Don't you go to that church? That's why I'm not there....just kidding, you'll probably see me there more often in the future. I've been a few times, but I grew up presbyterian, and as you know, there's a pres church almost across the street from NWCC....
I might have to stop by that des plaines Y and bust some skulls...

I have been to services at the Northwest Covenant Church, although our church is St. Raymond's Catholic Church.
Yes, John Camardella has been teaching at Prospect for a few years now.  As the mascot of our 2001 Team, we are reminded of Cammy D's 3 pointers that painstakingly beat us at Chicago's gym in the Sweet 16 that year! Ugh!  He is a very good person and what a great talent at both basketball and volleyball.
Dennis-- We (family) have lived in Mt. Prospect for 28 years and I attended Lions Park, Lincoln Jr. High, Prospect, Elmhurst through the years.  Growing up I played MP little league at the various parks and was involved in numerous Community Projects.

Dennis...BTW, where is NWCC moving to?

it's the longest relocation in church history - i think they built Notre Dame in Paris in less time.

we bought land on Rand Road, n of Palatine road 13 years ago.  It took us 10 years to fully pay for it.  Three years to jump through all of Arlington Heights hoops and now we're entertaining offers on our Mount Prospect campus.  Anybody interested?  Asking price is $2.2 million.  For six building lots, the church and two homes.

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

$2.2 million... here I will write you a check tomorrow!  ;)
I am all too familiar with some of the politics and village ordinances/codes in Mt. Prospect/Arlington Hts.  Sometimes villages and "others" make life so difficult at times.

Nice to see Washington U. finally get a break thru win this evening at  U.W. S.P.!   It seems like yesterday when a special player hit a impossible off balance 3 pointer to stunn Washington U. in a playoff game in Elmhurst.  Posters name that player and year!

For us CCIW fans its the "synthetic elite 8" with Augie vs. Wheaton playing today for a chance at playing vicariously in Salem by virtue of their victories over Wash U and Hope respectively.  8) 8) 8)

The Roop

Interesting "synthetic bracket" there. I'm guessing you thought Wheaton should have gotten a bid over St. Johns. Not sure I can disagree with that.

I have no opinion on bids. i only know augie and wheaton beat those two teams. carthage beat hope (and carroll) also. just recognizing there is a thin line between the "have's" and the "have not's" at this point.  :-[ :) :'(

Keaton Frye Signs With Valpo

The Valparaiso University men's basketball team today announced they have signed Keaton Frye to a National Letter of Intent.

A 6'3" guard from North Scott High School in Eldridge, Iowa, Frye earned First Team All-Conference honors last season while playing in the post. He averaged 16.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, finishing second in the conference in scoring and first in rebounding. A three-year starter, Frye shot 77% from the free throw line and 48% from the floor as a junior. Frye played a guard position as a sophomore and will return to the backcourt in his senior season. His coach this year at North Scott is Dave Wessel.

"He's (Frye) not only a great player but a really great kid," Wessel said, "He's very well respected and a model for the younger players."

This looks to be a CCIW M.O.P. candidate.

CCIW Watcher, that would be a certain #4 named Ryan Knuppel and that particular 3 point shot to win the game, is one of my single-most memorable moments at Elmhurst.  I was the mascot (Victor E. Bluejay) that year, and as luck would have it, I was under the basket just as Knuppel let go the "shot heard around campus".  I literally saw that orange ball sail through the orange cylinder, and we all immediately started a "mosh pit" at the center court!  Great memories.
I too am glad to see Wash U. gaining success in the big dance.  If you haven't had a chance to see/tour Wash U. in St. Louis, I suggest doing it.  The Bears have a great campus, in a pleasant neighborhood, and their athletic teams are pretty shabby also!

The article about Frye states that a concussion ended his season early into the conference season, yet Frye hopes to earn a medical redshirt.  I say he's got less than 1% of a chance of being granted a medical redshirt.

A kid whose last name is Odzic attended Niles West HS, and he went to play ball for Tim Floyd at USC two years ago.  I saw Odzic's name in a box score or two during the season, but he didn't play at all in yesterday's blowout to the Ducks.

Are Division 1 basketball scholarships irrevocable for four years?

I don't know if Odzic got invited and walked-on at the University of Spoiled Children, but I do know that a Mercedes SUV sits in the household's driveway when I walk my dog.

Mark,

I believe Odzic either did, or plans to transfer from USC.  There's an incoming freshman named OJ Mayo who will be taking most of his playing time.  I believe he was ending up at Loyola Chicago or something like that.  Maybe someone else will know.
