NP upsets Vikings, good game for them. Bed time for me.

I think that's a BIG win for North Park (as I stated right before the tip) for more than a few reasons.  I'm very interested to hear how Oziminski fared at the point, and how big Nick Williams played.

And I'm still REALLY pissed that I missed it.  Hope the North Park crowd was alive and kickin!  How was the student section?

Big win for NPU huge loss for Auggie;

Wheaton 70 over Carthage 64 - Wheaton down 16 went on 23-4 run; Painter had 28 points unofficially 15 in 1st half

IWU 68 NCC 59 Rosenkrantz had a very good 1st CCIW game

Elmhurst 98 - Millikin 78 Final

IWU/NCC box should be up soon...

http://www.iwu.edu/~iwunews/sports/mbb2008/TEAMSTAT.HTM

* Travis Rosenkranz: 14 pts, 8 assists/2 turnovers
* Brett Chamernik: 13 pts, 8 reb
* Darius Gant: 12 pts, 14 reb
* Jordan Morris: 11 pts

IWU led by 14 at the half and 46-26 with 14:00 to play, but the Cards went zone and the Titans just didn't knock down their open shots.  NCC climbed back in it - got within 7 - but Rosenkranz went 6-6 from the FT line down the stretch to secure the win.

NCC is really going to struggle without Drennan.

Nice win for North Park tonight.  They played a whole lot better than they had against Knox on Saturday afternoon.

Nick Williams lead the way with 22 points.  Augie had Swetalla guarding him late and Williams was able to hit some big threes.  Antonio Stevens had 12 points, with some big drives to the hoop late, and 11 boards.  Jay Alexander had 10 points and 8 boards off the bench.  Jason Gordon had 9, including a big three late and Dan Ozamanski had 5 points and only 1 turnover on the night.

Wessels lead Augie in scoring, but only shot around 5-15 on the game.  Collins got in some early foul trouble and his minutes were limited.

I believe Augie shot 21-59 on the night from the field (6-24 from the arc) and 10-15 from the line.  NP was 23-59 (5-13) and 16-20.

North Park really played well down the stretch.

Attended the Wheaton vs Carthage game this evening and couldn't believe my eyes.  Wheaton performs some magic and comes back to win after being down by 16 points in the second half.  And they did it with Raymond NOT SCORING in the second half!  Carthage played well but unfortunately they were 'out-coached' once again by Harris.  I think Wheaton has won something like 6 of the last 7 games against Carthage and in at least 3 of the games Carthage has had leads of 10 points or more in the second half.  Bosco did use a 3 guard, and sometimes 4 guard offense that presented really tough matchups for Wheaton.  Ironically, Carthage's best 3 point shooter tonight played strong forward!  Carthage coach's son played well in the first half (18 points).  In the second half Raymond focused on shutting the kid down and held him to 2 points!
The most exciting thing about tonight is the parity found from top to bottom in the CCIW.  Originally, I thought 2 losses would win conference, but now I believe you can lose at least 3 times and still be in the hunt.  Carthage will do what NPU did tonight.  They will upset a better team more than once this year!

Can't say enough about how NPU played tonight. Nice gutty win where they simply outplayed Augie on both ends of the floor...NPU made plays and Augie couldn't down the stretch. I'm really happy for Jay and Jason who have been part of the rebuilding project at NPU from the beginning.
Nick Williams had a great game and so did Jay, there was a slight scare for Oz as an augie player rolled over on his leg and it appeared he could have hyperextended his knee, but he came back in to the game later so it must not have been very serious.
NPU is still on Christmas break so there were very few students in attendance tonight, they missed a a real good game.

Great win for North Park - one of their better wins in the last few years.

Panner is sure "coming together" for the Thunder this season.  For Wheaton to climb back into tonight's game without any offense from Raymond shows some balance, and Panner is a big part of that.  Nice way to start the season for Harris and Company.

Late nite

Coach Harris made some great adjustments in the 2nd half---Little Bosko was able to get in the lane in the first half while Raymond was guarding him without much help (and to the free throw line with some convincing flopping)---But the 2nd half, Wheaton agressively doubled on the high screen and made him give up the ball and shoot from outside the lane with the bigger Raymond right in his face---It's amazing how Big Bosko whines for a foul EVERY TIME Little Bosko takes a shot---Harris also played smaller and the matchups were much more favorable---Panner played big and Wheaton got some great bench contributions from Jahns and #30

Sounds like Augie lost to the type of team that will continue to give them fits---Quick and penetrating---Can I have a mulligan on my conference predictions??? (sorry the name escapes my old brain)

Vegas is Disneyland... Chuck E Cheese... all rolled into one.
Oh really? So its safe to take my theoretical small children there? ??? :P

Theoretical children can be taken ANYWHERE... You usually don't hear a thing from them and they're really not as impressionable as one might think...!

AHH! Hi John! Good to see you! How is the extremely awesome wife?

She's doing really great!  She says hi too!!

Sounded like some pretty good games in the CCIW tonight!

The first home game I've had to miss in several years, and the Chicago Vikings pull off a well-deserved victory!  (I hope that's not a cause-and-effect statement).  Congratulations to the coaches and all the players on a great start to the CCIW campaign!

Augie's vastly superior height inexplicably produced fewer rebounds and points.  Augie could not break down NP's zone defense; I expected more from the AC coaching staff after halftime. No penetration.  No speed.  Total bewilderment.  Very odd for a top ten team.

Augie opponents should drive to the hole despite the height.  Yeah, a couple shots will be blocked, but a sweet pass will lead to an easy bucket.  I was completely unimpressed by the ranked team.  As previously mentioned, I didn't observe any halftime changes by Coach G to counter NP's first half defense that limited better scoring opportunities.

North Park won this game w/o student participation due to their break.  The gym was rather emotionless.

I told Nick Williams to take control of the game, and I believe he led all scorers.  By contrast, Augie lacked a leader.  Also, Dain had maybe four points.
Once a metalhead, always a metalhead.  Matthew 5:13.

A healthy Rogers would have helped along with a healthy Johnson, you can't shoot 30% and win games. Take away the dead spots in the 1st and spotting IWU 20 + in the first half  ???
I'd really like to agree with you,but then we both would be wrong........
