Wait, a Calvin fan got that before a Hope fan   :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

I was of course referring to Dina Disney, and her 2 FT's to win the 1990 D3 women's National Championship. 8)

Does location matter for in-region games if the teams are within 200 miles of campus?

Not to reopen a can of worms, but does playing Elmhurst and Oshkosh in Florida count as in-region or no?

Doesn't matter where the game is played to count as in-region.........Oshkosh would not be in-region no matter where its played.  (unless the magic ferry comes into play)

Incidently there's no mathmatical way I can see Hope playing both Oshkosh and Elmhurst in a 6 team format with TSU already playing both, it freezes out the other 2 schools.  For the sake of the in-region deal, it would be nice for Hope to play Elmhurst.  From a competitive standpoint, Elmhurst should again be near the top of the CCIW and a good early season test.

The search for the other two participants goes on.

As far as in-region games in Florida, it would be to Hope's advantage to not get UW Oshkosh, and get a team from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia,  or West Virginia.

A team from any of the states or territories I listed will count as in-region because they are part of our "administrative" region - which I think is ridiculous (Puerto Rico is in-region but not Illinois or Wisconsin).  Teams like Elmhurst, Wheaton, and Carthage (cough, cough) are in region because they fall within the 200 mile driving (cough, cough) radius.

Add another team to the RDV Sportsplex Tournament (in Orlando)

Defiance   ::)

http://www.defiance.edu/athletics/mens_basketball_schedule_0708.html

This assures Hope of at least one in region game (so far UW Oshkosh would be the only out of region team for Hope).

Tri-State I fear gets no in-region games in Florida.

Tri-State/Elmhurst would be an in-region game.

Oops - missed that one - only 187.7 miles according to Yahoo, and that's without using a ferry   ;D

Between Elmhurst and Defiance, and being unable to play Hope, that leaves two of the four possible opponents for Tri-State being in-region, with one school unaccounted for.

Tri-State's opponents are set, Elmhurst and Oshkosh.

Hope could only play one of those two, and then either Defiance or mystery team #6.

sac

mystery team #6 has been revealed in short order........

Roanoke

http://www.defiance.edu/athletics/mens_basketball_schedule_0708.html

So it would seem, Hope will be playing Elmhurst and Roanoke in Florida.  Both games would be considered in-region.

Not enough to boot them out of the league but you have to gloat about it?

Who's gloating?  And what would make you think that any of the posters in this room had anything to do with them leaving the league?

Do we miss them, not really.  Were they a tough opponent, absolutely.  Did they play a different, more physical game than we might be used to, yes.  Were they from ohio - yes!!!     ;D ;D ;D
