a league member by those in charge of the WIAC webpage.

Very true.  I just realized how moot my point is, though...  listing the WIAC in the NCAA tournament would be for current WIAC members, not previous members of the now defunct WSUC.  As Milwaukee isn't and has never been a WIAC member, they wouldn't be listed.

A CCIW question... are the individual schools doing their normal radio for tomorrow's games, or is there a station that is broadcasting both?  And does Augie have live stats available online?

No station is broadcasting them both, and Augustana is not hosting live stats for the tournament, nor is CCIW.org from what I can tell.

WETN is doing Wheaton's broadcast for sure: www.wetn.org. The men are on the listen live links, and the women are on the watch live links.

Elmhurst has live stats on their page, but I think it's just for home games: http://elmhurst.edu/~athletic/Home/M-Basket/stats/live/xlive.htm

Augustana may or may not do the game. I assume our friend from WONC will be out there for NCC though. www.wonc.org.

Yes, but the league maintains historical continuity with both the WSUC and the WWIAC. All of the various historical pages -- records, year-by-year standings, champions list, All-Americans list, etc. -- on the WIAC men's basketball site include the WSUC years as well.

I still think that they left off UW-Milwaukee's 1982 tourney appearance as a mere oversight.

Well, today's the day: CCIW Semifinal Friday. No offense to you Augie types, but I'm rooting for any one of the other three teams to win the league's tourney this weekend. I want to see two CCIW teams go dancing, not just one!

So can tickets for tomorrow be bought at the door?  Or are they needed in advance?  Planning on attending my first ever CCIW conference tournament so should be exciting.  Anyone else from CCIW Chat going?

rknuppel:

Not sure how tickets are being done this year. Last year I picked them up at Elmhurst in RAF.  This year I plan on just hoping tickets will be sold at the door. If anyone else has anymore information regarding tickets please share.

Mr. Point and Mr. Sager

Out of curiousity:  when some of the current WIAC teams had dual membership in the NAIA and the NCAA D 3, I assume they were not giving scholarships????? (or they could not have been in D3) If they had a good year, how would they decide which post-season tourney to participate in?

Did they generally play NAIA D1 or D2?

Since UWM was once a member, I wonder why Green Bay or Parkside never were?  or were they once?

Thanks

I found our answer directly on the Augie website.

Ticket prices for the tournament will be $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and senior citizens. No team or season passes will be allowed during the post-season. There will be no pre-sales but the doors will open on Friday night at 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m.

Looking forward to tonight.  I think both games are unbelievable matchups!  Let's go Jays!
Go Elmhurst!

The day is finally here!  Who else is heading out to Rock Island this afternoon?

[But doughnut teams don't go far in this league -- and right now Carthage looks like a doughnut team in 2007-08, unless Bosko can rope in some big men in the off-season.

I agree with your assessment and I think it goes a long way to looking at things for next year across the league.  Carthage, IWU, North Central, and to some degree North Park all look to be in that category.  The problem if you are a fan of one of those teams is that even if you get the size you are looking for, it is truly rare to find someone as a freshman who can be an "impact" type of post player.

With Zack Freeman, Brian Schlemm, Daniel Walton, and Anthony Simmons leaving the league, I think it leaves Dain Swetalla and Brent Ruch as the only legitimate dominant big men.

2007-8 might be the year you can be competive as a "doughnut" team, just because there are going to be so many teams in the same situation.

On the first day Westminster (Pa.) was given new life with the extra Pool B slot, it lost ... at home ... by 19. Regardless, the Titans should still get in at 18-8.

Can someone explain this quote to me from the front page?  Does this mean still get in with a Pool B slot?  It sure doesn't seem like they would be a Pool C team.

Yes, that is what it means.

Wow.  Over four hours of daytime silence.  I love the calm before the storm.

I've been thinking about this "doughnut team" concept all day.  I guess you could say I've been thinking a lot about/with nothing in the middle.  While I agree it's nice to have an "aircraft carrier" you can make it happen without one.
Think back to, I believe, Wooden's first two championships at UCLA.  No dominant post player...but guys like Keith Erickson and Gail Goodrich running and pressing like crazy.  Now, I'm really dating myself.  Here's my picks:
Wheaton and North Central tonight....North Central tomorrow.

Good point...the question is would any of the current coaches be willing to shift to that style of play to match their team makeup?  Adapting styles of play to your talent isn't something I have seen much of, but I don't have nearly the history of watching the CCIW as many of the key posters here.

Can anyone think of examples where a coach radically changed styles from year to year because of the skills/size of that year's squad?

Good luck to all four teams tonight...whichever team can play two good games in a row should represent the CCIW well in the tourney and hopefully things work out for 2 teams to move on.
