LETS GO KNIGHTS.  Shut them up in that pretty little arena of theirs.

Hope College Campus Update:

The anchor and president's garage door have been spray painted...

touche, knights.

I'm curious - I know that the defacing of the anchor is a tradition (although I think breaking the law and including the garage door of the president is pretty low and crosses the line).  Do the Hope students do anything similar in return (and I'm Hoping the answer is no)?   I doubt you could find much to top the fake stolen banner from last year.

Of all the things in Division III basketball that I've witnessed personally, that's easily in the top five.

I think Hope will show up today after Wednesday's loss and feed off the energy of the crowd.  I'll say a 15-point win, 72-58.

So let's get a W today, Brits.  Sole leaders atop the conference sounds really good.

And if BC has any sort of game and Albion wins, chalk up another MIAA POTW....or maybe it will be Bailey?  He's been solid and the floor general that Albion needs.

Go Knights!  Please beat Hope so Hope fans can close their mouths for at least a couple days!

well done knight fans.  that's what the rivalary is all about.

just kidding.... ;)

I don't know what I was thinking about earlier this week when talking about top Freshman, its easily Caleb Veldhouse from Calvin.  So aparently I wasn't thinking of him.

Here's the last 3 years of this series.
'03   Calvin 74   Hope 70 (C)
'03   Hope 92   Calvin 76 (H)
'03   Hope 81   Calvin 80 OT (N)  MIAA Tournament
'04   Hope 96   Calvin 75 (H)
'04   Hope 75   Calvin 64 (C)
'05   Calvin 66   Hope 54 (C
'05   Hope 71   Calvin 68 (H)
'05   Calvin 82   Hope 71 (N)  MIAA Tournament

The strange thing is double-digit margins has almost become the norm in this series.  I don't expect one today.

Word for Hope today is confidence.....I think they win if they play with confidence, if they start pointing fingers, hanging heads, and worrying about the officials like they did Wednesday they'll be stareing at a very disapointing 2 game deficit in the MIAA race.

Go Hope!

Hornets fall to Tri-State with no offense whatsoever. Sounded better than Calvins though.

Alma misses a 3 at the buzzer, Albion wins 74-71.
There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

That score makes what I saw Wednesday even more bafling.  ???

Final in Holland

Hope 73 Calvin 55

Wasn't really that close as Calvin closes the game on a 17-5 run.

All around solid defensive effort from Hope, pretty amazing turnaround from Wednedays game.  Honestly it makes me appreciate just how great  Albion played Wed.

I fear for the Knights when they go to Kresge.

Britons09

Does anyone see how Albion played today a sign of weakness, or more so just coming off a huge win of Hope the Britons were more of looking past Alma?

Here is to hoping Albone being ranked #1, and more press to MIAA running the D3 basketball national press.

Refresh my memory, what exactly was the fake stolen banner from last year?  I don't seem to recall that incident.

Great win for both the men and the women today!  Go Hope!  Sorry Knights not your day.

Generally Hope's response is to try and defend against it. In the past I know there have been people that camp out and make sure no Calvin fans paint anything, but apparently nobody did last night.

As far as the game goes, the Dutchmen couldn't have turned their game around from Wednesday more than they did today. They out-rebounded, out-shot and out-played the knights. Andy Phillips has moved from playing poorly to playing inconsistantly - I consider this a step in the right direction. Voisin shows moments of brilliance at the center position, then moments of... something else when he is swinging the ball on the perimeter. Vanderheide had an amazing game, the type that you won't really notice looking at the stats.

A point of interest for those of you who weren't actually at the game, the Dew Crew started "the wave" and Calvin fans failed to participate every time. What's up with that? Even the most elderly of Hope fans were standing up to do justice to one of the most fabled sports traditions.

albionbritfan

A tale of two halves for Albion.  Up 16 at the midpoint, but apparently that margin was too comfortable.  In the first five minutes of the second half, Alma hits 4 3-pointers and a layup to go on 16-6 run, and Alma continued its torrid shooting from there.  All told Alma hits 10 3s in the second half and committed only two turnovers.  That will get you back into any game.

But Albion survives a scare to be the only undefeated MIAA team left in conference play.  Crawford puts up 31 pts and collects 8 rebounds.  Here's to his fifth POTW.

Congrats to Hope on getting back on track and putting the shine on Calvin.

Welcome to the board, though I don't know if Albion is going to end up with the top spot.

I think Civic Minded it just still bitter about all those players that contrubited to ending Hope's season last year when they beat them by 20+ points.

And all those players you named, I have no clue what you're talking about.  I don't think KVS will change his style of coaching.  He seems to know how to win and beat Hope by his current style of coaching.
