Mr. Ypsi

Uhh, Greg, just because they named the month after her (retired her jersey? :D) doesn't mean that less than 4% of the way through the month we have to bestow the award.

I trust CCIW Chat posters to manage a few more pranks before we hit May.

(What?!  Hit May?  Are you advocating violence against women? :P :-[)

And lest I forget: Happy April, April! ;)

Gregory Sager

Oh, I'm not advocating that we bestow anything upon her right now. I simply said that she's gunning for it. We'll make her earn it. ;)

Pat Coleman

Methinks she's gunning for the Hall of Flim-Flam.

GS-
Didn't think your blue tinted glasses would allow identifying my green tint.
So be it, another year of whining and flops will be good for my senile senior citizen status.
Perhaps the Titans will dispose of the Thunder again like last year in spite of KR's 2nd, or 3rd Coming, whatever it is.

I just heard from a reliable source that Kent Raymond is coming back for his last year of eligibility while taking classes part time in the Wheaton grad school. Wooooooo!!!

I heard from a more reliable source that he's still undecided

Uh, did you read the whole thread before posting? Happy April Fool's Day?  ???

That was kind of the idea  ;) Happy April ;D

petemcb

Isn't the only question really has Kent heard from the Source?

Ron Rose received what I believe is an extremely significant recruiting commitment this week.  Jordan Zimmer, a 6-4 G/F from Delavan H.S., said he will attend Illinois Wesleyan and play basketball for the Titans.  Zimmer is an outstanding student (4.0 GPA, high school valedictorian) and a terrific basketball player.

Some statistical information on Zimmer from the IHSS Class 1A all-state team:

Jordan Zimmer (Sr.), Delavan - 28-4 (school record); Senior season stats: 736 pts. / 23.0 ppg; 3 pt made: 123 (top 10 on IHSA all-time list); 3 pt%: 123-293/42.0%; 2pt%: 121-211/57.4%; FT%: 125-137 / 91.3%; Rbs: 132 rbs/4.1 rpg; Asst: 99 ast/3.1 apg; Steals: 54 stl/1.7 spg; Career high 44 points (including 22 in 4th qtr.) in sectional semi-final vs. Putnam County; Totaled 2043 career points; 347 career 3-pt made (Top 5 on IHSA all-time list); 86.5% career FT %Started 121 out of 122 varsity games in career (2 regional titles); College interest from D-1 St. Louis, D-III Augustana, Illinois Wesleyan, Elmhurst.

I saw Zimmer play three times this year, including his 44-point effort vs Putnam County in his final H.S. game.  I believe he is going to be a very good CCIW wing player – he compares very favorably to 6-4 Elmhurst small forward Ryan Burks (another central Illinois small school product) and I believe his ceiling is the same (1st/2nd Team All-CCIW potential).  Zimmer will have to get bigger and stronger as Burks has – Jordan is very thin right now.  There will also be a learning curve as he transitions from a small high school to the CCIW.

Zimmer received pretty significant interest from St. Louis University.  Rick Majerus came to Delavan to watch him practice and then had him on campus.  Fortunately for Illinois Wesleyan, SLU did not offer.  (They offered and signed G/F Kyle Cassity of Pinckneyville.)  Zimmer was pursued very aggressively by the three CCIW schools that he made his choice between.

In Jordan Zimmer and Eric McCullough, Ron Rose and staff have nailed down two top priority recruits, and done so by the first week of April.  My best guess is that both kids have a chance to make a significant impact for the Titans as freshmen.  I really can't say enough positive things about the job Coach Rose has done in the last two seasons to bring in this caliber of student-athlete and get IWU basketball back to CCIW contention level.

Below are a few Jordan Zimmer-related links...

With the reported depth of the IWU recruiting class mixed in with the young stable-full they already showed this past season, maybe it's time to speculate as to where the IWU JV team might finish in next year's CCIW standings.  Would they have a shot at a Pool C?  ::)

Speaking of recruits, I don't recall whether or not you've announced your son's plans.

If the postseason result is the same as this year I think Thunder fans would be ok with that.  ;)

That is true.

But I'm cautiously optimistic that if the Titans go 3-0 against the Thunder (or anyone) next year, they will be in the tourney.  Considering what Wheaton did, and what IWU did to Wheaton, I can't help wondering about what might have happened this year. :)

Just like Division I, one year of eligibility remaining and nowhere to go!
An ego trip for all, who really cares?

For the record, this was the thing that made me go huh.  And I still don't get it.

Whenever someone has trouble understanding what I have said, I'm reminded of the guy that walks into a bar and orders a beer.  As he sipped his beer, he pulled a minature baby grand piano from his coat pocket.  From another pocket he pulled a small bench and a little man dressed in a tux.  The little man, about 8" tall, was placed on the piano bench and immediately began to play beautiful music.
The bartender was amazed and asked the guy the story behind this little man and the piano.  He said "I was walking on the beach last night and spotted the neck of a bottle sticking out of the sand".  "I kicked it and a genie pops out and tells me I can have anything I want, just ask".

"The genie must have thought I said I wanted an 8" pianist"!

Hey guys, I haven't been on for sometime now.  Sounded like another exciting year for the CCIW.  Congrats to Wheaton and Augie on representing the CCIW in the tourney.

I also had a question.  I was curious as to who the top newcomers were in the conference this year?  I know Bosko's son had a very good year as far as ppg., but i also wanted to know how newcomers such as Andrew Jahns stacked up against the rest.  Living in Wheaton I was able to catch a couple games and thought Jahns played very well this season.  Any thoughts......or can someone sum up this subject if it has already been laid to rest?!?!?

Thanks
JT
