So my comment about the lack of 3-second lane violations really stimulated much discussion. ???
Maybe the rules committee made the change and we just don't know about it!  Six games and I can't remember a 3-second violation....how about the rest of you dIII addicts?

3 second calls appear to be way down the list of things the refs are looking for. And, with 3 of them on the floor, I can't understand this. In every CCIW game I've seen so far this year 3 seconds could have been called 4-5 times. I think I've seen it called a total of 3 times in 4 games. NOT calling this violation presents a team that is either vertically challenged, or lacks good interior defenders, or both, special problems.

Honest question, are there any Wheaties on the board that would care to share their thoughts on the situation regarding our Crazies?  I'm certainly not saying that the ejection of NP fans affected the outcome of the contest, but it really was pretty disgusting to kick college student out into the cold for not really doing anything wrong.  The only thing I could think was that the Host team was just embarrassed about being out-fanned in their home arena.

So the ejected students did absolutely nothing inappropriate?

Whats "inappropriate" at Wheaton may just be considered good clean fun at most other colleges/universities. After all, the NPU students, per Greg's post, were dancing!!  :o.  See my earlier post above covering Wheaton's philosophy covering this activity.

What I was told today by a couple crazies was that, one issue was a student sitting on another students shoulders, and the other was the standard "pyramid" the crazies build during a timeout.  Other issues included "being on the floor" which really wasn't any different than the large group of Wheaties in the opposite corner all over the floor, as well as "being in the aisle" again, no different from the rest of the gym.  The problem (i.e. the majority of the Wheaton police force being called) really began when our students decided to question those things (pointing out the obvious double standard).  There were no announcements made over the loud speaker, there were no rules posted that prohibited those things, the guys and girls were having good clean fun, which Wheaton deemed innapropriate apparently.

Under the Wheaton College Community Covenant, I wonder if the Wheaton administrators deemed the Parker's behavior as "immodest,"  "harmfully violent," or "sinfully erotic?" I'd take the latter if I had a choice!   ;D

Regardless that "Covenant" can only apply to Wheaton students, and is no grounds for removing opposing fans.

This isn't my first experience with Wheaton removing NPU students. WAYYYY back when I played, I had friends removed for innappropriate behavior....some of it was justified and some of it wasn't....
I think Wheaton likes to rattle some cages every now and then...

Question to the Prikkel, Q, Sager and Mr. B (or anyone else who might know):  What is the most teams that have made received a tournament bid from the CCIW.  And, what is the over-under on the number that make it this year?

Not sure if its the record, but it would seem like it w/b hard to beat---In the 2005-06 season, 3 CCIW teams made the national tourney following the inaugural CCIW conference tourney:
1. North Central--22/5 after the conf. tourney (Conf. tourney winner)
2. Augie--21/5
3. Wesleyan--20/6

I don't believe there is a set number as far as making the tourney--GS, TQ, Mr.Y or someone else can explain the intricacies far better than I can. The only conference team guaranteed a spot in the national tourney is the winner of the CCIW conference tourney. If all the conference teams keep knocking each other off during the remainder of the season, the conference tourney winning team may well be the only CCIW representative this year.

Was I the only one in King Arena that heard the wheatie coach rip #21 a new butt hole? The biggest beef I had (sitting front row, I heard it loud and clear) with his screaming, shrieking approach was that he never actually told the poor kid what he did wrong. He just repeated at least a half dozen times how stupid the kid was.  That's pretty classless.

This is the first time I've ever heard Bill Harris called "classless."

I'm pretty sure there was a 3-second call either in last night's game, or in Wednesday's (NP games).

called against north park vs north central (one of the few calls the refs didn't miss) - it was a good call - oziminski faked a three from the corner in the 2nd half and two vikings were trying for rebound position and never left the lane - reuben norris made the call from half court.

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

As above

it's happend at least twice - as GS will no doubt give us the exact year - but North Central, North Park and Illinois Wesleyan all made the dance the same year - i believe it was 1992 and it was North Park's last NCAA tournament appearance.

The CCIW has had 3 teams in the field twice this decade - 2001 and 2006. Both years, at-large (Pool C) team Illinois Wesleyan ended up in Salem.  In '01, Carthage came within a basket on Ohio Northern's floor of joining IWU at the Final Four.

Mr. Ypsi

Dennis, sorry not to be Greg( ;)), but that was 1990 (NCC and NPU both went 0-1, IWU went 3-1).  [In 1992, IWU and Elmhurst each went 1-1.]  The other years with 3 teams have been mentioned: 2001 (Elmhurst 1-1, Carthage 3-1, IWU 5-1 - 3rd place) and 2006 (NCC 0-1, Augie 2-1, and IWU 5-1 - 3rd place).

Thanks for the clarification - the old brain doesn't retain anymore - especially when its celebrating a Packer loss.

Personally, I'm mourning the loss by the Pack (despite my Illinois roots) - I realize I'm in the tiny minority, but I think Favre is 'the best there ever was' (and, by fball standards, a fellow senior citizen! :D).

Well, makes the Stupor Bowl a whole lot easier.  I'm not a Patriot-hater (like seemingly most of the country) since Brady is a 'Michigan Man'.  I'm guessing they'll be favored in Vegas by the biggest margin since the early days when the AFL got no respect.

I'd also like to thank AndOne for planting the image of a bunch of North Park students dressed in Kilts dancing "sinfully erotic" in Wheaton's gym.
