Ahhhhh...  allfirst saw the Lakeland game.

allfirst also didn't hear about the fact that the Lakeland vs. Hope game is the only gametape that Hope is giving out this season!!  ;)

A loyal Hoopsville listener would know which game I was at...

Good posts allfirst; you've redeemed yourself with that explanation.

Boy, that Great Lakes guy on Hoopsville really is good looking!

Oh, anyway...

The point I was trying to make on Hoopsville last night, which is hard when you get 10 minutes to talk about the best region in the country, is that Calvin has enough pieces to possibly...and I say possibly...make a run.

Yesterday was a bit of a blur for me, but I believe I said that for them to make a run in the NCAA, they first had to get into the tournament, which meant that either 1. they win the MIAA, which is possible but not necessarily probable; or 2. They only lose one more time, either to Hope or Albion, and then get to the championship of the MIAA.  If they finish 22-4, or whatever it would be at that point, the committee would have a hard time leaving one of last year's final four teams out.  At that point it comes down to how they draw and how well they are playing at the time.

Realistically, Hope and Albion have a much better chance of going deep this year, along with Witt and Woo.

And just to mention, I have not seen Calvin yet this year, but I know who they lost and who they brought back, so I'd believe the theory that they are young, but over the course of a season young guys have a way of developing, especially when they are well coached, which I think we'd agree this team has a pretty good one.

I'd also say that if I based my opinion on the only Hope game I've seen, I'd say Hope is the worst team in the country

The only Calvin game I have seen (via satellite), Calvin looked like the worst team in the country... yah know... getting spanked by "the worst team in the country".

so you definitely can't form opinions on only one game.

No doubt!

The noon UPS delivery brought the SuperSweetness Hall of Fame a piece for our new exhibit "Great Eyewear in Sports." Calvin fans now can enjoy Josh Tubergen's RecSpecs on display. Tubergen's goggles will be a nice addition to the pair already on display  from one of the MIAA's Football and Track greats. He asked to keep his real name confidential, but he does look a lot like Carlton.

My predictions for tonight:

Jeff Nokovich makes his bid for the NBA as the Adrian Bulldogs finally pull together a conference win over Alma.

The D'Andre's can't make enough threes to keep Olivet close.  Brandon Crawford and the Britons beat the Comets big.

Calvin, trailing at the half, avoids a letdown loss to the Hornets thanks to second half heroics by Kyle Trewhella.

Tri-State jacks up way too many threes and cant make a high percentage.  Hope wins.

T Hoff (as he is known by fellow officials) was said ref.  He was also in the booth at the Michigan-Mich State famed last second play with Jim Augustine when Michigan lost that game.

Alrighty, and the enemies list grows larger by one. The newcomer making a big splash jumping right into the top 5. Actually to be fair, I suppose he and Augustine were helpless to do anything about the Spartan Bob shenanigans in the pre-replay days, but just being in the stadium and associated with Big Ten officiating on that day does not help his case much with me. Alrighty... I'll quit while my blood pressure is near stable, happy with the knowledge that I'm pretty sure Hoff won't be near Ann Arbor tonight.

Headlines straight outta Compton!

Ron Artest to transfer to Hope CollegeIndianappolis - kresgekrazy
After deciding to turn down his offer from the Sac. Kings, Ron Artest has opted to play for the Hope Flying Dutchmen immediately.  According to NCAA rules Artest can join the team midseason if he forgoes remaining contract with the Pacers.  Artest a three time high school player of the year and two time NBA Man of the Year will join another standout transfer, Derrick VanSlokema from Easter Lilly Michigan.  Artest is in contract negotiations with Hope faculty right now.  He demands only his own rap studio and a date with the admissions lady.  Coach Glen VanWieren will agree with the terms only if Ron refrains from shaving TRU WARIUR (or whatever) in his head.  When asked about the new arena he will be playing in he responded, "They aren't allowed to have beer in there, are they?"

Jared, no you didn't  ::)

I thought I knew what I thought about the MIAA this year, but the teams have thoroughly confused me. Oh well, on the plus end, it gives me something to think about.  ???

PLEASE someone confirm or correct what is on Albion's live stats site...

Olivet 79
Albion 75

This would be HUGE.

Olivet beat Albion 79-75 in Women's Basketball, not Men's.....the Men's team beat Olivet by 17!
