On Adrian (didn't see this posted, but if it has I apologize)

http://detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070423/SCHOOLS/704230366

From the article

QuoteAll coaches are responsible for recruiting one-third of their roster each year.

"We don't care if you win the national championship. If you don't bring in the new kids each year, you're fired," Docking said.

That might be why Adrian's Cross Country/Track and Field job is already posted for next school year!  Apparently they are serious  :o :o

Womens synchronized ice skating? ??? :o ???  I have never heard of such a thing anywhere!!! Yet, alone, as a competitive sport! Odd!

Just wanted to let you know that WMU in Kalamazoo has a team:  http://www.wmich.edu/wmu/news/2006/09/061.html

Unfortunately due to budget cuts, this is now just a club sport instead of a varsity sport.

One of those new Title 9 sports. How many women can you get on the ice at the same time? About as many as a football team!!!

I'm guessing this might draw some of the same people who only watch NASCAR for the crashes (like me)... "here they come, 3 wide through turn 3, and there's a 7 girl pile up in turn 4"

A new Hope recruit who officially committed...

Kurtis Carroll.  PG- 5'11"  South Lyon H.S.

I was voted honorable mention all-state

Conference (KVC) Player of the year.  Class A

12 PPG.  8 assists (has unbelievable vision and passing skills.  4 steals a game.

Things he needs to improve on....quickness...staying out of foul trouble.  Could be a gem, depends on how he improves his game in the off-season.

Ha...sorry about the "I" committed,  I think I was playing college ball again.  Hey Flying Dutch Fan...its your favorite #4 :)  How have things been?

(There's room for a Tonya Harding-related one-liner there, but I'm not touching it.)  :o :-\ :o :-\ :-X

It would have referred to her penchant for wanting to get into pile-ups--nothing more. ;)

I'm sure a little time with you in the gym could go a long ways in improving on those things.  Sounds like some good potential there.

He's a great kid with a great work ethic.  Im actually livin with the old roomie and some of the boys in St. Joe starting May 6th.  Coming back to Hope to get a degree  in sociology, so I'll be seeing you around.  What I would LOVE...is if they had another alumni vs. JV game.  My hands get sweaty thinkin about it.

P.S. -  I coached Kurt Carroll this past year at South Lyon, so I know first hand he "could" be a consistent PG for Hope.  Who knows...only time will tell but I will be at a few games watching.

Its funny how once Hope basketball is in your life it never dies.

FDF....any chance you have both Calvin games from my senior year?  I would love to get a copy of those for my own archives.  Good to hear from you...
