Hmmmmmmm. Maybe the CCIW only got one team in for a reason.

One and done for the CCIW. Pretty disappointing. there will be plenty of speculation about the cciw being overrated

The Roop

No, the CCIW wasn't overrated. Carroll simply presented a match up problem so they won. The selection criteria isn't fair and it never will be. Pool C criteria for everybody I say. 32 teams and no automatic bids.

Carroll 73, Augustana 69

How well does Augustana usually draw?  The boxscore says just over 750.  FOR A PLAYOFF GAME???  Was the weather bad down there?

Drury with 32.

Wow, Carroll outrebounded by 10, but Augie coughs the ball over 19 times!

What happened to Augie's inside game?  Carroll really doesn't have a post presence?  Wow, I say again!

Does anyone know if Augie's school or local station will be carrying the game on the web tonight?

OS...did you play at point ???

This may have been directed towards me... I'm still not Old School, I'm Point Special, and yes, I did play for Point.  I played between 01/02-04/05.

Why does it always have to be about you? When someone addresses you, I don't come on and say, "I'm not Point Special, I'm Old School!" lol  :D ;) ;D :o :P ::)

Well, you hadn't posted in a page and a half, and I had said:

757 attendence are u kidding me! Hello Auggie students.  Carroll College was nervous last year playin the Titans in the first round.  Now they are a team peaking at the right time.

Augie students aren't there right now.  They're on spring break.  Lay off.

David Collinge

Yeah, well, there goes my entire bracket.   :P  Congratulations to Carroll.

Augie is on spring break, so none of the students are allowed to stay on campus.  In addition to that, about an hour before game time the snow storm hit town that had closed I-80 from Nebraska to Des Moines and I-380 between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.  The entire pro-Augie crowd came from the local population and it certainly was an older one that what you would have encountered during any of the regular season games.  That being said I thought that there was a large number of people there from what I was expecting.  Especially since parts of the Quad Cities still don't have power after last Saturday's ice storm.

As for the game, guard play and turnovers.  Carroll's guards were quicker and didn't miss a shot.  In the first half Augie had 13 turnovers and Carroll had 1.  Carroll led by 4 at the half and at the end of the game.  I think that those four points could have easily been made up somewhere in the differential between the 12 t/o's.  Augie played well as a team for about 4-5 minutes in the second half and that is when they went up by 8, but soon after that they were down by 8.  Congrats to Carroll who obviously came to play and congrats to Coach G and the entire Viking team on a strong season.

Augustana students are on Spring Break so they werent there. The weather prevented 2 of my buddies and I from making the drive from Monmouth. Wind blowing 40mph and forecasted for about an inch of snow.

How Swetella only has 13 points was beyond me. Carroll must have done a great job diving down when he got the ball in the post and keeping him uneasy. He had a few early travel calls against him and seemed to never be able to establish a rhythm.

What a game for MWC POY Nathan Drury. Listening to the game from my dorm room, it seemed like his name was called on every possession in the 2nd half. He just put the team on his back and carried them to St. Thomas.

Never thought that after the first night the season would be over for the CCIW.

I think Carroll started the game 0 for 5 and their guards were taking those shots. Hatch another theory.

How about whenever Augie would pull close to get within reach, they (particularly Drury -- 32 points, several from behind the arc) didn't miss.

Yup, only two years ago. Benji Taylor, NCC's former head coach, is African-American. :)
