Mr. Ypsi

NPC-Alum,

I'm reasonably sure I was around somewhere in the late 80s, but after graduating in 1970 I think my next visit to Bloomington may have been in 2005! ;D

My time as a "Green Wienie" (ONLY Titans and selected others can use that term without incurring my wrath! ;)) is both ancient and very recent, but not much in between.

BTW, when I was there we tried to assure that opposing teams would fear such a road trip, but we were always (sort of) kind to opposing fans. ::)  (And I greatly enjoyed my trips to the 'Crackerbox', though Greg has pointed out (no doubt correctly) that my memories of the outcomes are somewhat 'green-tinted'.)

mrs ypsi...i dont care if wesleyan beat millikin..would have been by 100 if beauchamp got the opportunity to play. and as for Titan Q...robert might not be the POINT GUARD that sean and travis are...but i bet you 1000 bucks that he would  beat..no no, not the right term...DOMINATE  them in a game of 1-on-1. robert is a 2 guard. and for your info...i knew exactly why robert left the team. cause the coach is a flippin MORON!! since you know travis and sean so well...get them together and i'll get robert to meet them at the gym and see who is better? u down?? oh yea, and dont forget to bring my money either! little trivia for ya mr Q....who was the last player at IWU to play both basketball and football? did anyone else do it this year?? I DIDNT THINK SO. the dude is a STUD! would dominate anyone on that team!!

So who won the wrestling meet?
Seventeenth-ranked Olivet won the tournament, while Elmhurst finished third.   Read all about it at http://athletics.elmhurst.edu/home/news/13922292.html

Another road loss for Augie.  It's been a tough away schedule for some CCIW teams so far!

By the way, it sure is wonderful having access to live stats (even if the results are not always favorable!).  It sure beats finding out the scores a day or two later!!  Thanks for posting the links.

Final from Wheaton, the Thunder win 70-63 over the Vikings.

Wow!!  Steve Djurickovic put on a show tonight against Augie.  From about 5-6 min on, he looked like he was Kobe Bryant/Tracy McGrady in a video game.  The shots this kid made were ridiculous.  I believe he received the ball on the right wing mid post 4-5 straight times and made tough shot after tough shot.  To top that off he hit a step back three as the shot clock wound down with about 1:30 left to really seal the deal.  Barring any sort of freak occurance, this kid will break records... Carthage records, CCIW records, you name it.  It was a great game, back and forth the whole second half until Djurickovic just took it over.  Carthage also got solid efforts from Joe Higgins, Milos Vukosalvic, and Trey Bowens.  Congrats to Bosko and to the Redmen, that was a huge win...

Yes, it was an extremely impressive performance by Steve tonight as he knocked down 30 points along with 10 boards.  Having seen quite a few games over the last 10 years, that probably ranks in the top 3 of individual performances.

What made it even more enjoyable was to see him do it in front of a decent home crowd (1,200) which included a number of alumni who were in for their annual game.  Seeing their faces as Steve hit shot after shot brought back a lot of memories for me.  You had both Theo Powell and Antoine McDaniel on the Carthage bench and Jason Wiertel, Kevin Menard and many others in the stands witnessing it.  I told Jason after the game that I thought his all time scoring record was in jeopardy unless one thing happened....that was Steve declaring for the NBA draft early :D

Bowens carried Carthage in the first half but Augie put a concerted effort together after intermission to shut him down so Carthage relied on a number of others to step up.  The beauty of how Carthage is playing is the way the roles have been defined amongst the other players.  Higgins does such a steady job of handling the ball to give Steve a break from bringing it up.  Milos came in and nailed a couple big treys.  Billy Jacklin just does a great job of snatching a rebound, setting a pick and giving great energy to the team, Fendley, despite foul trouble that kept him out the last 14 minutes of the game, is a terrific three point threat whenever he touches the ball, and Neb got his touches in the paint and caused Augie to have to respect him as he starts to look for his shot more.

Augie has some very nice three point shooters (Wessels and Avallone) but it still astounds me how they didn't use their length tonight more than they did.  Swetalla is to talented to only take 5 shots and score in single digits.  Augie worked the ball around the perimeter well but if they just would get that interior pass going they could have forced Carthage to sag more and possibly create some foul trouble.

Nice to see Carthage at the top of the standings after two great wins this week.  Still a long season but Bosko and his staff are on top of their game in terms of strategy and it looks like they found that one special player that just might carry them this year.
