Does NCC have a clue who will show up to represent World Harvest Bible?

This is from their current web page:

Are there any athletic opportunities at World Harvest Bible College?
Intramural sports are available at WHBC, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc., as well as open gym twice per week.

This is from their 2003-05 catalog Pg. 72-3:

Intercollegiate Athletics
The WHBC Athletic Department is continuing to develop its premier men's basketball program, which has in three years of competition been singled out for multiple honors, including the National Bible College Athletic Association (NBCAA) Division 1 Runner-up in 2000-2001 and the NBCAA Division 1 Champion in 2001-2002. The Warriors hold membership with the United States Collegiate Athletic Association as well and have earned 3rd place at the USCAA Division 1 tournament in 2002.

For further information, please contact the WHBC Athletic Department at 614-837-1990, ext 322.

IMO, If World Harvest Bible is a challenge for NCC the more it will help them in the long run.  Remember, win or lose, this game does not count in the eyes of the NCAA Committee.  Furthermore, I believe those basketball accolades would be more noteworthy if they were from 2006-07 and not 2001-02.  I say that because I get the impression that World Harvest Bible doesn't put a lot of effort in recruiting athletes year in and year out.

North Park played its second and final scrimmage this evening, hosting Benedictine in the crackerbox. The Vikings looked very impressive for the most part, easily beating the Eagles, 37-24 and 44-31. Nick Williams and Jay Alexander each scored 15, while Jason Gordon added 11, Ed Whitaker chipped in 9, an aggressive Joe Capalbo added 8, and Jorge "Gonzo" Gonzalez tallied 7. The Vikings did a great job of controlling the boards, garnering 34 rebounds by my unofficial count. Gonzalez led with 10 caroms, while Williams and Capalbo grabbed 5 apiece.

More fine-tuning remains to be done by NPU, as the guards were frequently caught too far upcourt and Benedictine thus had a lot of easy runout baskets. The Vikings also need to communicate a little better on switches and screens. But for the most part the defense was very solid in the halfcourt, and on offense they easily exposed a pretty green BU team that looks like it's headed for the middle of the pack in this season's NAthCon.

In terms of standouts, I thought that Jay Alexander and Jason Gordon had particularly good nights. Nick Williams, Mike Ventura, and Antonio Stevens gave the NPU coaches pretty much what they will expect from them every night, and Joe Capalbo looked much more energized than he did against Dominican. Jorge Gonzalez continues to improve as the team's inside "x factor" and energy guy. And it was good to see Dan Oziminski out on the floor again, as he gives the Vikings the luxury of an experienced point guard to go along with Bruce Durham and Chris Brown.

The JV half was more of the same, as NPU triumped, 48-38. The JV team did a very nice job of feeding the low post, as Phil Schniedermeier talled 13 points and Glenn Woodside added 11. Ali Tai canned three of four trey attempts to add 9 points to the cause.

North Park fans can look forward to an exciting season of basketball in 2007-08. Even a discriminating connoisseur like Rob Berki is giving this team the thumbs-up. This will be a Vikings squad that will definitely make a trip to the corner of Foster & Kedzie worthwhile.

Nice summary.  I'm still a little worried about the lack of a true 'big' but I'm excited to see how they handle that.  Mike has definitely gotten bigger so maybe there's an answer.  Othewise, Jason and Jay could probably do fine stepping in.

Overall, it seemed as though the Vikings played pretty cohesively and with tenacity.  And as we all know, if they just play harder and smarter than any other team, they should win them all.  ;)

To all Cardinal fans - SORRY!!!  Poorly written post.  I know that NCC was backed into a corner and did the best it could to fill out the tournament field.  I was just trying to relay some information I found about WHBC.

Sounds like the type of team that will give my Vikes fits---Very similar personnel to the teams that have eliminated Augie from the NCAA's the past two years

Martin----

I wish I got points for every poorly written entry I post. My stock would soar.
Thank you for your apology, and for your attempt to provide info. I think those two things are worthy of a +K.

As Mr Sager seconds above, the Cardinals put on a very good display of early season basketball this evening. They still have a lot to work on and improve on. However, given the facts 1) that they have only 1 returning player (Chris Drennan) who saw any significant time last year and only 3 others (Raridon, Barringer & Prince) who saw any measurable time, 2) they are working SEVERAL newcomers into the mix, 3) they are somewhat vertically challenged, and 4) they have already been hit by the injury bug, they certainly should be optimistic following tonight's performance.

Team chemistry, which can go a long way toward building a winning squad,  is without doubt better this year than last. If you choose to go to war with one of the Cards, you better be prepared to take on the whole bunch as they certainly do have each others backs. If the 07-08 Cardinals pay attention to and execute what the coaching staff teaches them, continue to bring 100% effort to each practice and game, continue to play as a team instead a bunch of "me first" individuals, and get their injured players back, they will most certainly surprise a lot of people this year and produce a record that they can be proud of and which will put them squarely in the hunt for a conference tourney spot.

I am posting this again as I hope the Cardinals read it and take heed of its message. This season's schedule features 2 games against the #5 ranked preseason team, 1 vs #13, 2 vs #18, 1 vs #25, 2 vs #31,& 2 vs #32. Thats 10 games against opponents currently ranked no lower than 32nd in the country.

I certainly don't have all the answers, but I believe 100% in what I said about team chemistry and giving 100%. When facing a schedule containing such a number of tough opponents, I think chemistry and effort will go a long way toward building a successful season. Anybody disagree?

I don't disagree that team chemistry is vitally important.  I do think, however, that a team can have all the chemistry in the world, but if it's out-manned night in and night out, it's probably not going to do very well over the course of the season.

I'd rather have Keelan Amelianovich or Rick Harrigan or Drew Carstens or Joel Kolmodin or Ryan Knuppel or Antoine McDaniel or Jason Wiertel or Korey Coon or Bryan Crabtree or Chris Simich or Matt Nadlehoffer or Kirk Anderson, etc. first, and then figure the chemistry thing out second.  We'll go bowling as a team...or maybe get together and watch Hoosiers.

We have film!!!

I believe this is an actual snippet of the Rev. Rod Parsley's boys in action.  The World Harvest Bible College Warriors had a Midnight Madness event against the faculty/staff of the school.

They also had an exhibition game last Friday against  Miami-Hamilton,  No score but it is on Miami-Hamilton's schedule.

No - I don't have way too much time on my hands.  Just feeling a little obsessive today.

Kinda goes without saying that its always best to have a superstar or two on the roster. As a corollary, its entirely likely that the more superstars you have, the less you need good chemistry to assure a winning team. However, in the absence of a superstar or two, good team chemistry can go a long way toward filling the void that exists due to lacking said superstar(s). Of course, the ultimate combination of superstar(s) plus great chemistry makes for an unbeatable combination.   ???    :D

Likely, never in the history of his venerable institution has its basketball team garnered such a degree of publicity.    :-X

I don't necessarily agree with Bridges---I recall a team just two years ago with 3 All-Americans that finished 3rd in the CCIW and couldn't win the inaugural conference tourney---They rallied late to play up to their potential in the NCAA, but the chemistry that season didn't match their superior talent

Wheaton will be hosting a scrimmage tomorrow night (Friday) at 7:00 against Manchester College in King Arena.

This is the second scrimmage for the Thunder, having scrimmaged against Lewis College last week.  Wheaton played very well from reports I have heard.  They won the second half, after keeping it close in the first.
