Is tonight's game not being broadcast? I clicked on the normal links and I am hearing someone scream about John McCain and it says the game is tomorrow (Friday) at 8. This is awful!!! >:(

It is up and running now!!! Try again.

I really don't have a great feeling about the Hornet's chances tonight at Kresge.  They are going into a very hostile environment. The Krazies have returned in full force,  and Albion is riding the high from Saturday's win.  There's also a bit of a revenge factor.

My hopes are that DJ and the boys are still basking in the glow of victory over Hope (see albion.edu/sports).  If perhaps, to quote one Joe Haklin, Albion comes in "fat and happy" then maybe the Hornets can steal away a victory from the league's 2nd best team.

I have no doubts Kellogg and McCain will be up to the challenge on the offensive end of the floor and on the boards.

The key question: How will Kalamazoo handle Albion's defensive intensity? Will they back down? Or will they fight forward?

Stinger... Unfortunately it seems as though you are right about "full force". Where is McCain? Don't see him in the stats?

I have no issues with those who enjoy women's basketball.   I enjoy women's basketball.  I enjoy lot's of women's sports, especially soccer. I have no problem with you making a statement and using a comparison to the Hope's women's team.  I was referring to one comment in the past about a debate about a two MIAA women's players.  You can see SAC's take on it in the women's board.  It is, like usual, a great take.

I also enjoy women

Hope leads 41-27 at the half.

10-12 from the FT line for Hope. Much better than the last few games. Hopefully the success at the line will continue.

It is great to see a comfortable lead at the half 41-27(even though they gave up 7 straight before heading into the locker room) and the fact that the Dutch have an edge on the boards   :)

Final

Great win for Hope. Great to see the team respond so well after their first MIAA loss.

Really big games from Wolfe, Reimink, and DVS. Reimink had a great 15 points and 13 boards. MVH had a relatively quiet night with only 7 points on 1-5 shooting and 5 boards. They all played well and shot well. The bench certainly sounded better tonight and it looks like they contributed on the boards as well as a few more points.

And wonderfully, Hope shot 16-19 from the FT line for a wonder 84.2%.

Hope with a solid win tonight over an Olivet team that gave them fits earlier this season. Everybody played well for Hope tonight, with a signature highlight from Kelvin Carter with an awesome dunk midway through the second half.

Ryan Klein was not in uniform tonight due to sickness. He has been sick since last week Friday. Which means he played last week Saturday at Albion. We will see how long he will be out before he comes back. Apparently it is pretty bad.

Good play all around ready for Saturday at Kalamazoo.
Its a great day to be a Dutchman!

Looks like the Tri-State Adrian game was a really good one. Play by Play says John Moore hit a jumper with 4 seconds left and then Gallus missed a three at the buzzer for a Tri-State victory of 63-61. best game of the night as Hope, Calvin, and Albion all blew out their opponents.

Calvin handled Alma without too much trouble.  All 5 starters in double figures, and Mantel gets his first double double.  Alma shot a ton of 3's and wasn't having much luck, but still forced Calvin into playing the entire 40 minutes.  Have to agree the Adrian/Tri State game must have been a good one.  This probably means Adrian comes into Calvin Sat. with nothing to lose, and has a great game.   :)
I t looks like Stinger's worst fears came to pass, and Albion is primed to finnish the MIAA strong.

Solid win for the Dutchmen. DVS had a hot had, Wolfe looked good, being agressive again. Reimink also played very well, Osburn also did well filling in for Klein. MVH didn't have to do much tonight, got to rest the wrist a little.

How about Carter throwing down, with all the talk about dunks the past few weeks, he deserves a shout out. I definetely did not expect the little guy to get up there and put it down with two hands. Shows how athletic the future point guard is.

Not exactly a throwdown. More of a putdown ... which is what I'm probably going to get from a lot of youse Hope fans.
I'm Chevy Chase and you're not.

I think Kooiker was even looking forward to that dunk, I couldn't believe DVS didn't pick up a foul during the scramble for the loose ball. It certainly was not the most stylish throw-down we've seen, but it did stay in the hoop which cannot be said for all dunk attempts this year.

It was nice to see a few points out of Carter, was it 8 he scored? In the games I've seen this year, Carter had run the point well but not had much of a hand in the scoring. Good to know he can do some of his own scoring for the future.

Calvin beats Alma 74-60 in a solid fashion.

It was a really balanced scoring night from the Knights, which is nice to see. Alma had a very bad shooting night.  I think a lot of players are making a nice improvement in their game compared to a couple weeks ago.  Mantel finished with a double double, and in the second half did a nice job at going hard to the basket.  Zoerhoff was more involved with the offense, which was nice to see.  I am still concerned with letting the opposing team shoot too many wide open 3's, but I guess that wasn't too big of a deal tonight since Alma isn't that good of a shooting-team behind the arc.  Overall, a nice game, but I think we'll have more of an indicator of how well the Knights are playing when they face a tough Adrian team Saturday.

I found it pretty weak, until you realize it was pretty much a vertical jump with almost no momentum.  :o

If you had Kelvin in the who from Midland dunks first contest, I think you won big tonight. :D

I also liked Brandon McClary's tribute to Dan Holt on the other end.

Hope 86 Olivet 58

Uncanny how this game nearly matched the first half at Olivet.  Hope again led by double digits going into the second half but this time they played the first 5 to a near draw at 12-9 to Hope which gave the Dutchmen a comfortable 17 point lead.

This one didn't really breakdown for Olivet untill about the 11 min mark, Olivet didn't score for the next 4 minutes and Hope began cutting apart the lax Olivet defense with numerous layups by Hope's gaurds.   A 17 pt game became 27 and it was over, Carter had 8 points tonight and his toughest shot was the dunk.  He made a couple nice individual moves to the basket and I thought handled the point as well as he has all season.

Maybe it was Derek VanSolkema "De Rock" opening things up with the 3 ball, he was terrific tonight with 20 points on 6 3 pointers.  The rest of Hope's team was just 4-13 from behind the arc.

The absense of Ryan Klein was the story early, and if you'd told me Hope would be able to outrebound Olivet by 7 I think I'd have give you the stink eye.  But Jesse Reimink was the man on the glass tonight, and the rest of Hope's starters each chipping in 5 apiece, good all around team effort.  Zach Osburn's minutes are probably understated by the boxscore, he, Reimink, VanderHeide and Kratz had their hands full on defense with the McClary's.  Hope held Michael to an inconsequential 6, which all occured in the final 8 minutes of the game.  Brandon was not allowed to take uncontested shots as much as the first time........all together Hope gave up 20 pts and 13 rbs between the 2 brothers and I'd guess thats right up there in defensive efforts.  An awful lot of those points came late in the game.

The interesting part for me was how often Hope played lineups we have not seen much this season.  The absense of Klein left Hope thin on the frontline, and some foul trouble to MVH put Reimink and Osburn out there with 3 gaurds quite a bit.  This lineup seemed to create a few more open looks for VanSolkema and allowed Wolfe to drive and dish.......possibly a season high 7 assists.

All around very solid win off the tough loss last Saturday.   Given the absense of Klein, Hope should be pleased with this effort

VanSolkema 20, Wolfe 15, Reimink 15 and 13 rebs
