Bogeyman--for some inexplicable reason Phillips has been missing those easy ones since Christmas.  I think he's played the 5 worst games in his Hope career in that stretch.

Definately some pressure from the Albion D, they challeged everything.  That might explain some of the other guys missing the easy ones.

Just one of those games.  Everyone has one, once or twice a season.

CSTV is channel 610 on Direct TV at least here in sunny Eaton County.

I'm really surprissed Hope stayed undefeated as long as they did.  I haven't seen every Hope game this year, but from the five I have seen I'd say that Hope is a good team however not a #2 in the nation team.

Games that hope looked BAD!
--vs Aquinas 67-66
--LAKELAND   54-46
--at Albion 58-76

A few things just seem to be missing from this team and I can't quite put my finger on it.  A couple ideas...noone that steps up when the team is in a funk... on the court leadership... making the extra pass...

What i don't like:

-I said this last year and I'm saying it again.  Voison needs to be stronger in the post.  He's letting 6-2/6-3 guys push him out of the paint.  Too often he's posts up and gets the ball 14-17ft from the basket.

-Set plays for shooters.  There are none!  There doesn't seem to be a pure shooter, every team has one, I'm not sure that hope has any...  I'm talking about that player that lurks outside, possession after possession, waiting for the 3-ball and drains it again and again.  Mike and Dan Van Hekken, Dane Griffith, Kyle Vanderwall.  This is type of player missing from the Hope roster.

-Weak screens.  I think it is more the ball handler not cutting hard enough around a screen than it is the player setting the screen, but alot of the time they look very lazy.

What I do like!

-Athletic. This is an extremely talented and athletic team.  Any given game any 7 or 8 of the dutchmen could break out with a 20+ game.  This team is quick and plays very well when firing on all cylinders.

-Size. Not alot of DIII teams can put together a starting line up of 6-6, 6-7 and  6-9.  Most teams are happy to have 3 players of that size of their roster.  When Hope uses their size to their advantage and play the mis-matches they look great.

I'd like to hear from some of the other posters on their thoughts about this team.  And if I'm way off tell me!

This may be true, but he has improved greatly over the last year in that regard.

Two of Hope's best shooters are on the bench. Partridge and Wolfe can light it up with the best of them from behind the arc, but they are 2nd stringers. I'll agree with you that Hope doesn't have one in their starting lineup, and that's probably a big reason why we don't see as many set plays for them.

One of the best screen players is again on the bench. If you watch Evan Hare set screens and pick-and-roll when he's in the game - he's very good at it. It might be that he is so big, but I think he just has great forsight. He knocks down the majority of his shots from outside, too.

I want to make it clear that I'm not saying you are wrong Dren, not at all. I'm just helping to clarify a little. Nice post  :)

I know it's been mentioned before, but the College Sports Network is carrying the GAME on Saturday afternoon.  This is not just the satellite channel received at the Sports Bars across the country, but a channel that Direct TV subscribers have access to.  This allows me to go see my local Maryville team play here in St. Louis, come home and watch Hope Calvin on my DVR.  And yes, I'll TiVO an extra HOUR just in case it goes to triple OT!!!  To all fans from both schools - WAVE to ME, or put up a Hi Hopefan sign!!!!!!!

I don't get to watch it live, either (my excuse is I'll be at a bar prep lecture on evidence--ugh), but I'm planning to have it taped for diehardfan and I to watch later.  So any of our friends who are there, wave something that we'll recognize.  Here's a suggestion:

Nate thought you would be here after what happened on Wed. night.

Nate is on leave, but KK is back in action - same dude different persona

I know that the Brits are flying high after the thumping of the bibles.  Now it's up to the two lip sniffers to knock off Calvin.  That would leave the Brits in pretty good shape.  Question of the morning is not how did I get this hangover, but will the Brits climb to the top spot?  I am sure #2 is in order (if they don't lose in the meantime) but can they dethrone Witt?  Albion ranked number 1?  I can't remember that ever happening in my tenure.  But then again - I can't remember last night.

Good luck to Calvin and Hope this weekend.  Ought to be a dandy.  I'm out to hunt some vanders this weekend.  Papa Klaus needs to feed his family.  Shawn Kemp and I are going hunting.  He has a big family.

This is the type of stuff that keeps me going...props to you for picking up the slack from he-who-must-not-be-named and becoming a de-facto member of the board for the Michigan Hall of Super Sweetness (or whatever it was!)

Devossed,

The Super Sweetness Hall of Fame was closed for some renovations and upgrades. There will be a re-opening in the near future.

Brandon Crawford now has 11 double doubles on the season. The last time I heard 11 double doubles, I was standing behind he-who-must-not-be-named as he ordered burgers for lunch.

I hope that going from Nate Newton to kresgekrazy has the same effect on your posting career as name changes had for Lew and Cassius.

I'm looking for one ticket for Calvin / Hope.  Anybody out there have one or know of one available.  I would be eternally grateful.  Please let me know.
