Augustana
UWSP (although I think the Pointers will draw a first-round bye and play a West Coast team)
Wash U
Aurora
DePauw

If Elmhurst wins in Rock Island this evening, I don't think the 'jays will be seeded high enough to draw the SLIAC rep, since the SLIAC rep will undoubtedly be the lowest seed in the section. Ditto for Loras, the second WIAC team (if there is one), the HCAC rep, the MWC rep, etc.

The first record listed is the overall record, followed by record in regional games, through Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007. These are the last rankings we'll see before they select teams. Teams in BOLD are Pool A candidates, unless already noted.

There may be some mistakes, due to updated games and my inability to remember every Pool B team in contention! lol

Feel free to "quote" and update it.

Weather in rock island right now is just awful. I am staying at a hotel that is just 3 miles away from Carver Arena and it is almost looking impossible to get there. I have never seen so much ice in my life, so if you don't have to travel I would suggest listening to the game on Elmhurst College radio, unfortunately I am the chauffer to the arena for the two broadcasters of EC radio so I don't have a choice.

Late nite

Hope the officials are somewhat  local or have left early

There are 18 Pool C berths. I'm counting twelve that are already spoken for:

Messiah
Brandeis
Chicago
Keene State
Catholic/Hood loser
St. John's/St. Thomas loser
Trinity CT
Mary Hardin-Baylor
Virginia Wesleyan
Brockport State
Rochester
Husson

Stevens Tech, UW-LaCrosse, NYU, and Guilford have better numbers than does Elmhurst, as does UW-Oshkosh -- although Elmhurst's win over UWO could negate the Titans' advantage. Loras and McMurry should grade out ahead of the 'jays as well, although Elmhurst's common-opponent advantage over Loras (NPU) could come into play if a Loras loss to Buena Vista in the IIAC final drops the Duhawks significantly. And there's a whole slew of teams that will finish ahead of Elmhurst in the Pool C sweepstakes if they lose this evening or tomorrow afternoon: WPI, Wooster, Mississippi College, John Carroll, Hope, Centre, the Whitworth/L&C loser, UWSP, Amherst, and Manhattanville.

That bubble on which the 'jays sit is pretty close to bursting. They'd better win tonight and make it all academic.

Mr. Ypsi

In terms of teams ahead of Elmhurst who would beat them out if they lost, don't overlook Amherst (who will host Williams rather than the expected Trinity for the title).  While it is hard to imagine Williams pulling the upset, this is the sort of rivalry game (not quite Hope/Calvin or Wabash/DePauw, but pretty close) where strange things can happen.

I am interested in this debate on Raymond and the many notions of him getting calls, etc. And since he is around a couple more years we better all get used to it. So I looked quickly at the stats and it shows that Raymond and Zach Freeman have similar stats relative to shots taken and trips to the line. It also shows, surprisingly that while Zach and Kent played the most minutes this season of anyone neither of them took the most shots. Dan Walton did. Now I may be missing something because Raymond took the most 3pt shots and if you count FGA and 3pt Att he definately took the most shots comined (are these added or do they represent a subset of the other in the boxscore??). I suppose an arguement could be made that Zach and Raymond carried similar loads as their teams go to guy this season. Also that Raymond took so many foul shots shouldn't be surprising since he went to the basket so much. but I wonder what percentage of foul calls on Raymond were "phantom"? did the refs miss 50% of the time? 20%? More? Less? I have no clue. I think its inevitable that a player of Raymond's talent that drives to the hoop so much is going to get his share of calls as well as his share that are missed. Certainly vs elmhurst last saturday night he was thrown to the ground a couple times w no call.

In the end it seems his style of play is going to be conducive to lots of free throws and with that comes a percentage of missed and accurate calls. I think that's probably something we are all going to have to get used to for a couple more years.

I am interested in other's thoughts on this.

Trey attempts are considered field-goal attempts, Usee, and as such are a subset of the latter in the box score.
