Unless the NCAA has re-measured, Calvin and Wheaton are not in-region (by about 2 miles).

d3hoops.com lists it as an in-region game

d3hoops.com also listed Hope with 14 in-region games before this week.........but the regional rankings say 12.

So who knows.

Really a tough game to lose for the Bulldogs today.  Both teams played good games, and the defense was intense throughout the game.  It's really a shame one team had to lose, and from my perspective, it's an even bigger shame that Adrian had to be that team.  I thought the Bulldogs really played their best game since their close loss at Hope today, and had Albion on the ropes, but the Britons hung in there and found a way to win.  As for the officiating...I thought Kelser had a nice game, the rest is silence. :-\  Hopefully Adrian can use this as a building block, and win a couple going into the tournament.

Looking at the stats from last night, pretty impressive to see every Hope player with scored and had a rebound.  Even more impressive was an attendace af 3573.  Add that to the 2083 that attended the womens game in the afternoon, and 5656 folks watched D3 basketball in that building yesterday - impressive.

No mention of Kelvin Carter's status thus far? With an injury necessitating a boot like he had on, can we safely assume he'll be dressing fancy for Wednesday's game as well? Hopefully DVS's legs are feeling strong this week. They were certainly trying to get Bosch a lot of time on the floor yesterday, but I'm guessing Glenn will not want him running the point for too much time in a Calvin game. Are there other guards who don't normally run the point that can spend some time there, Tanis maybe?

I wouldn't be overly surprised to see Wolfe running from the point for a time. DVS runs awfully well through screens to get himself open when he does play the 2 and Wolfe has the cajones to go to the hoop when there's even the tiniest of openings. Bosch is by far the fastest player on the floor for Hope on offense, but his defense raises some questions. Playing at home also should benefit the Flying Dutchmen.

officially, he has a bad sprain and a bone bruise from rolling it in the Adrian game last Wednesday. If this were an NFL injury report, his status would probably be listed as "questionable." But, given the fact that the starters played almost the entire second half at Calvin, he probably wouldn't play much anyway, right?

62 points from Calvin's guards.  Griffin had 22 in the first half.

Now on to the Rivalry game this Wed...

Today, on the Sabbath, I am thinking of the spiritual analysis made of THE GAME by the former President of Hope College, the late Dr. Calvin  (couldn't he have a different first name?) VanderWerf, who so eloquently stated:

"An atheist in West Michigan is someone who does not care who wins the Hope/Calvin game!"

If I'm not mistaken, VanderWerff was a Calvin grad - a testimony to all the ties within the rivalry.

Mark me down as an atheist then
There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.
